My wife and I were on a Maine road trip from Portland to Bar Harbor and back. We stayed at this Best Western and it was very nice. The people were very nice and the room was just fine. There is a tap room very close that has an aviation theme, since it is near an executive airport. I partook in the nice pool and their breakfast was solid with lots of little accouterments. Like a special water dispenser and a large room with plenty of TVs. We only stayed one night, but we liked it a lot. There is a neighborhood we walked through nearby for our morning walk as well. read more

Not good. Room is tired, beds are totally worn out, furniture is chipped, gouged, ready for Goodwill. Bathroom has rotting moulding near floor, water diverter had mold in the handle, caulking around tub and toliet moldy, ragged looking. I stayed with family for 3 nights. This past weekend. Family members had 2 other rooms. Rooms are nice. Not my complaint. Staff had the worst attitude. Not one person we saw said hi or any kind of interaction. But my top complaint is the pool area. We booked this hotel because it stated it had an indoor pool, heated, I'm am not sure it was heated. 2 people in our party of 9 went in. We went to swim first day and expected it to be like a sauna in there like indoor pools are. Nope freezing. I kid you not I had to go back to the room put pants on and a jacket. The air conditioner was on the entire time. Needless to say my nephew swam cuz he absolutely loves the water. Sad he had to swim alone cuz too cold for any of us. This is the coldest hotel I ever have been in. It's August and we had to wear jackets to breakfast. Only place it was not freezing was in the elevator. We were in elevator with a staff member and she had on a light winter coat. I could maybe understand if it was boiling hot out but hello it's Maine! Breakfast was ok. Nothing to write home about. Usually stuff, could have been hotter but oh well. For what they charge a night it's crazy! I was super disappointed especially because we booked it for the pool and couldn't swim. If you got kids and want to swim find different hotel this one falls short in many ways. On another note if you change your reservation in any way, pay attention cuz they do not cancel or add to your existing booking. They create a new one. Really nice lady working the front desk at check in. It's and Old place, but clean which is what mattered to me. No elevator sucked for my 85 year old dad. But it's just one flight. The only thing that I really didn't like was that the price was really high (more than $200 a night). I honestly wouldn't pay that much for a place like this ordinarily. But all the accommodations in the area were totally jacked up on the weekends in the summer like that. What's up with that Maine? read more

