I had made reservations for our small group of past and present writers to meet up with our former manager for dinner at Earls. I was early. Nearby was this Best Buy. I decided to kill some time by visiting this store. There was lots of parking in front of the store. I backed my car into a spot and walked in. After being out and about for a couple of hours, I needed a washroom. The washrooms are located in the back right of the store, next to the TVs. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. No complaints. My bladder was happy. I went to peruse various areas of the store. I looked at earbuds and headphones. I liked a blue pair of wireless earbuds. I just need them to be on sale! I tend to look at phone accessories. I found everything from three-in-one USB cables, to extension cords with surge protectors. Laptop accessories were next. I am always interested in laptop chargers. I saw one that had a USB-C connection. Nice! I spent the most time in the cell phone section. I hadn't seen any of the Google Pixel 10 series of phones in person. It was nice to play with the Fold. I would love one, but it is rather heavy if you hold it to browse for a while. My next phone will be the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. It's nice. It has twice the amount of storage space as my 8 Pro. It was nice browsing and doing research here. ** 1-star is generous. Don't buy from this store location or you will be left with only problems. Take your business somewhere else** I bought a dishwasher in May and paid for full service which included a third party installation. I was assured it was going to be hands-free and worry free. 2 months later today, I still don't have a working dishwasher. They delivered two broken dishwashers (the first one was dented and the second replacement had a broken hose). As a result, there were 3 failed attempts where the contractors came but refused to install the dishwasher due to the damages or the parts Best Buy provided to fix the issue doesn't work (wrong model). To deal with this issue, I have taken numerous days off work and cancelled appointments/ trip plans to wait at home, but only to get their incompetent service. Worst of all, because the store doesn't have a phone number, and the staff never reply to their emails on time, even when you ask them to (during the contractor visit hours just in case), any issues require a store visit! So if you do decide to buy from this store, be prepared to visit the store every day to solve any issues and good luck with that. Their staff has zero communication with the warehouse or the third-party vendor whatsoever, so you will have to be an expert to know everything or the staff is absolutely clueless. I also don't think they even try enough - I was able to get the contractor's phone number and set them up to talk to each other when I was at the store, something none of the two sides thought of doing. Why couldn't the staff just pick up the phone? This is living proof that once they sell the product and take your money, they pretty much just cross their finger and hope it works. If anything doesn't, then joke on you. Good luck figuring that out. I escalated the issue to their store manager, Mike C. I sent an email to him and asked him to give me a call within 2 business days upon his return to resolve the issue - to this day, no phone calls, not even an email to confirm he's looking into it. He doesn't care. They do not care. Whenever you have any issues with your store purchase, you will have to visit the store. There's no other way. The useless phone line can only assist with online orders. You will have to insist on escalation and be lucky enough to encounter a rep that understands how frustrating their service really is. I was able to escalate to the head office after the 3rd rep. The other 2 either straight out told me he's not able to help, or promised for a manager to call back in a couple of hours. But guess what lol.. of course they never did. Worst experience with any company and any store. I don't understand how this kind of service could keep them afloat. I will never buy anything from Best Buy ever again, not from this store, not from any store. read more

If anyone is looking for a job and doesn't want to put any effort into it, I would definitely recommend this place! You practically have to pull on someone's shirt in order to get their attention in order to help you with something. And not that there's any shortage of workers there at all. It's just that they have extremely important things to do, like play games on their phone and socially gossip with each other despite you standing there waiting for one of them to help you with something. Because of course catching up on one another's social lives is much more important than actually helping customers with any of their inquiries. Not the first time I've noticed this either. We visited November 28 with a shopping list. First stop the LG Smart TV screens section. Immediately greeted by an employee of LG. He made all the difference - fast on his feet and very alert - and he had many blue coat assistants to help us complete the payment and transfer of everything to our car. Without the the LG rep there