Insists on customers making an appointment using third party vendor app. When I walked in there's no one there but she insists that I use the app. Not friendly either in case anyone had to guess. Yeah an app that requires setting up an acct, using my phone number and email. Who knows if I'll get even more spam after signing up. This is a neighborhood barber shop, not a fancy Manhattan salon. (Only thing in common is the attitude? ) The inflexibility with appointments is ridiculous. Sure, makes total sense to go through the trouble to set up an account just so they can have MY business, instead of going to 5 other barbers in the same area. I've been getting my haircut at Best Cuts with Mike for about two years now. I've never had an issue prior and the haircuts, though not the best I've ever received in my life, were more than adequate. He is appointment only and has been since Covid hit. No problem, I leave work 30 minutes early to make it by his latest appointment of 5 pm. I've never been late, and have in fact, waited 10-15 minutes before while he was finishing other customers. I never complained and just politely waited my turn. Today, I call to tell Mike that I am going to be 15-20 min late and that I am very sorry. I apologized sincerely several times and left it to his discretion to keep the appointment or reschedule. He insisted I pay a $10 late fee or I don't have to come back anymore. This is how to treat loyal customers that you've never had an incident with before? How do you think he'll treat you as a new customer? He was rude the entire call and made it clear my business isn't appreciated . Message received my brother. I'll take my business elsewhere. If he takes you late, make sure you ask for a late fee discount. Seems only fair. $25 is steep for a local Barber shop that is appointment only and rude besides. There are at least 3 other shops cheaper nearby. read more

Just superb. This afternoon I wandered into Best Cuts (I am a fugitive from a chain of salons named for a fruiting plant -- have I given it away? -- known for pleasant service and OK haircuts. But Mike is the real thing and I told him he has a new customer. What's different? A quiet, clean shop, brightly lit. Mike is gracious and friendly but doesn't insist on talking about sports, or talking in general if the customer wants peace and quiet. He asked me how I wore my hair at the start, and at every juncture, gave me choices. On a whim I decided to get a cut in great neck being that I live here now and my barber is 100 miles away... all guys know that when you start seeing a new barber the nerves set in... let me tell you, Mike was great!