This is probably one of the better Best Westerns I've been to, and I'm thinking it was because it's in the 'Plus' category! For a place to just get some shut-eye, this location does the trick. The rooms are okay - the beds are a bit too soft and springy, and the pillows have no support and are pretty useless. The cable TV also has limited channels. The microwave and the fridge, if your room does have these appliances, could be cleaned out better. The bathrooms are okay, but they could use a better quality toilet paper and change the shower curtains (you can see the stains and some of the rust). The rest of the hotel seemed to be maintained well; the staircase area in the back is humid and there isn't much ventilation, mostly from the pool being located on the first floor. We had an issue with the AC unit, and while the front desk was somewhat apologetic and stated that someone would be sent up momentarily, no one showed up. That was when they offered a temporary room across from our unit for us to take showers; I just found it odd that they just didn't give us another room. This was a little irritating. The complimentary breakfast, if only hosted by Cheryl, was pretty great - scrambled eggs with bacon, ham, and cheese, bagels, pastries, Canadian bacon, sausages, homefries, waffles, cereal, coffee, tea, and a juice station. Cheryl also made some homemade chocolate toffee scones that she shared with the guests - wow! There can be other more centrally-located options if you're in Maine, but this place was fine in terms of getting to Freeport and the Georgetown area. Our room very clean or carpet erc looks new! We stayed on the 3rd floor. We got the adjoining suite room too. The pillows perfect. Very comfortable. No AC in hallways of second and third floor. No housekeeping services until your 5th day. Mirror in kitchenette with significant and dirty. Looks like someone brushed their teeth at that mirror. AC only works in bedroom and bath - no vents to sitting area with pull out couch which means the bedroom is freezing and the sitting area is hot. Dark rooms even with lights on. This place has very nice front desk staff - the only reason for getting two stars. Family staying in another room - also has a broken mirror door. vending machines are all out of water - 3rd floor vending machine didn't work at all. They could really help out the guests but having a little bit of a store like many other hotels - so that one could buy a bottle of water or snacks. I don't know if all the rooms are like this, or just the ones on the first floor...but this place was just gross. The room reeked of mildew and must; especially when the A/C or heat was turned on! Even though it was very cold when we stayed there, we couldn't turn on the heat or the smell became overwhelming. At Breakfast this morning, FOX news was on and I asked the manager to change the channel to something more kid friendly. I was told NO. This has never been a problem before. This is my favorite place to stay when I am in town to visit family or to vacation in Brunswick/Harpswell/Bath/Freeport area. I have been staying at this Best Western at least twice a year for the [ast four years and I don't expect to stop any time soon. I stay for an average of two to three weeks each time, and each time, I am delighted to be a guest at this hotel. The people who work here really make the experience special. Pooja and Vishall have been at the desk since my first visit and I look forward to seeing them now. They are so kind and they bend over backward for me to make sure I am happy and comfortable during my stay. Pooja checked me in and she remembered me! She remembered what I was up to, the last stay, and asked me if I was back to work on that. She is a living doll. She is vigilant and she knows what I like. This stay, my husband and I were unpacking and the hallway light went out. My husband called Vishall and within two (literally - no joke) minutes, Vishall was up with a new lightbulb and a stepladder to get things lit up. He did this with a smile. After he did that, he suggested a few local places to eat - the kind that the locals like and not the touristy places. We tried one that night and it is now our favorite lobster spot. The housekeeping staff are so fastidious and I love that. I do a lot of travel and cleanliness is really the most important feature of any hotel. I usually bring my own linens because of the amount of travel I do and the number of times I've been skeeved out. Here, it is just extra stuff I brought for no reason. These rooms are spotless. The housekeeping staff are always around and continually ask me if there is anything I need done. I don't even get this at the super pricey hotels I've stayed at. Finally, the breakfast is great. Amelia goes above and beyond to make sure there is a good breakfast for everyone. I am lactose intolerant, so her addition of soy milk to the coffee table makes my morning every single time. The biscuits and gravy are my favorite. My husband loves the scrambled eggs- they are real and not the stupid BS kind you get at most hotels. Can I say enough good about this hotel? Probably not. I am likely making it more difficult for myself to get a room here or a room at a decent price, but I really love this hotel and the people who work here. What a day it was after 18 hour flight and a two hours drive in the rain that ended up being 3 hrs and half. Not to arrive at, I believed would have been a stress reliever, but guess what, it was not. My credit card was charged more than double and I tried to seek help but kept on being told to wait for the manager. At check out, nothing was done. No help from the front desk. Even though this was a free stay, I don't think that it was worth the points. Oh, how I wished we had pushed on to the White House in Bangor- where we spend the next night. I recommend that you do the same and spring for a themed suite, if you can use a bit of relaxation. Parking was free. We were greeted immediately and check in was painless. From there, it goes down hill. Cleanliness Lacking: There's a mirror on the wall as you enter the room. Ours had toothpaste spray, presumably, from the previous tenant. Along with the toothpaste left on the mirror, there was a partially used bar of soap in the shower... along with mold under the soap tray. I skipped showering, as I feared coming out dirtier than I went in. I thought I would brew a cup of coffee in the Kuerig, but changed my mind. There was a used pod in the machine and 2 of the condiment packages were opened and partly used. There were food crumbs on the floor. The building is old. I enjoy something with history and character. As a hotel, however, maintenance should be routine and rooms should either be period correct or updated. Ours looked like it had undergone a partial renovation in the early to mid 80s and the rest of the room was still decades behind that. Mattresses need replacing and blanket was stiff and stained. The free WiFi would not stay connected. That's a real bummer since I wanted to stream ocean sounds to drown out the noise from the paper - thin walls and doors. I could hear the neighbors in the room and hall. It wasn't because they were acting inappropriately. At normal volume, it sounded as if we were sharing a room. I'm always a fan of Best Western and seeing how this hotel had such positive reviews I was optimistic. We checked in fairly easily and the attendant at the counter was pleasant. My 1 star is based on the condition of the room. There is a strong musty odor to the room upon entering- and I would be ok with this since he hotel was a great deal and it seems older. Now what I'm not ok with is finding strands of hair on the floor and PUBIC hair in the bathtub. That is definitely gross and unacceptable and I would give this place 0 stars just for that. I called to the front desk attendant who informed me there were no other rooms available and that he had no staff to clean the bathroom. Wonderful. I'll be showering in my flip flops BW because I don't trust the quality of cleanliness of your establishment. I'm not blaming the attendant at all, but there should be a standard in terms of cleaning. I mean, would you want to shower in a tub with a stranger's pubes sprawled out? I honestly am considering staying at a different hotel if we had any other options within Bath and if I was guaranteed a refund from BW for the 3 nights I have booked. AC unit comes off wall, towels unavailable when requested in the evening, No AC in halllways, significant odors in hallways and rooms. Best Western Plus offers dog friendly accomodations and free hot breakfast at an affordable price. We booked our hotel last minute and found that this location was offering a reasonable price for the holiday weekend / area we needed to stay in. We were within an hour or two or less of most of the main destinations we wanted to hit up. It's not the fanciest hotel you'll stay at but it sure did the job we needed in a last minute situation. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs (not patties thank goodness), sausage, bacon, potatoes, waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, coffee/tea, juice etc. It's one of the bigger spreads a free breakfast can include since some hotels only offer continental. It was a nice accomodation to help us get started on our day quickly without needing to worry about finding a breakfast spot. That gave us more time out and about to enjoy the lobster the area had to offer. Parking gets tough at night but there's always at least a couple spots left off to the side of the building, other than that, no major issues! read more

