i just left about 10 mins ago and I will not be back. I came in with my kids and mom looking for tile for a basement floor. None of the associates asked if we needed help. I looked around for a bit and then went up to a lady to show her what I was looking for and to ask for help. She proceeded to show me around but kept reminding me everything was out of my price range. Mind you, I never mentioned price range. She also kept mentioning shipping costs and how that was also too high and essentially letting me know that is also out of my price range. I'm uncertain of how she looked at me and was able to guess my price range but ... the interaction was weird, uncomfortable and not a place I would feel comfortable dropping $4k on tile read more

They have beautiful tile. And a year ago I met a wonderful employee who pulled my kitchen together. I was lucky. The general attitude there is 'don't bother me'. They have implemented a front line desk with new employees that they don't support (who nicely support each other). Not sure what is wrong with 'upper staff'. If they gave the effort of the first man I met there a year ago this place would be so busy! Which is why I think they are rude and unhelpful Owner should reassess the commission structure. We worked with Best Tile a little bit ago before all the sheltering in place, and we had an amazing experience! We worked with Doug Woodhouse, he was super helpful! He picked up on our design aesthetic quickly and suggested some really beautiful options that were perfect for our taste. Went to "Best" Tile in Dedham and after a good amount of deliberation decided on tile for my master bathroom. The salesperson was patient with me as I am somewhat indecisive when faced with too many choices. When getting the order ready the salesperson took the measurements, giving to us by our GC, and stated, "I am ordering you 10% on top of these measurements to make sure you have enough with cuts and waste." I was truly shocked by the total cost of these tiles and then to be told I was not able to return or or cancel my order once placed was not good service. Long story short master bathroom is still not done because we didn't have enough of 2 different tiles to finish. Now still waiting fmore than 10 days to have them shipped to the store. Not impressed don't waste your money go to Lowe's or HD Contacted manger as requested and never got a call back. read more

Great tile but service from our sales person was a bit trying. They kept blaming the builder for install errors when it was their responsibility to provide install instructions on the order sheet. Stopped in to the showroom at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon. The showroom was extremely busy however I was greeted by a very personable young gentleman, Douglas, who explained that he would be with me as soon as he was finished with the client he was with. In the meanwhile, I looked through the showroom which I found to be well organized and offering a nice selection. Not crowded with product sampling, making it easy to "see" the options. I have had two of the bathrooms in my home renovated and I have used Best Tile for both projects. I find that Best Tile has a good selection of quality tiles. I find the tiles at Best Tile to be moderately priced. -Not as cheap as Home Depot or Lowes but not as expensive as some of the high end tile stores. When you first walk into Best Tile, you can see all of the staff sitting together. At first I thought the staff was pretentious. They do not talk to you or even make eye contact with you and you can spend lots of time in the store without anyone acknowledging your presence or even asking you if you require any assistance. Once you engage them though, they are very helpful and friendly. The first time I did business with Best Tile, one of the male associates (can't remember his name) assisted me and I was happy with his services. The second time I purchased tiles from Best Tile, "Lynne" assisted me. I found her very helpful. I found a tile I liked, and was happy with the different styles of floor tiles and back-splashes she suggested as pairings. Best Tile has good merchandise. As long as they maintain good customer service I will recommend them. read more

Jeanne really helped me by giving me artistic suggestions. She made it clear she would only give me recommendations as I had asked - but it would be MY decision as I'm the one that will be living with it. I found a lot of nice selections of tile to look at. The customer service on the other hand doesn't even warrant the 1 star rating I am giving. I entered the store with the hopes of purchasing some tile for my entry hall. As I entered the showroom there was a gentleman to the right working with a woman and clearly gave eye contact but ignored me. I continued to look around. This same gentleman still ignored me as the customer he was helping took a phone call. Not one person offered to help me. I refuse to spend a dollar on this establishment. Now another employee enters from outside and I am still ignored. Therefore Best Tile is not the Best in customer service. read more

We recently bought quite a lot of tile from this business and our experience was positive. Our sales person, Lynne, was very professional. She helped us select the tile for the main floor, second floor bathroom and for the walls in the bathtub area. Later we also purchased backsplash for the kitchen. There was no push on her part and she encouraged us to take samples to see if it will work. It so happened that we had a few unopened boxes of tile left and despite the policy that they don't take anything back she was able to work allowing us to return it. I would recommend this place and will use them in the future if we ever need tile. Disclosure: our contractor was registered with Best Tile and we got a good discount on everything we bought there. It would be a good idea to ask your contractor if he is registered with them. read more

Best Tile in Dedham has a great collection of beautiful high-end tiles. For me, though, it was their exceptiocustomer service that set them apart- especially Erin Hayes. Erin has a great style and color sense. She is extremely patient and did not complain about my several changes of mind in making my final decisions. She was very thorough despite continuous multi-tasking and assisting multiple customers simultaneously on busy days. My new master bathroom tiles look gorgeous- kudos to Erin! read more