the selection process would have been much slower. When I told him I would be using headphones he kept me from purchasing the slightly cheaper tv model that was not so headphone friendly. We told him what we were using everything for and he did not skip a beat to recommend exactly what LG offered that would serve us best. The LG fella - he's a keeper. We purchased in the LG section of the store the 43" tv screen, 8ft HDMI cable, sound bar ensemble, and tilting wall mount. In and out, baby -bing, bam, boom! Then over to the computer section and a nice fella showed us the latest and greatest HP Black Friday deal on a smaller HP desktop computer ensemble, and then average priced wireless headphones. In and out just like that. We are not gamers and sure we got more bells and whistles than we needed but no complaints.... just need to keep up with the times. read more

This is the closest big box electronics store to where I am. Future Shop which is now closed was just on the east side of the 427. This is just on the west side of the 427 pretty much directly across the Queensway on the north side of Sherway Gardens. This Best Buy has been around for quite some time in this big box mall on North Queen along with Walmart and the Home Depot. This is a pretty large store and I've bought many things here mostly games and some home electronics such as speakers and a receiver but mostly when there are good sales. There are good sales to be had especially times like Boxing week and such. They have a rewards program but honestly I don't really care about it. These days I tend to buy more of my video games from EB but if I get Best Buy gift cards I have to use them here. I'm really not as fond of going to this store as I used to be in the past. Electronics purchases for me are not that common and I've built up my home theater to the point where I'm happy with it and I don't really have to tinker with it. The store can get crowded but for the most part I've never really had to wait in line for long. They have an online hold for items you wish to pick up just like what Future Shop had so that is somewhat convenient. read more

This is a great best buy! First, it's ENORMOUS!!!! I mean, a couple of football fields large! Second, find that best buy staff are always welcomibg and willing to help out. Even if you need something that's not in their area. I have found sales staff go out of their way to help. Not just this store, all best buy stores in Toronto, Mississauga and other cities, the staff are very helpful. I personally also think that generally speaking, the stores need additional staff, cause they are always with customers and there's always a bit of a wait! The service is very poor here, be careful. No accountability or integrity. I went to purchase a laptop ($1000+) but the entire transaction failed and I left with no laptop. However I was incorrectly charged $500 to my debit. A fairly decent Best Buy location, now that the area Future Shop is gone this is the only big box option for electronics in the 427 south area. I recently had an issue with my home theatre receiver which was purchased at another BB location a year earlier. Lucky for me I purchased an extended warranty and with little question the staff took the device in and sent it out for repairs. The estimated 2 weeks but told me it could take as long as 6 weeks. I received my repaired and cleaned unit in 3 weeks, so not bad in terms of timing at all. My issue with their warranty program is that you need to bring something in for the same issue 4 times before they replace it and give you a new unit. Three times it must be sent in for service/repair and on the 4th incident they're replace it. Sure they fix it for free under the warranty btu I'd rather just have the unit replaced each time, it's the manufacturers issue not the stores and not mine. Everything is working fine now so I'll keep visiting, hopefully just not for repairs read more

Boxing Day craziness!!!!! I was going to go to Best Buy early this morning. The chance at winning a $500 gift card WAS enticing. However, sleep won the fight. I got to the store at about 7:30. Yes it was crazy busy. Yes you couldn't tell which lineup went where. But more importantly, YES there were still deals to be had. I picked up the point and shoot camera and the colour laser printer I had spied in the flyer. No need to line up at 5 in the morning. I live in the US and I ordered pictures of my son through Kodak Gallery Canada. The way it works, you order them and they get sent to a local Best Buy Canada. My parents tried to pick up the pics on three occasions and each time they were told the pics weren't there. Today I feel like the Hunchback of Notre Dame! The professional looking over the shoulder briefcase I used to carry my laptop when I was a Marketing manager is certainly doing me no good in school! I spent all of last year begging people to help me carry my stuff and this year enough is enough! I have been searching everywhere for a laptop backpack and finally found one at Best Buy's online store. Since there was a location not too far from me and the Website indicated there were 5 in stock, I decided to trek it over. Finding the carrying case