Before I picked Oliver up, they called and told me he was shaking his ears a lot and that they wanted to clean and pluck them to help with the ear shaking. Since this was my first time here and no groomer had ever suggested that before, I trusted their judgment thinking they were being thorough and acting in his best interest. When I picked him up, the ear shaking was not normal it was excessive and clearly a sign of discomfort. I actually walked back in with him to ask what was going on because something felt off. I asked if water had gotten into his ears or what could be causing it, and instead of getting a clear explanation, it felt like the situation was being minimized. I was told that this is normal when the hair in the ear is shaved down and plucked. I just wanted to understand what was wrong so I could take care of him properly. I took him to the vet immediately. At the first visit, they didn't see a full infection yet but gave medication to try to prevent one. Within two days, things got significantly worse. His ears became extremely red, inflamed, and even started bleeding, I have photos documenting this progression. By Monday, I had to take him back to the vet where they had to sedate him and perform a deep ear cleaning. That's when they confirmed his ears were full of infection. This was not a minor issue. This escalated into a painful medical condition that required sedation and treatment. His ears were clearly over-plucked, causing trauma and leading to infection. To be fair, the groomer did respond quickly and covered the vet costs, which I do appreciate. They didn't ignore the situation, and that does matter. However, what really concerns me is that after reading reviews, I found another dog owner describing a very similar experience. That makes this feel less like a one-time mistake and more like something that shouldn't be happening at all. If this has already happened to more than one dog, then serious reconsideration needs to be given to whether this service is being done appropriately or if it should be done at all. As a pet owner, that is extremely alarming. I would strongly recommend asking very direct questions about anything to do with the ears. I appreciate that they took financial responsibility, but this situation should never have escalated to this level in the first place especially with it being our first time at besties. As much as I did want to take Oliver back it just scares me that something may happen again.

Scabs and blood

Took my dog here in July and felt the need to leave a review, because we had a really poor experience. They plucked her ears to the point that she bled and had scabs (photos below with a photo of her ear from a recent groom elsewhere) and her belly had cuts from the groom. We previously went to another groomer that moved locations a bit further, so we thought we try out Besties. Never has our dog ever come back with cuts and/or blood/scabs. I want to mention they offered a refund, but the exchange I had felt more combative - they were repeating that groomers pluck ears as a standard practice, which could be true, but seeing as my dogs ears were getting so irritated, they should've acknowledged they needed to stop and offer a better experience next time but basically wished us luck with another groomer.

This groomer & salon is amazing! Bixby is my first dog & I was super nervous about taking him to our first grooming appointment. I've heard horror stories from other places, so wanted to find the best fit for our needs. He's an Australian Shepherd puppy, can be nervous of loud noises, and had long fur! From the first phone call, the staff was nothing but kind and patient as I explained what I wanted. From when I checked in to picking up my dog, everyone was super friendly and accommodating. My dog left happy and had the perfect cut! Will definitely be going back regularly. See before photo and after pics.

This is a great grooming place! How my dog is only been once but they were completely professional they gave away a lot of cool freebies thing bowls and poop bags my dog looks great afterwards and it wasn't like double the price as some of these places so it was very reasonable price most important thing is that my dog seems very happy and I didn't have to cut or trim him too much after the fact. They do add on the l gland expressions as an up charge but it's still reasonabley priced

He's so happy

Besties in Hillcrest is hands-down the best grooming experience I've ever had. I bring my 100-lb dog in once a month for a full bath, de-shedding, teeth cleaning, and nail trim, and it's super fair priced, which honestly feels like a steal for the care they give. They really care about your dog and build relationships with them. They are always happy to see Gobie. The staff is beyond kind -- every single person there feels like a friend. They're efficient, organized, and get him in and out quickly, which I really appreciate, but what matters most is how my dog feels. He comes out so happy, calm, and clearly well cared for every single time. It's the happiest I've ever seen him after grooming. And the cherry on top: he always comes out with the cutest little bow You can tell they genuinely love the dogs, not just the job. If you're in Hillcrest (Washington & University area) and looking for a groomer who's affordable, professional, and truly caring -- this is the place. I won't take my dog anywhere else.

Besties came recommended from a few people I knew and for a reason! It was Kenobi's first experience with grooming and so as first time dog parents, we were definitely nervous. Not because he would receive a terrible haircut because hair grows, but that he'll come out with a negative experience. Thankfully, his grooming was amazingly adorable and the people there seemed to really care. He didn't have any skittish behavior after so we decided to continue coming here and each time, they've done an awesome job with his hair. Highly recommend!

Besties is THE dog groomer to go to if you have a fearful dog. Our dog is terrified of a lot of things, but especially being groomed. We work with a private trainer sometimes, Ashley Larsen, who one day shared with us that another training company, Family Dog Consulting, had partnered with Besties to do dog training classes. Every week we'd go in after Besties was closed and we'd work on desensitization towards grooming equipment, brush on the grooming tables, and use the bath. Our dog went from being so scared she didn't want to enter the building, to excited to come and willingly get up in the bathtub. Once she was ready we worked with Denise to come in for her first "official" on the clock bath. Denise was so great to us and so patient, letting us play with her with toys in the building before and after the groom to make it a more positive experience. Instead of leaving shaking and traumatized she left bathed and happy. Also, shoutout to Nick who was working the front desk and let me hangout the whole time she was getting groomed and was so nice to talk to! Lovely experience.

