By the time she walked out of that store she owed them $890 for a TV that should have been 435 with tax. There was no delivery charge and she did not take a service policy. They talked to her into a new mount for her new TV and taking the old TV off the wall and disposing of it . And then for mounting the new mount and the TV . So she ended up paying $455 for the extras , more than the TV cost . Shame on you Best Buy for taking advantage of an elderly lady . Don't bother buying insurance they won't repair anything the manufacturer won't! I purchased a TV less than a year ago. Unfortunately a very small Christmas tree fell from a table and hit the 75" Toshiba. The screen is in perfect condition but it might be super sensitive and the pixels are damaged, the image is gone. The manufacturer warranty does not cover accidents neither does Best Buy. I spent time on the phone explained it all and they scheduled a technician but the morning of cancelled. So why did I pay for an insurance if does not cover accidents? Not even their staff knew because it doesn't make sense. Don't waste your money like I did. Best Buy lost a long time customer. A couple of years ago I bought a very expensive home entertainment system from Best Buy. Service at that time was excellent and I was happy with the system. Recently my Savant controller stopped working I tried getting answers online . That didn't work. Scheduled an appointment with the geek squad and the geek squad rep didn't even know what the device was. I tried to call Best Buy Plaza to talk to the rep who sold me the unit to get advice and discovered there's no way to talk to the people in the store. You get deferred to some stupid remote call center to talk to people that have no clue about the products they sell. The rep said he would refer me to the geek squad( the same ones who had no clue what the device was). I asked if he could connect me with the Mag lips rep at the store and he said he couldn't. At this point my only option is to drive over the store and try to hold my temper while I try to get some help. Don't buy Best Buy stock. The worst experience ever! I paid to have my TV mounted and they put it too high. They were asked to lower it and as seen in pictures below clearly they missed the memo. Then I call to complain and they say they will fix it, so I wait another week and the guy who shows up says the ticket is for technical difficulties.... So due to that I had to reschedule yet again and guess what, now there is no one in the area and I get to reschedule a 4th time. I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator for my 84 year-old mother in October and the compressor went out. I paid for a three-year extended warranty and when I called Best Buy they said "oh no you have to contact Whirlpool directly". Getting in touch with whirlpool is a very tough thing to do. The first time I contacted them I was on hold for an hour, then they tell me that the parts won't be here for 3 to 4 weeks. I called them today to find out the status of the part and they said they didn't have one and that it would probably be 3 to 4 weeks before the refrigerator will get fixed. I bought a laptop and needed data transfer, after 2 days I pick up my computer and it was half done, tabs were left opened looking like the final steps were not completed. Complete inability to speak with someone at the store. Transfers to a call center likely in India where they waste time confirming your name, spelling, email address, phone number, etc. and then when you explain the problem, they waste more time repeating your question before you learn that they can't answer the question anyway. Another example of offshoring gone horribly wrong. Bought $20K of appliances and struggle to get any support after the sale. Their Pacific Kitchen and Home state that they assign a person to take care of your high-end appliance sale. Once the sale has occurred - it is very difficult to get them to provide the support promised. Awuful, will not order or purchase from them in the future. Where are the clerks? Poor customer service. There do seem to be a lot of people in various uniforms standing around, but they are to busy to stop and help and answer some questions. Nobody knew where the parts I needed were, and I got sent all over the store. There seemed to be a lot of empty shelves, and they didn't have the part I needed. The prices were better than some of the places I've seen, but way higher than online prices, which is to be expected. At least the parking was easy. read more

I usually just window shop at Best buy and buy from Amazon but this time their deal was better because it was immediate with no waiting. I got rid of Comcast's modem by purchasing my own and now they will have to remove that $8 per month rental fee. It was a easy swap out and took about 5-10 minutes on the phone to get it activated. It is now working fine. I suggest that all you Xfinity customers check it out and you can do the same and save $8 per month. Just Google approved modems for Comcast and a site will come up and you can choose the one that you like. There are many to choose from. The only bad part about my experience here was there was only 1 cashier and a long line of customers waiting? I had to wait about 10 minutes to get waited on. No bueno! It's too bad I can't give 0 stars! I took my HP laptop in to have the hinge repaired. Apparently, this is a major issue with the model of laptop I purchased from Best Buy. I waited patiently in line and when it was my turn, I showed the laptop to the young man and asked to have a quote for getting it repaired. He asked me if I had the "club membership" and I told him no. I told him that I did not purchase an extended warranty and that was fine. He then said, "Well, the warranty won't cover this anyway". I asked again if he could give me an approximate amount it would cost to repair. He then asked me if I had the "club membership" again. I said no - again. He then said, the membership is $199 a year and covers the labor costs to repair the item but not the parts. I told him I was not interested and just wanted to know how much it would cost to repair. He then told me that Best Buy will NOT repair my laptop unless I buy this membership. I told him that is illegal and deceptive business practices since I was never told this and I have purchased 3 laptops and a TV within the past few years. I was never given the option to speak to a manager or any other explanation. I guess I should have listened closer to the conversation the other person was having with a customer - she was being told the same thing. Do NOT buy anything from Best Buy unless you want to be tricked into thinking they will repair it. If it's out of warranty, they want you to spend $200 PER YEAR on something you may never use. It's deceptive, entrapment, and WRONG! I will NEVER purchase another item from Best Buy nor will I recommend them. If I could give this Best Buy zero stars I would. I placed and order for a television to be delivered to my house a week in advance. Come time to deliver my television I get an email saying they would be to my house at 9:35. That did not happen, so I try calling the store and wait on hold for an hour and no one came to the phone. Hung up and called the 800 number and waited for an additional 30 mins for someone to come to the phone. Only to find out my television wasn't delivered because it wasn't ready. Yet I received messages all through the week saying my order delivery was coming up soon and I received an email on the day of giving me my estimated time of arrival.