section was first and foremost a challenge, and once I did find it, my backpack was nowhere in sight. I asked one of the clerks if he had the brown plaid back packs I had seen online. He checked the back room and came back with a brown over the shoulder bag: Clerk: Like this one?! Me: "NO I want a back pack... you know they go on your back" *adjusting backpack straps gestures* Clerk: *shrugs shoulders than proceeds to lie* Nope, there are none back there and none showing in stock at this location. I felt defeated, I knew they had these backpacks at the Yonge and Dundas location and here I was like a suckers in Etobicoke arguing with some kid over f*cking bag! As I made my way way out, I found another display of backpacks and there they were... 5 brown plaid bags big enough for all my crap and my laptop! Worst customer service experience of my life Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Purchased a fan off their marketplace, the fan we were sent didn't work. I let the marketplace seller know (housewares and more) as feedback, not requesting a new item or a refund. They then offered us a refund or new fan which I thought was very nice considering they didn't have to with their return policies. I did NOT take the refund and suggested another fan since we needed one for our daughters room still. (As the one they sent didn't work). So they said we have to return the one we have and will email us a shipping label. With COVID, my husband is working from home and I'm on Maternity leave taking care of a newborn and a toddler, in which we don't have access to a printer. Given the circumstances, I ordered the fan online so I wouldn't have to take them to a store. I let them know that I don't feel comfortable going to a store right now and the seller, Housewares and More, said there's nothing they can do then. Best Buy became involved after Housewares and More insulted and angered my family. Housewares and more said that I was trying to take advantage of them - which they accidentally sent ME that message, not Best Buy. It is incredibly insulting especially because I never requested a refund or a replacement, they offered. As well, how dare they say that because I don't feel comfortable taking my newborn out into a pandemic that I'm taking advantage of them!! I took a video of the fan, proof it does not work, told them they can send a courier to pick it up, etc. It's getting recycled. After Best Buy read the message chain they offered a refund, which I responded with I'm not sure how that's possible at this point as my credit card has been compromised and cancelled. I was issued a new one, but different number. They responded saying they have issued a refund. (Neither Best Buy or housewares and more ever fully read the messages). So then I reiterate the same thing, that credit card is no longer valid. They then say that they can only complete refunds to the card that purchased the product. So here we are, weeks talking in circles and nothing is resolved. Something I never asked for now resulted in me no longer purchasing anything from Best Buy again. This has been by far the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They gave me a product that doesn't work. They shamed me for not wanting to bring my children out during a pandemic. They then said they cannot issue a refund because someone stole my credit card number. (Ever heard of store credit/gift cards?) They kept my money and didn't provide a working product. Just left Best Buy on north Queen without spending my $ 2,000.00 budget allotted for home audio! We were all set to purchase 3 of the new Sonos sound bars @ $ 499.00 each to add to our Sonos home system. We advised the representative that the sound bar was only playing music and we'd like to hear a few videos. He tried to play the videos which did not work, left and returned 30 seconds later to advise us the sound bar was unable to play videos as it was broken. No effort to help us any further. DON'T SHOP AT BEST BUY! I recently purchased a washer and dryer set from Best Buy Sherway that came to $2034.00. The delivery company that they use damaged the dryer significantly upon delivery (smashed corner rendering it impossible to level). The washer had major scratches on the control panel, and they scratched my hardwood floor in two places during the delivery. I'm not too concerned about the floor, as I can cover it with a runner, but I was told that I would receive compensation for the washer damage, or I could return it. After a week of waiting, over a dozen phone calls, four unreturned or acknowledged emails, three phone messages unreturned, and another visit in person, they finally offered me a $50 gift certificate. They delivered the replacement dryer in good order four days after the initial delivery, but refused to install it. After a week of waiting with no answer on whether I need to return the washer or take their "offer", I went ahead and installed the washer and dryer myself. Throughout the process, they passed the buck from the store to the delivery company, never giving a clear message of what, if anything, would come of my damage report. I had the opportunity to buy scratch and dent products from a number of sources