The staff here is AMAZING!!!! Our dog is very reactive and they see what we see which is a sweet dog with some behavioral issues because of her previous owners. They make sure they get her an appointment time with the least amount of dogs around and treat her like an absolute princess. She always comes back so happy and perfectly groomed!

I've been taking my dog Frankie to Besties Dog Spa for about a year now, and I can't recommend them enough. The scheduling process is always easy, the staff is professional and friendly, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality of care they provide. I always make sure to request Lily--she is truly the best! Frankie always comes back looking great and happy, which gives me so much peace of mind.

Daisy's new hairdo

Our little Daisy Mae loves going to the Besties beauty parlor! She is normally very shy but has taken to her stylist, Tabitha. Daisy is always proud to show off her new 'do when we pick her up! Thanks guys!

POMERANIAN GROOMING (5 stars)…read more Spa Day for my Gigi! A new young Pomeranian has entered my life and I wanted to be on the right track either way the right go-to people. After seeing on social media advertising of this groomer, I felt the urge to secure an appointment instead of going to my previous Pom's groomer. And I am very very very happy with the end results! Location is downtown, there is a small parking lot but usually full - has with narrow spots and hard to get into since surround streets are one-way busy streets. I recommend circling and parking on 10th Ave for less of hassle. Fabiola is fabulous! She was so sweet, caring, attentive, and does an amazing job cutting fur. She doesn't rush each grooming and takes her time for a very quality cut. She also has a Pomeranian which made my experience feeling better because she knew exactly how to cut their fur. We even had conversations about Pomeranians and everything about our dog care life. My Pomeranian looks so beautiful and smelt wonderful when I picked her up. I asked for a trim, clean up the buttox area, and do cut the paws (like cat paws). She also knows how Pom fur is suppose to look like and she rounded out all the areas needed AND brought in the fur around the waist to give my Pomeranian a cinched look. For a bath, some treats, nails trim, and fur.cut for $115 - please tip on top, she does a great job. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I've taken him to other shops, and something always goes wrong! I found Fabiulous Grooming on instagram and decided to give it a try over the weekend. I got a quick response, asked a lot of important questions, and pricing was clear from the beginning. Once I showed up to my appointment on Saturday, I got offered a couple of different options. I was mainly interested in a wash, and regular grooming, but after the conversation, I agreed to face framing and a mild haircut, and I'm so glad I did! I am looking forward to having a go-to groomer that understands my dog's needs, and is so talented. A plus, the groomer is bilingual. Ask about different pricing options.

She was thoughtful in this respect, & was attentive to our dog. Kristan was very kind to our lovely pet, was personable & attentive when we spoke on the phone, & was very accommodating with our baby as to having him at their dog day care center. On one night, our dog looked that he was not feeling well, & Kristan made a wise decision to have her staff member get our pet to a nearby pet hospital to get seen, after a few hours, baby was okay, & same staff member returned our sweet one to the dog club. Our sweet baby had trouble walking & was slipping on their smooth floor, & Kristan made sure to get some dog booties to fit his four legs to help to make him comfortable & to make him feel at ease with his walking, & this made a big difference on him. Several people took part in taking care of AmyJames, & I did not get their names. Thank you all at Doozydog!Club.

It was also great to get additional information and speak with the manager. I could really tell she cares about the dogs that come here and she made us feel at home. Passing by I had always seen the two play areas facing the sidewalk but had no idea they had a few more in the back. I like how the dogs can be in the front and people watch out the large windows but also decompress in the back. The kennel area for overnights was also well-kept and organized. Also pleasantly surprised at each dog's locker and the staff's thorough physical checks of each dog and logging of their daily activities. I would say the only thing I had an issue with was logging into the webcam on my phone but seems to work on a computer. Also you can tell they use bleach from the smell but that is a good sign that they keep things sanitary. Other than that my dog seemed to enjoy his time there and we bought one of the packages so we will be back.

The staff has all been very kind and everyone who works there seems to genuinely love dogs. During a one stay, Finn was a little under the weather and the owner, Eileen, reached out directly to communicate with us about it and followed up repeatedly after Finn was home to make sure he was feeling better. From quickly identifying that Finn was a little off, to promptly informing me about the concern- the experience gave me even more confidence in the level of care & professionalism provided by Pupper Club. They are two very spoiled girls! A few steps into the store was a big display of homemade (organic, I think) dog cookies. They were made with all natural ingredients such as sweet potato. We picked up two each for the doggos. Two Halloween themed and two ice cream themed, a cone and a bar. When we arrived home the dogs sniffed out the treats right away. Ozzy is a smaller dog with small teeth so we like to break her treats into smaller pieces. Holy crap! The Haloween dog bone cookies were hard as rocks! I had to chop them with a knife and it took some effort! T.J. is a big dog so she had no problem devouring hers. I can't speak to the grooming, but the variety of treats, toys and accessories for pets was impressive. A little on the pricey side, but that is to be expected in this type of bougie pet stor.