What a fantastic store. The selection is huge, the people are incredibly helpful (shout out to Anne), the tiles are reasonably priced and if they don't have them in stock they come in quickly when ordered. We have gone to other discount tile stores in the area and although sometimes the tiles might be a few cents cheaper - the people are never as knowledgeable or helpful and the tile takes much longer to come in. Difficult to return unused tiles. Contractors picked up tiles, I gave my credit card over the phone, took my email to send receipt, never did. Contractor took a picture of the receipt and texted. Even with the receipt, they did not take the unusual tiles back, because the manager was not there!! read more

As mentioned by a previous reviewer, they pretty much ignore you when you go in. We looked around for quite a while and no one ever approached us. Finally, we asked for help (because we really needed it) and after a while, someone spared us a few minutes. Then she paid minimal attention to our tastes and preferences and just told us what she liked. Then she was done with us and went away. I didn't feel like a valued customer, that's for sure. The selection was pretty extensive. The location is pretty convenient (right by Legacy Place). But overall, if I'm going to choose something that will be a significant feature of my kitchen for many years, and costs a certain amount, I really want someone who isn't indifferent (at best) or giving me the brush-off (which is just about how it felt) to help. So I won't be buying my flooring and backsplash tiles at Best Tile. read more

We ordered kitchen tiles from here. First they arrived later than expected. Changed delivery date three times. Then when we wanted to return unused tiles, we were told that they cannot be returned even with receipt. There was no mention on invoice not being returnable. read more

Nice tile selection but the customer service could use some work. I had some questions about a particular tile, and it was like pulling teeth to get clear answers from the older saleswoman who helped me. She was more intent on informing me on why I wouldn't like the tile I had questions about rather than helping me find something that I might like better. She seemed to know what she was talking about, but I really had to ask the right questions in order to get the answers. I still don't have the answers I want, but it doesn't matter because I wouldn't go back to this store to get them. I'd rather do business with people who are friendly and interested in helping me instead of with people who make me feel like I'm an idiot for not knowing everything about tile. read more

I walked into this store and began to peruse. There was only one other couple in the store who was already being helped. Not only did no one greet me (whatever--that can be overlooked) but no one offered to help me AT ALL. I actually found some good options right to next to the couple and the employee helping them so I know the employee saw me--as I was in their vicinity for at least 15 minutes. When they left the store, that employee walked away--but came back to the area at least 3 times to move/collect items, once within arms-length distance and didn't acknowledge me. Clearly they don't need my money. Working on one new construction kitchen and two renovations and could have been a significant sale for them. I couldn't tell if I wasn't helped because I was black (once the other couple left -who were white- there was no one else in the store) but I can't imagine what their issue was. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Update: Yesterday, Wednesday, my wife received a call from the manager of Best Tile. He was returning my call from last Monday. He realized during their conversation that I had posted a fairly negative review of my experience at the store on Yelp. He reached out in a very positive way, was very understanding and said he regretted our experience. He invited us to return unused, unopened materials. Best Tile's position on no returns, he explained, is set because the store does not want to resell those items to new customers--not knowing if they may have been altered because of faulty storage or damaging temperature exposures. This was not an issue with the items we wanted to return and he agreed to accept them for a small restocking fee. This manager, Bill, seems intent on making Best Tile the kind of store that will be responsive to customer needs. He listens. He has a knowledgeable staff in the showroom and their recommendations to us worked into a beautiful bathroom. So, on balance, If I simply put my one negative experience aside and consider the good experiences with the sales staff and manager, I would rate this a very good company that is working hard to make itself a better company. Similar to a few other posts, I too was ignored by salespeople for 45 minutes. My guess is if you appear to be an ordinary homeowner, they won't bother with you. I actually have a contracting company, and also assist in choosing materials for other builders' in the area. It was obvious the salesperson wasn't out to impress me- she was discussing loudly how she was pulled over by the cops after having a few beers and she was embarrassed because her car was a mess and on and on. VERY unprofessional, and definitely not funny. I will not be recommending this store to my coworkers - there are plenty of other places with the same materials. read more

Might be the Best Tile but certainly not the "Best" Customer Service. From the minute you walk into the store the sales staff goes out of their way to ignore you. Forget it if you try to ask them a question, they act like you are huge inconvenience to them. Unfortunately, I did order my tile through them and when we fell short and I had to go back and order more the sales person, who put the order in from the dimensions I gave her, looked at me laughed and said "well that's what you get for not ordering enough tile." I will say the gentleman working in the warehouse was the only helpful and pleasant person I encountered at the store. read more

The idea of any home improvement project sends chills up my spine. I am not good at picking out anything but I was committed to expanding my house and redoing the 1970s bathrooms and kitchen so I had no choice but to forge ahead. On a recommendation from a friend, I contacted Jeanne Eckel of Best Tile in Dedham. If anyone has ever been in a tile place, they know how daunting it can be to stare a million different types of tile in the face. I met with Jeanne and within an hour, she helped me tile and grout two bathrooms from floor to ceiling and pick out two backsplashes and a mudroom. She was so incredibly knowledgable about the product that we wasted no time in second guessing what would work and what wouldn't, She basically broke it all down for me, showed me what things would work with my plan and what would look best in my type of house. My tile was ordered and delivered in a Best Tile truck and there wasn't one broken one or one issue with missing tiles. Quantities were on point. I feel like I want to do another home project just so I can work with Jeanne again.
