Ok, I took the long way to get here... but PHEW! Was it ever worth it! Anyone who knows me, knows that I *LOVE* to take pictures! It's so bad that my family calls me "paparazzi!" The one downfall in today's digital photography age is... that nobody gets to see the pictures! Seriously - when's the last time you gave someone photos? The most obvious way today is to share through an APP, like Facebook or Flickr, or Yelp for that matter - especially if it's a photo of food! Ok, so I love taking pictures... Now I need to share them, and some things are best not shared with the whole wide world on the world wide web. Zoom in on another hobby of mine: Memories books! Ok, so the rest of the world calls it "Scrap-booking", but I don't think of my pix as scraps! So there. Recently doing a project, I ran out of 4X6 photo paper (yes, I print them at home!) So I went shopping at a local store, where a package of 100 sheets of 4X6 usually costs about $25.00. And guess what? I ran out of those too! However, I wanted the paper cheaper than usual... I had an old box at home that showed I had paid $19.00, but obviously prices have gone up! So, thanks to a few friends who advised me to use a shopping APP called Flipp, I discovered that Best Buy had just what I wanted... for a mere $12.99 a box!! FABulous! So I ran out to my closest Best Buy... only to find out that they only had 2 boxes left! But other BBs had more on hand, although usually only 2 or 3 boxes. This store in "Farrhaven" isn't TOO too far from home, so after the shop in Kanata, I went there too, and picked up their last 2 boxes for the same price. I should be good with 400 prints - for now, anyway... Except, then when I got to the checkout, the clerk was real savvy, and you know how the cash registers are these days - like a live computer. When I complained (ok just a little whine), she asked if I wanted any more, and suggested that we could shop on line. That surprised me for a couple of reasons. First of all, why didn't I think of that?? I could have done this from my own living room!* Secondly, why didn't any of the clerks at the other BB suggest the same thing?! What gives?! I put an asterisk (*) up there because I would not have got such a good bargain on so many boxes by shopping at home: there was a limit of 3 boxes when ordering on-line. Probably just as well; I ended up buying a total of 7 boxes. Really, that's 700 photos. Put it that way and it sounds like a lot! GULP!! However, I've got at least 2 more Memory books to do, and I will need these! Eventually... Also, don't forget that printer ink costs money too! But just in paper, I've saved a lot of money: the cost went from about .30 cents a piece at full price to .15 cents at this price - including taxes. Worth it, IMHO; so very worth it! So I got really good customer service at this location. But LOOK what I had to do to get it!!! read more

I was left in awe how bad service is at this Bestbuy. I went in to check for a cell phone leather case and a Microsoft mouse. I was walking around trying to figure out which display was for my specific phone. I finally stumble to the right area, but I still couldn't find what I was looking for. After a couple of minutes of fumbling through some of the product, I was approached by someone that look like they worked at Bestbuy. I say that, because I told him what I was looking for and he pointed me to another rack of cases and continue to talk to another guy wearing a blue Bestbuy shirt- like the one he was wearing. But I was confused as if he worked there or not, because the only assistance I got was a pointed finger to a rack that I would have found on my own in less than a minute. I am guessing the other guy in the blue shirt was a more important customer, that was wearing a blue bestbuy shirt, talking about how amazing his photoshop skill were. I browsed for a leather case for my phone, on my own, with no further assistance from these 2 Bestbuy employees... standing 4 feet away from where I was. After that amazing experience, I gave up on trying to get any type of help with the other reason that took me into this Bestbuy. I collected myself, took a deep breath and went on the hunt for a mouse for a computer. After checking the Microsoft end cap and comparing what Bestbuy had to offer from Logitech, I wanted to see how the Microsoft mouse compared to the Logitech companion mouse. I was able to check how the Logitech mouse would feel on the display, but there was no display for the Microsoft mouse. So, I began my hunt for the near-extinction bestbuy employee, and I found one working at the geek squad. He was busy with another elusive consumer soul that wandered into this hollowed out store. As I waited another employee passed by and I asked her, if they had the mouse on display somewhere or if I could just open the box to try out the mouse. I was told, that I could just buy the product try it and then return it, if I didn't like it. That sounds rational, Right? Perhaps, it would have just been better to open the box right there. It would have saved me a trip, 2 transactions, and additional expenses to the store. Then again, I guess, if this is the new customer experience at Bestbuy, they don't mind the expenses of paying for bad customer service and additional losses. since they now have to pay someone else to check the return items, put them back out to the floor and return my money. Thanks for the memories, Bestbuy. I am going to go buy both items at amazon. read more