Don't even waste your time looking here. I booked here for 4 nights through Expedia and saw that it had good review and my booking was non refundable. But based on positive reviews I had seen, I didn't mind booking because I thought it would be a good hotel. I was extremely wrong. The first room that I was assigned, was propped open and had a horrible smell. I went back to the front desk and she assigned me a new room. When I went upstairs to my room, the hallway was hot and muggy (no ac) and once I entered my room, it quickly went downhill from there. You can see in the photos how disgusting the room was. The microwave was disgusting and hadn't been cleaned, the refrigerator had a spill in it that hadn't been cleaned, the top of the headboard was absolutely disgusting, and there were several stains (brown and yellow) on the UNMOPPED bathroom floor. The hotel was old and rundown and I was extremely disappointed. We left a day early to go to a different hotel since that one was just so gross. I didn't even feel comfortable having my 10 month old baby in that room but got stuck there since every other hotel was booked for the first three days of our stay there. Everyone on the housekeeping staff needs to be fired because they clearly do not know how to clean. It doesn't even seem like they attempted to clean that room and should be ashamed. DISHONEST HOTEL FAMILY! I experienced FRAUD at the front desk. The hotel staff are crooks! I stayed here in February, on a pre-paid reservation from my company's corporate card. The hotel insisted I provide a personal card, for any "incidental charges." A few weeks later, I learned that they boosted my personal card for extra room charges, long after I checked out. They padded their occupancy rate on my credit card. Desk staff provided 3 different stories to explain the charges. I asked for a manager and was told there isn't one at the property. A Best Western location convenietly located off route 1 part way between Brunswick and the Bath/Wiscassit region. A heavily chlorinated indoor pool makes it a good stop early in the season if you are visiting the seacoast area with small children who simply must swimm during their family outings. The rooms were nice and clean and a small breakfast service is available with self service waffles, sausage and a few other items. A good clean place to stay close by to many coastal Maine locations if you can do without the ambiance. read more

When we arrived the room we got was NOT what we had reserved.When we went to the front desk to show them our conformation email with the correct room all the woman said was "huh, that's weird. Sorry. There are no other rooms" Once we setteled in our room we noiced the shower had not been cleaned and there was a half used bar of soap and shampoo in it . Further more, we had NO towels or coffee "unless you count the used on in the coffee maker" and there was trash in the room. To make matters worse when we called the front desk with these issues they sent someone up with new towels and coffee and when we.went to put the towels on the rack in the bathroom it fell off the wall and the man that brought them was UN suprised by this and was like "Oh the towel rack? Ya it does that" but to top it off , no one came to take care of the bathroom so we had to take care of some strangers used soap ourselves! We were so excited to stay here for Valentine's day. The hotel has a HUGE moisture issue. You could tell from just walking into the lobby. We were placed in a first floor room that was extremely humid. I thought turning on the AC would solve it. When I did... drip, drip, drip... constantly. I went to investigate and found water damage on the wall underneath and the rug was entirely saturated. It was a swamp throughout half the room and the carpet was entirely soaked throughout. The folks working there, while pleasant, acted as if this was a new problem, yet had a handy dandy pump at the ready to try to clean it up. There would have been no possible way to dry that out and I'm sure it wasn't the only room effected given the overall humidity throughout the entire hotel. We were moved to a different room with 1 instead of 2 beds and offered a cot. That room wasn't much better. Called Best Western to complain and didn't even comp the room. Will be calling the board of health to spare other travelers from becoming potentially sick. Very irresponsible of them not to address a major health issue. read more

While the product of this hotel is nice, the hotel itself has work to do. Without getting into too much detail (because it would take forever) - here are the highlights: -Hair and crumbs in the bed upon arrival. Not just an overlooked hair, the sheets were 100% not changes -New sheets didn't fit the bed properly so they fell off all night -When bed was remade the clean pillows were thrown on the floor WITH pillowcases on them. Gross -Hair in the bathroom -A/C did not work and no one was willing to resolve the issue despite 3 calls to the front desk. It was 100 degrees out, we were less than amused -Young lady working the front desk had a language barrier and suggested that we simply turn the unit off and then on again to make it work. Obviously the issue was greater than that One positive - Brie (I believe her name is? Young lady that works the front desk) is an absolute gem. She sent us to great restaurants and completely kept her cool when we were frustrated at check-out. She made the whole stay have a little positivity. Thank you! read more