before I ended up at Best Buy. A $50 gift card for damage to a $1200 item is an insult. There is a 30 day guarantee in which I can return it, and I assume that they will honour it, but I will not be wasting anymore of my time trying to contact Best Buy or reinstalling a stacking washer & dryer. OK Best Buy Canada, if you want to know why you are losing the battle with online retailers, try this. Now, please bare with me as I unfold the story. I promise I will make my point at the end of this. I filed an extended replacement warranty claim with Best Buy Canada (Geek Squad) the 1st week of July to fix my broken TV. Many calls (& hours of my time) later you sent me an email (July 10th) thanking me for scheduling an appointment with Geek Squad. As I had not yet had an appointment scheduled it took me several more calls over the next week to finally get a confirmation on the appointment which was to be on July 18th. Yet, when the "tech" called to arrange the appointment he stated he was just making the appointment, not attending on the 18th. After a discussion he agreed to look at the TV on the 18th and then verified it was broken and needed to be replaced. Now the fun starts, he would need to submit a report and then about 4-5 days later someone would evaluate it and contact us. WOW! After a week goes by, I again began the task of calling the Best Buy Canada Geek Squad line to find out what is happening. When I finally get through, I am told the case will be turned over to "a store manager" for me to come in and get a replacement TV. Do I have a choice in selecting the store to shop at, NO. A few days later I receive "the call" through voice mail telling me to come to the store (Murphy's Law - of course it is one I have never had any luck with in stock items, even before this Cov*D stuff started). Also, there is no way to respond to the call as Best Buy Canada stores no longer answer phones, nor do they let you leave messages. OK, now for the really interesting part. After going into the store this past Sunday (Aug 2), selecting the replacement TV (did I mention the shelves are empty at Best Buy Canada and every comparable model needs to be ordered) I completed the transaction with a promise to have it shipped by Aug 7th. Best Buy Canada if the shortcomings outlined so far are not enough to realize you have some problems with your customer service, here is the kicker. Early evening Sunday (6:30PM) I get an email from Best Buy Canada stating "Your order has shipped #83677xxxx". I got excited thinking WOW, that was really fast, and I will have a functional TV by the end of the week. HaHa! The jokes on me again. This morning (Tuesday Aug 4th) when I click the link to "Track shipment" I find that only the shipping label was printed on Sunday. Best Buy Canada has not actually sent anything, and Purolator has not actually been provided with my TV for delivery. Apparently Best Buy Canada feels that printing a shipping label is the equivalent to shipping a parcel. Now for my point, I promised I would make it so thanks for sticking with me. On the same Sunday I received the email that "Your order has shipped" from Best Buy Canada I placed an order on Amazon.com (confirmed at 8:44PM) for a seat cushion. The order was to be fulfilled by Amazon.com. On Monday morning I received an email from Amazon.com that my order had shipped. When I clicked the "Track Your Package" link I was delighted to see that it was in the possession of the courier. Apparently Amazon.com views "shipped" as to have been shipped, unlike Best Buy Canada who view printing a shipping label as being shipped, and my package from Amazon.com arrived at my door just about noon today (Tuesday Aug 4th). Best Buy Canada my order is still showing as label printed and not in the hand of a courier, even though you were delighted to tell me on Sunday that it had shipped. I think that Best Buy Canada might do well to look at themselves and ask why customers like me are turning more to companies like Amazon.com for retail products. Setting expectations and delivering on them are keys to ensuring your customer base is satisfied with your organisation. The current state of the world is presenting challenges that many companies have never faced but that does not provide a new platform where every shortcoming can be explained away by the virus. Your Geek Squad people blame Cov*d for their delays, your store managers blame Cov*d for not answering phones, your store personnel blame Cov*d for lack of staff and inventory. It is easy for a company to hide behind a vail of excuses but those companies who will survive and thrive during these times will find ways to accommodate and work with the needs of their customers. It may not be pleasant to provide honest answers but setting expectations which are real and honest will prevent buyer remorse and resentment for the purchase. In my case, your store employee told me that the TV would ship by Aug 7th, not Aug 2nd. That became my expectation. Why set an unrealistic expectation through a false narrative? read more