I bought a nice big hard drive to replace my old small ones and only backed my data up to it twice. Recently I went to use it and it wouldnt work. The manager couldnt find my email receipt, wouldnt repalce it and quoted me $600 to recover my data. Seagate the maker of the hard drive on the other hand was so helpful! I will never shop at a best buy ever again! read more

Super helpful staff at the Geek Squad/Customer Service desk. They helped me order a device to transfer my files from one hard drive to another, and didn't try to pressure me into paying three times as much for them to do the transfer themselves. My iPhone had a cracked screen as well, and I found them so nice and helpful that I had them do the repair, rather than taking it to an Apple store like I had originally planned. read more

I've been to this future shop a few times and its been a great experience. The employees are probably all under 30 and are fun to chat with about phones, headphones, cameras etc. The place is nicely spaced out and well lit, which is a big plus for electronic stores in my opinion. read more

Horrible experience, waited 15 minute for a commissioned sales staff to help. Ended up getting the store manager that was out of his element. He looked up the product on the Future shop website and tells me that is only 9 available in all of Canada and they are all on the West coast. BS. If mr manager change the store filter to Ottawa Ontario he would have seen that his store had the product in stock. It probably was in a backroom or in a storage bin but he just wanted to order it for me and have me comeback and pick it up. Then he got extremely offended that I did not want to buy it from him and wanted to try Best Buy or Apple. Better customer service might help! read more

The service was bad enough for me to write a review online. As a sales associate at a retail store I believe in customer service and how important it is, weather it be just enough to help, giving helpful advice, finding any way possible to make sure the customer either leaves the store with at least one product in which they are content with or to find any way to assist in helping the issue be resolves second hand. At this location, much like many other locations around Ottawa, the Automotive sections are being removed and brought to South Keys. to begin, while standing in front of the display speakers and inspecting them each, I see many Best Buy staff walking around on phones and spending more time looking down rather than helping the few customers roaming the store lost. After flagging one down and asking him about the speakers, I was told there were no more in boxes in the back which is understandable as the move has been in motion for a while. I kept a positive thought and was interested in buying the speakers on display, and of course the associate was not sure as to weather or not it can be done. The store manager mentioned that there was an individual who was electrocuted while removing the wires and they cannot do it themselves as I assume it is too dangerous now (?). I asked how what they will be doing with the display as it is a large wall disconnected from the rest of the store but used as a template to stand the speakers, they were to be moved to South Keys as well. According to the store manager, the geek squad were to be the ones demolishing the display board and moving the products to South Keys. Apparently there was no way for me to purchase a couple and wait for the team to take the board down and then let me know so I can pick up the old displays, rather I was told that I will have to drive to South Keys for any help with speakers. Throughout the conversations I had neither employees offered any words of advice or offered to find a way for me to not have to travel across town (As I do not have much free time as I work many hours), I was simply told that they could not to a single thing and they ended the conversation, they had no sympathy nor interested in helping me when I was in the market to buy their less desirable products. In conclusion it was simply a horrible experience and will be ensuring that I avoid Best Buy from now on knowing they do not truly value customer service nor customer appreciation. read more

Terrible customer relations and service received 3 items as a Christmas gift had a gift receipt 1 ,of the items was on a different receipt that i did not have was not able to get a store credit despite it was clearly purchased at Best Buy, it will he a longtime before i purchase there agdin there are many other options .very poor attention to retain loyalty read more

Went in to buy a fridge, washer/dryer and possibly a tv. 45 minutes not one person in the department. Ridiculous service. Maybe should bring back commission for sales reps cause they clearly do not have customer service in mind. read more

After driving more than 40 km to get there, I was met by 4-5 guys who seemed to have nothing else to do than to tell customers: "Sorry we take only cash today". Of course, I did not have cash for a drone. And there was no way they would accomodate me in any way even if it is easy to call a Credit Card provider to verify if the card has been reported stolen or it is still valid. But nothing of that, they were just too happy to send me back in the freezing rain. Easy to understand that I will never go back there. read more