From the second I arrived on the premise of this hotel, I was repulsed with its supreme lack of cleanliness. Approximately eight long dark hairs were found in the two beds, in addition to smaller hairs found on the pillows. As if that wasn't enough, there was no other blankets in the room. So when we requested new blankets at the front desk, the receptionist handed me and my fellow guest a SOAKING WET blanket covered in even more hairs (did not think that was possible). If you want to avoid contracting any serious diseases, stay away from this hotel. There was absolutely no "plus side" to staying at this best western plus. read more

The facilities themselves are fairly good. The rooms are nice for the price and the pool is quite good. The service however is subpar. In two days, our room did not get cleaned and it appears most of the hotel did not either. The dining area features sticky tables and during breakfast, it's a flip of a coin whether you will find items such as eating utensils or cups. For the price, this hotel cannot be beat. The rooms are very clean. They are children friendly. There is a nice lounge/restaurant area where you can play games, watch TV, and have snacks. And they had a warm breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles). The salt water pool is small, but clean and refreshing. read more

After spending 3 days here in 2015, I had much looked forward to coming back and enjoying the pleasentries this hotel had to offer. However, this did not seem to be the case for a longer 4 trip stay this month in 2018. Our first realization that this would not be the same experience would be finding a chunk of smashed chocolate candy underneath the bed, something that should have been previously taken care of before our arrival. Next, our trip to the pool was quite a shock as jumping in had revealed the heating system was gone, supposedly due to maintenance issues. While not necessary, it was a luxury I quite enjoyed. The filtration system seemed to have been mysteriously shut off too, a detail I would only come to regret much later. We had woken up the next morning to go down to a continental breakfast much awaited for, only to realize much to our disappointment that the choices had been cut in both quality and quantity, although the one staff member present was helpful. The next day and trip to the pool was rather empty, another warning sign I had yet to take seriously, more of a happy coincidence that we had the place all to ourselves. This was a stark contrast to 2015 however, where the pool was always at full capacity. The only gripes with this day consisted of still no filtration system and a band-aid discarded on the floor near the pool. This was also the day we had a cot delivered to our room, which was quite mundane and as you'd expect a cot to be, uncomfortable but a soft slab to sleep on. The next morning after sleeping on the cot, my legs had a few spider bites, but nothing too serious. More of a gross factoid that's made sleeping on it just a little bit harder. We had our next trip to the pool, same issues, no filtration and a band-aid still lying on the ground. However, our walk back to the room made it clear that the house keeping had not been there, and our room was still as we left it. Back to the cot, another restless night with more bites, and our final trip to the pool had the same problems. No filtration, band-aid on the ground. This place seemed to only get filthier and filthier, leaving only dissapointment and a lot to be desired, this being our last night, I looked forward to getting one more night of terrible sleep and being done with this miserable place. The trouble wasn't over yet, as the next morning and day we would leave, my right ear was swollen shut from the inside. We left that day, and while my ear was still swollen shut by nightfall, my sister too had begun to complain about pains in her ear. After a night of agonizing sleep from not being able to rest my head due to shooting pains in my ears and cheeks, a trip to the walk-in revealed we both had ear infections. Never once have I had to deal with this, and I am a common user of a pool myself! It was only with thinking and putting two and two together that only the unfiltered, disgusting, uncleaned cesspool Of human runoff that they called a pool had been so bacteria infested that it had given us infections. I can not stress enough that not only should you NOT rent a room here's, but you shouldn't even use the pool as a public area. Do not come here, spend a day here, or even think about being here lest you wish infection, bug bites, and restlessness upon yourself and your loved ones. read more

We came up for the Thanksgiving holidays. We were there for 5 days. The staff, housecleaning, and maintenance were great. Bri at the front desk was awesome, very helpful, always smiling, Kristine in breakfast area did a super job in keeping everything stocked up for everyone. The Heater didn't work the night we checked in but it was too late for repairs and we were offered to exchange rooms that night but we were exhausted from a long drive so Bri gave us some extra blankets and it was just fine. We moved rooms the next day so the heater/AC could be pulled out and worked on with out interrupting our stay, since we had our dogs with us. The rooms had a mini fridge and microwave. The bed in our first room was more comfortable than the other room bed but after changing rooms we didn't feel like changing again. The breakfast had waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, warm oatmeal with numerous toppings to choose from, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, juices, coffee, yogurts, etc. Everything tasted very good.
