Let me start with the pleasant part of my experience. The optometrist Dr. Freitag was amazing…read more Extremely thorough and explained everything well . He clearly cares for his patients. The booking process was a bit annoying as I answered a series of questions online , yet after submitting online red text popped up prompting me to call in to make the appt. I called the next day to re-try to book. When I called, The staff mbr indicated that they had no record of me in the system. Not a big deal... I re-provided my demographic info and was all set for an appt the following week at 11AM. Near the end of the call I was asked if they will be billing insurance. I stated that I am using Davis through BCBS. No specifics inquired about my policy or plan ... I hung up and was relieved as I am very overdue for an exam and vision is suffering. Prior to booking I had verified with my insurance (updated 2021) and this Shopko location was in network. Unfortunately, I was soon to learn that even though the optometrist office takes Davis, they do not take my specific plan..... I arrived to my appt ten min late and checked in. The staff was unable to find any record of my appt even though it was booked via phone call three days earlier as indicated above. Staff read me the date my profile was created (3 days prior) to which I stated that this is when I called and booked the appt... No biggie things happen and they surprisingly had the 11am appt originally promised to me still available. When I had originally called there was no record of me in the system per the staff member I booked with so somehow my info ended up in there but no appt booked... Did I call to just to complete a profile? I Sit and wait, staff is attentive to patients and friendly. The office is rather busy. The wait is brief and the staff mbr who did my first vision screening was great as well! Unfortunately, this is where things take a turn.. I'm sitting at the desk signing papers regarding contact competency and nearing the end of the visit provided a pair of trial contacts and paper script ... almost ready to leave I was in the office for at least 45 min and apparently nobody verified my insurance in that time. They then tell me that even though I have Davis vision they do not accept the Davis through my BCBS community plan... I am informed as to how the provider should no longer be listed and that they have had this issue before with BCBS as if this is info that I can resolve? I am informed how they are unable to bill for svcs I inform the customer service rep (whose name I am intentionally omitting as my goal is not to shame someone) that it is not my responsibility for the errors of insurance and business. The ball was dropped twice A. By the ins comp and B. by the staff who had multiple opportunities to verify ins specifics before service was rendered. If an incident like this has happened before then why is my insurance card or info Not asked for until my way out the door? If there is a version of Davis you do not take it is not unreasonable to ensure you screen for this. That is the businesses role in ensuring the problem does not repeat itself. Otherwise you are wasting our time. Further, when a customer calmly calls out a customer service professional representing that company on the businesses role in the problem? How about solutions? Instead, I was informed that my script and sample contacts are to be with-held. ( I have worked for companies and organizations that would never tolerate this and it is very sad to experience such disregard as a customer not being worth a simple effort to resolve human error. Please take a smidge of accountability. I spoke not a word and disappointedly pushed my unearned trial contacts and paper script toward the customer svc rep and walked out defeated once more that a person's pride and ego trumps accountability. I contacted corpororate and they were very understanding and listened. They called the store and the same store rep informed them that a 15% off deal could be made for me to have access to the trial pair of contacts and release of a piece of paper with my script on it. Anyone who truly wanted to be disrespectful could have walked away with both of those items. It certainly would have aligned with the role assigned to me as the "trouble maker" But instead, I am offered a 15% discount based on hands being tied due to a claim that I never made an appt.. (Even though I have the timestamp on my phone and a profile was created for me on the day I called to make the appt) Again, Dr. Freitag was likely the best optometrist I have ever seen- just be aware that if you see him at this location you re-check that your appt was truly entered in the system and if using insurance tell the staff that you want your insurance verified before any promised services are delivered This Review is intended to help guide others and represents my single experience with 1 Shopko Optical location Thank

Yikes is really the only word that comes into mind when I think about my experience here…read more Everything is way overpriced and what isn't overpriced is old, worn, and should probably be tossed. When you first walk in there is a locked case to the right of way overpriced Coach and other high brand purses. Walking further into the store will bring you to their checkout counter, and surrounding it just seems to be piles and heaps of merchandise on the floor that needs to be sorted through. It isn't very appealing. They do have a "boutique" section which is again surrounded by boxes and bins of random things. The store is not, in any way shape or form, handicap accessible. The shoe section is just a mess. Overpriced and a lot of the shoes have a tag stating that if you want to try both shoes on, to see an associate as they only put one shoe on the rack for theft reasons. If the prices were reasonable then I would totally be okay with stepping around a few boxes and digging for treasures. But sifting through used shoes that are $25 or more just isn't worth it. Ironically any shoes I found that were in nice condition and "on sale" that week were marked about twice as high as anything else. Not much of a savings. I won't be back.

They are always very friendly to me and have tons of clothes but it is really messy and cluttered…read more They need a back room for overstock and not just thrown behind the counter.