I had to follow up myself numerous time in the actual frame I bought with the TV because the rep couldn't be bothered. Not impressed! I was told I would get a free calibration service with my TV. Geek squad came to do this but it they couldn't perform because the Tv was still too new. Did they ever schedule to come back .... no! And I didn't really care because it was free. Fast forward a year later I get a charge from geek squad for $271 on my credit card for an annual fee. So they rep lied to meet his targets which is just absolute horrible service. Philips shaver was on sale during Christmas but you couldn't purchase it, they then had it in the store on Dundas Mississauga but now it is on sale again and out of stock! this location always seems to set the bar lower, each and every time i walk into it...and yet, i keep coming back...like an idiot... we were in a section of this store, trying to weigh out the pro's and con's of certain models, all while open to the idea of someone coming to speak with us and help us out. ten minutes of discussion and back and forth with each other, and still no help from a salesperson, when we went to pick up the "chosen" items we were approached by a sales associate, FINALLY! i proceeded to tell them that they had the chance to help us, and chose not to, we made our decision without them, grabbed our items and walked out. when we got to the cash was another similar situation. we weren't asked how our day was, if anyone helped us, or anything other then hi and how are you paying. when i proceeded to confront the cashier with the lack of service from the department we grabbed from, he came with excuse after excuse, to the point where he asked if i wanted to speak to a manager, i responded with, is speaking to a manager really going to do anything? he responded with no probably not. i thanked him for his honesty, to which he rebuttled with "oh you can thank the government for the eco fee's on your item" which i thought was a bit strange to be brought up. read more

Saturday late afternoon experience: Ask staff member #1 where i can find earbuds and am told they carry very few - if any- and they can be found by check out. Check out staff member does try to help out and after consulting another colleague, directs me to audio. Staff member #2 in audio tells me it's "the next aisle". After going up and down aisle in front of idle staff member #2,i decide to try another aisle. Earbuds galore but need some info so i ask Staff member #3 (chatting with 2 colleagues) for assistance and am told he'll need to call someone. Hmmmm. i wait and wait and wait and finally see Staff member #4, slowly walking toward me. I'm uncertain if he is approaching me so i do a friendly wave and get a "what?". i say "is that a proper way to greet a customer" at which point he claims it was a "hi". I say "don't worry about it" and walk away. He walks back to his colleagues-with purpose this time-to describe what happened. Another colleague tells him i am behind him. I ask his name-Peter. Early 20s. Staff like the ones i encountered at this Best Buy do a disservice to the company and should find themselves jobs that do not include customer service. read more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: I went to go buy a pair of headphones and was having trouble locating where to get the headphones I wanted, I looked for someone to help when I finally got to someone they said they would get someone to help me and left. 30 minutes passed and no one had come to assist me, I decided to go to another worker to help and they redirected me to another coworker of theirs. Only for them to redirect me again to another AND AGAIN TO ORDERING AND PICKUPS. I got to the ordering and pickups asking about my headphones and they said they did not have them in stock at the store, so I did what my friend said she did that day and asked to order them online. They told me they could not order that day which makes no sense since my friend had done it an hour before. I wish I could give this 0 stars. HORRIBLE SERVICE. The people assigned to departments in the store DO NOT and I stress this, DO NOT know what the f*ck they are talking about. Nor do they care to help you. The worker I was dealing with was so unenthused with helping me I felt uncomfortable even purchasing my product even though it was $1700.00. I was even told to go grab my own accessory for the item I was purchasing... this may be normal to do, but I do not think that is proper customer service. Asking a worker for help with what you would need to make your product work better, and to be pointed in a general direction by the worker and told "I don't know, any of them really. Are you new to this?" which I was shocked at. Obviously I'm new to this or I wouldn't be asking you... there was no urgency to help me as a paying customer. They did not even offer to walk with me to the section and help me pick up the best option for my needs and what I was using the product for. Just a blank stare and a point in the direction I was supposed to walk and look for myself. Absolutely none. They're there to help you, but really, they're not. If I knew this would be the case I would've ordered online. ON TOP of this- the worker gloated to his other co-worker about what he was selling... mind you, I took this as how much commission he was going to make which