Rooster's Cottage Consignment Gallery (RCCG), however, has no such identity crisis. It's a consignment store, both and name and what it provides: Modern Southwestern consignment. It seems about perfect for the landscape of Mesquite, Nevada. RCCG has a lot of furniture, with an emphasis on the Southwestern motif: deep browns, taupes, turquoises, a lot of wood and leather. They have several "showrooms," which is great for those who love that style but can't quite figure out how it should go together. You'll find plenty of couches, love seats, arm chairs, recliners, dressers, credenzas, coffee tables, bar stools, dining tables, accent tables, nesting tables, ottomans, dressers, throw pillows, clocks, area rugs, and the rest. They also have a lot I would consider to be female-friendly accessories you'd find at almost any Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics, or AtHome: Warm-and-fuzzy signs with phrases like "Bless this Mess" and "I Love You Like Biscuits and Gravy"; repro paintings; cutesy signs with cutesy animals on them, coffee mugs, scarves, candles, jewelry (much of it handmade); and several signs, magnets, and other accessories that would be perfect for those wanting to share their passion for wine. First, a little backstory. I literally grew up haggling and was taught from a very early age that…read morethere is nothing in life more satisfying than finding a killer deal. The obvious sad and pathetic nature of that last sentence notwithstanding, suffice to say that I'm a proud thrifter. Not because I'm poor, lower middle class, employment challenged, or whatever the politically correct nomenclature is to refer to the "less fortunate" nowadays, but simply because I appreciate a good value. I've shopped at super high end thrift stores and ones in the middle of skid row in the demilitarized zone that used to be known as Los Angeles. Having resided in Las Vegas for the past 19 years, I believe I have shopped in every off price/thrift retailer that exists here, except for two. One was this Habitat Restore place and the other being Opportunity Village. I have shopped at both in the last couple days and here are my thoughts. Wow. That preamble went on way too long. My apologies. Anyways,,Restore is definitely not your traditional "thrift store". Let's get that straight right from the get-go. Not because of its architecture or that they allow smoking (I wish) but because of the type of store it is. They concentrate largely (but not exclusively) on home furnishings, construction materials (like toilets, bathtubs, closet doors, etc), and manufacture overruns. Their pricing is extremely competitive and in some cases outright killer bargains. When went there yesterday morning, they had colour codes their price tags to reflect discounts ranging from 25% to 75% off (and of course some colors has no discount). I recently moved and have been trying to furnish my new residence in a traditional yet eclectic style that isn't necessarily hipster wannabe or man cave, but a style all my own showcasing that yes I'm a 47 year old divorced dad of twins that is stuck thinking that "ten years ago" refers to around 1996 but I'm also content with my mismatched furnishings and a colour wheel of different cargo shorts. Restore literally hit the nail on the head for me. They offered what I believed to be former hotel furniture at rock bottom prices, and even had a couple pallets of this great Mid century modern end table that came IKEA style in a box that you get to put together at home. Being that I'm about as un-manly you can get as far as DIY projects, I was excited that the step by step instructions that came with the end table (all assembled with the included Alan Wrench of course), meant that even I can feel accomplished and satisfied knowing that I BUIIT THIS after the 3.5 hours I spent doing what would probably take most 13 year olds about 25 minutes to put together. Anyway, I digress. This store is awesome, and the staff is super friendly, approachable, professional, and courteous. I will be back probably tomorrow to waste more money, and suggest you do the same. On a side note, the last time I visited this location prior to yesterday was to buy a CD at the WOW! Grand opening. A combination of The Good Guys and Tower Records that was destined to fail. Those were the days.

This is review to praise Sophia (our closet designer/salesperson) and Erik & Luke (the installation…read moreteam) who worked on our upgraded Preston closet. Sophia designed our DREAM CLOSET! Glass doors, shoe shrine, hanging spaces for long dresses, plenty of drawers, jewelry drawers, and tons of shelves. Our closets are 10 feet tall, and they are a whole room in themselves. The color we chose, with Sophia's help, was Fawn. It turned out perfectly, because it is a near match for our other cabinets in our home, including the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room cabinets. Gorgeous closet and absolutely a beauty to behold. Erik and Luke from Penmarc Inspired Spaces installed the Preston closet. They arrived early at our home, were very professional, and did an amazing job installing the Preston. They were extremely prepared and executed the project well. They understood the vision, and were able to put together my dream closet. They even finished the job early, taking only 2 days to complete the install although they were scheduled to complete it in 3 days. My husband knew they were perfect for the job, because the first thing Erik did was tape the plans and renderings on each wall, so he and Luke had visual guides for every space. Very organized, thorough, and efficient! I had such a horrible experience with my Elfa closets (another Container Store product) being installed by Ace Hardware, that I was going to cancel my Preston order. I am so thrilled that Sophia helped me understand that the Preston install would be different, as Penmarc's team truly knew what they were doing. They have worked on Preston and Elfa closets for years. If only my Elfa closets had been installed by Penmarc, Erik, and Luke! It would have saved me a lot of stress, frustration, and heartache. Kudos again to Sophia, Erik, Luke, and Penmarc Inspired Spaces. I will definitely be a referral source for the Preston closet and Container Store.

We were in desperate need of a study duffle-like bag for our food stuff to be carried by pack…read moremules. We knew we wanted something waterproof and very sturdy, but that's about it. We stopped by The Container Store, hoping they had something duffle-like that would be suitable for that purpose. The store itself was pretty empty when we pulled up, so we had a couple employees that were extremely helpful! We couldn't track down the desired duffle bag we saw listed on The Container Store website, but the employees led us around the store to look at a handful of options. They even pulled the bags out of the packaging so we could have a better look, given we had some specific requirements in mind. We traveled from one side of the store in search of the perfect bag, and we eventually found one! It held up pretty decently on the total 16 miles haul by mules. I don't often stop by The Container Store in my hometown, but maybe I should considering how delightful the employees were at this one!

The very kind and helpful staff at the automotive section of Walmart really saved our bacon!…read more Literally, since we had baked on asphalt on one front tire that meant that any speed we drove over 60 resulted in a shimmy shake worthy of my sister Kate! After trying to remove the asphalt by driving one tire on the rumble strip, we exited the freeway and sought help. The tire store at the truck stop was useless, so we Yelped tires and located the Walmart automotive center. It was located behind the store so it was not visible from the street. After a few minutes of explanation they pulled the car into the tire bay. The almost new tire was fine, just coated in one spot with lumpy asphalt! We didn't need a new tire! While waiting inside the store we Googled asphalt removal and discovered the good old WD -40would do the job! We had to back out of the tire bay since the store couldn't use the product on the tire. We bought the large regular formula and sprayed down the tire. And waited a while...like ten minutes. The poet gooey asphalt started to melt, and we were able to drive away, shedding asphalt with every rotation of the wheel! Thanks Walmart for being so honest!
