I love The Floor for many reasons,…read morefirst and foremost being owner Kristie Schillaci and the wonderful community of dancers and celebration of movement she's cultivated. The new space is located on Monroe Ave and could NOT be more convenient. Make a quick left or right off the expressway and BOOM - there's easy parking lot around the back where the main entrance into the studio is. The studio is primarily focussed on dance for kiddos and teens, but I've been lucky to take some of the evening classes they offer for adults, all of which have been outstanding - even for me who is more of an "enthusiastic mover" than dancer. I love how convenient it is for me to make a month-long, once a week commitment to try something new and get moving in a new way. I am currently enjoying adult hip hop class and teacher Solange makes class FUN, accessible, and inclusive of all abilities. I can't recommend enrolling your kiddo here OR taking a class yourself enough. They offer a full schedule of ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, hip hop, and more for young learners, and sessions for adults are changed up throughout the year. Looking forward to watching The Floor shine in it's new home on Monroe for years to come!

The instructors are all officially trained and educated by this international franchise company for the very streamlined program of all kinds of dance - social, special event, recreational/casual, all the way competitive ballroom dance! This includes smooth (waltz, fox trot, tango), rhythm (chacha, rumba, East/West Coast swings) and all kind of club dances. You can come here alone, or with your partner. The instructor will guide you how to get to where you want to do step by step. Dance is the only activity Alzheimer Association recognizes as that can be good to prevent and mitigate dementia. I'm planning to stay in this program for my long, healthy and happy future. You can try their introductory mini lessons to see how things are done. No other place like this gem of Upstate NY!

Students have said that the teachers make learning fun and at the same time challenging while learning. Don't waste your money going anywhere else if you want an enjoyable experience for you or your child to learn to dance. Teachers are always accessible to talk to and are very understanding, patient and willing to help students and parents with any questions or concerns. Their competition teams are awesome and have won numerous awards. There is also alot of one-on-one attention given to students during their classes. I saw the other review and had to write one because our experience was very different. My daughter…read morewent there for tumbling and flying classes and summer camp and because she enjoyed the experience so much, she wanted to be on one of the cheer teams. To be clear, my daughter was 14 when she attended these classes--she was not a little kid wowed with camp activities. And she came with only a back handspring. She's competitive and likes the way the coaches push for results. Despite being "old" to start the sport, she was able to advance her skills through levels 2, 3, and 4. She cheered for two years and both years her teams won bids to The Summit in Orlando. This year she's cheering level 5. Competitive cheer is not a walk in the park. It is an intense sport that requires dedication and discipline. The coaches there are all about that. If you're looking for someone to deliver roses and sunshine to someone who isn't pushing him or herself to advance, this isn't for you. If you want someone to help your child advance his or her skills and your child is motivated to do so, then you should check it out.

If you're looking for a high intensity, group fitness class, join Victor Crossfit!…read more I moved to Rochester last year and by the time I started settling in, I felt like I needed to get in a routine in terms of my health and wellbeing. That's when Victor Crossfit came in. I had been trying to find a small gym with a focus on group workout (think boot camp style) for a few months before I saw an ad to try Victor Crossfit for 3 weeks at a reduced price. I figured minimal investment of time and money, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be locked into a long membership. That was in March, and now entering October, I still go weekly. Lance, Chelsea, Megan, and, Caitlin have creative an environment where you want to go in and work hard. Everyone is super supportive of each other, and the workout, at any level, will push you. The coaches always have scaled versions of a workout so that people will get a great sweat on no matter if they've been coming for 10 years or 1 week. I was never a fan of weights or developing huge muscles but seeing myself improve over time and get stronger, I wanted to keep pushing myself to get to the next weight. You'll feel this way too! The coaches don't force you to use higher weights but they will challenge you to push harder when they see you're going to easy. It's encouraging! I can't recommend this place enough!

It won't be long before you start seeing positive results, get stronger, and make some friends who all want to support and encourage you to get better along the way. CrossFit can be intimidating and often the people doing CrossFit can be even more so. This is a box where you dont have to worry about that. People check their egos at the door here. Coaches are great. They push you but don't overdo it. I came in 6 months ago at 255 lbs, herniated discs in my back, and doctors telling me I'd never lift weights over my head again. I've had to check my own ego, go wicked slow, and just keep showing up. Often the weights I do are well below the prescribed workout but I've gotten stronger and better and proven the doctors wrong. It's all about just showing up and getting a great workout. I'd highly recommend just making the call, and changing your life for the better. All you have to do is show up. Funny thing is that after a few weeks you really start to crave going. It gets addictive!