pushed me off the edge. I work from home and i study on my laptop. One day i decided to change my laptop HDD to SSD so i went to best buy. I purchased an SSD and paid extra 50$ for installation for it to geek squad. I was told it will be ready by tomorrow and will give you call once its done. So i got a call and i went there to pickup. They hand the laptop to me saying the job is done. I went home and opened my laptop. The laptop body is ruined, they used wrong screws to install parts on my laptop and the screws came out of the body on the screen side and there is a dead pixel on the screen with some scratches now. The track pad wasn't working as it wasn't fitted properly, it almost popped out of the place and made it unclickable. so i went back to best buy and the guys were like we cant do anything, i have to send this laptop to manufacture to replace the body. also, they dead pixel is not our fault. They wanted me to wait for almost 3 weeks so they can fix the issue that they created at first place. i kept my cool and asked for a loaner laptop (i was told NO at first until i talked with the manager) the manager gave me a Chromebook, seriously a Chromebook? I study cybersecurity and I run a virtual machine on my laptop i need windows or Mac-based computers to do my study. The manager said i can't do anything about it but give you a Chromebook. The manager is really rude and she has no idea what she is doing there. Now i don't have my laptop for 3 weeks, i can't study for 3 weeks, they probably won't fix the dead pixel issue they created. i just hate this company so much now. I mean they dont have value for your time nor they care what can affect you for loosing your stuff (which is not even your fault). I wish i could send this message to higher level to resolve this issue sooner or at least give me a good laptop to study. i will never buy a single thing from best buy, i just lost faith in you, i am very disappointed. I just want my laptop back with the issue fixed. i cant wait for 3 weeks. I didn't have a job for the last 8 months and i very upset with my life right now. dealing with this company made me more upset. I never cried for the last 10 years, i really cried in front of the geek squad staff and they said "we can not do anything" even though they are the ones who ruined my laptop. They put a different screw that doesn't even belong to this laptop. I mean how can I trust them, what if they changed my hardware and put something old or faulty one. Phone help: Non existent. Nobody answer the phones. Customers dial and get interminable ringing, over and over. Total disrespect for the customer. I talked to the store manager Doug to complain about the above (he was rude and defiant) and his answer was: "We are going to eliminate the phones to the store because after the store renovation we do not need them".??? Why have them listed then? Why the salesmen and service guys emphasize to the customer to call in for support etc? Then I tell Doug that service had messed up my Macbook Pro I just had bought, together with the BestBuy service plan (not cheap at $29/Mo), and that because I didn't get the support they promised 4 hrs before I had to come in person to fix my laptop and his answer was "people make mistakes". I asked him whether he was going to do something about these issues (phone not answered and poor tech service) and he said "No, anything else?" I said no. And he walk away. It is unbelievable the rudeness, contempt and defiance the fact they are the only store where you can buy electronics can generate in a store, the manager and employees - (who surely follow Doug's lead in lousy customer service). I went to Etobicoke location to have a screen put on my iPad 2, the clerk told me it would take 24 hours since it had to dry. That same evening I got a call from a rep telling me it was ready and apparently no drying necessary since I was buying the new invisible shield. I get to the store and the clerk at the back where geek squad is located brings me my iPad and I see bubbles on the screen, he is trying to convince me it's dirt. So I point out the other 3 spots he is unable to clean and agrees its bubbles and has to redo it. He tells me I have to come back because it needs drying time so he will call by closing and let me know if it's ready. He never called, I tried for 2 straight hours to call the store and no answer. Since I don't live near the location I wanted to speak with someone before heading down. I finally called head office who also tried calling and after 20 minutes gave up and came back to tell me there is something wrong with their phones and I should call back in two hours. Well, it took 3 days to have a screen put on my iPad and I don't believe I got what I paid for. The screen is grainy and horrible it's straining on the eyes. I've been trying for several days to again have someone answer the phone but no luck. It's not like it was cheap, the screen cost me $29.00 and installation $25.00. I will NEVER go there again and will reroute people at every chance I can. I have bought all my electronics at Best Buy but will no more. I would rather rip off the screen then and lose the money then spend another cent there! read more
