Joe, Nathan, the store manager, and all the reps are wonderful! They top Lowe's customer service in Chapel Hill 10x over. However, my Bosch double oven was a great disappointment. It doesn't heat up and cook food properly. Trying to maintain cleanliness is the worst. Fingerprints remain for an eternity, no matter how hard you try to remove them. The sound from the double oven fan is horrific. The Bosch gas stove top was made with cheap materials and is not even worth your time. Therefore, I just decided to upgrade to the Thermador. The Bosch dishwasher is beautiful; however, they are replacing my double oven. I pray I won't be disappointed. read more

After you get through the horrible AI interface by pressing "0" several times, it then takes you straight to an international call center and you get to speak to an associate who's English is either a 2nd or 3rd language for them. Drove half an hour for a scheduled iphone repair. Made plans for dinner down the street so we could pick it up when they were done. Arrived, and was told that the Apple tech had already left. The manager said maybe he had an emergency. Then why didn't they call, email or text to tell me about the cancellation? I'd already received 3 texts to confirm the appt. 15 min after I left, I got a new text; "appt cancelled". Great. What a waste of time. This store is slowly going out of business. I will start off by how horrible calling this place is. NOT one human to speak to..ridiculous and frustrating...this place is full of employees who know nothing about anything.. And since they know nothing about anything, I was lied to about setting up a LIVELY account for a friend of mine because no one who currently works there knows how to do it even though I set mine up in the spring. Perhaps all trainees ought to be taught where the pickup room is for items as I waited over 20 minutes for doofus to try to find my purchase I went to pick up which was, oddly enough, in the pick up room. I am a long-term customer who loves to support brick and mortar businesses. However, this company has done everything in its power to ensure I won't be back. Don't bother making an appointment with them for repairs. They absolutely will not honor it. I don't think they understand the concept of what an appointment means. And as for their service, they act as if they are doing you a favor to even interact with you. If they do deign to speak with you, it will just be to tell you why their bad service is really your fault. Don't expect any attempt to rectify the situation or an iota of contrition for having wasted your time. Just sad and a testament to why their company is tanking. If I could give them a 0 I would. I've never had such a bad experience in dealing with a store. The salesperson who sold us our washer and dryer overcharged us, charged us for items we did not need as well. When delivery time came I got a call from Geek squad saying they had to reschedule because they did not have anyone who could deliver. Promises to call back broken, people who did not know what the problems were until finally the 3rd person of the day understood and rescheduled for today. The truck arrived, 5 days after it was scheduled to be delivered. Missing parts to install. Must reschedule for 5 more days away. REPEATEDLY they overcharged, screwed up, showed clear incompetence. What did they do to resolve it? Nothing. Offer to reschedule or refund. But they refuse to refund the full amount paid. I was told by the call service person that they work directly under the CEO and that there was no one higher in the company that could help resolve my issues. I've been a customer of this company for years, but the level of incompetence and lack of care for a customer is ASTONISHING. Literally the worst business practices I've experienced ever. Please reconsider if you are planning a major appliance purchase at Best Buy, specifically the Durham store. I purchased an expensive cooktop on Oct. 11, 2025 and it is still not installed. Today is November 18th. I actually had texts this morning saying that they were in route and five minutes away. Not true. Upon purchasing I expressed that just because it was the same manufacturer - that didn't mean that this cooktop would necessarily fit. I even brought the specs of the opening. Criston repeatedly assured me that it would or that it would be returnable. When their installer came - it did not fit. I then made a follow up appt. and found (with great difficulty) someone who could cut the granite. When he came he asked why the installer hadn't unhooked the gas. As a fabricator he said that he could not do that and left. I then called a plumber who did so for $258. The granite was then cut (the next day) for $450. Best Buy's installer was to come the next day. The window they gave me (via text) was between 2-5 pm. At 5:30 they called to say that they never provided that window and that they would be 6:30 or later. We went back to the Durham BB on Saturday due to the fact that no human being is available to speak to - apparently throughout the entire company. He assured me that none of this should have happened and that we were a priority and installation would occur on Tuesday. I told him that Monday would seem more like a priority, but here we are... Several texts came in indicating imminent arrival as well as texts saying that they'd call within a day or two to reschedule. I then cancelled an appt. and headed to the store 25 minutes away. Criston was not in so I spoke with Nick who would have me believe that he cannot have contact with anyone in Customer Service, Installation, Dispatch or any of his superiors. He was at best, smug and at worse, disinterested. Thanksgiving is next week and I had spent the morning preparing foods in advance as I thought that I would have a cooktop today. Many if these will have to be tossed. In the course of these past few days I have spent hours trying to reach someone, anyone. Criston went no contact. I tried many times to reach him on the number he once contacted me on. People seemingly from around the world have been pointing fingers and placing blame. One gentleman told me that the store was "not being honest with me". They say that I have another appt. in 4 days. Not really sure that I should hang my hat on that promise. To add insult to injury, Nick offered me an appointment days LATER than I already have. Well done. The service or lack thereof has been a comedy of errors. I urge all consumers to go elsewhere. Something happened today that had me smile just a little. Michael and Sons HVAC in NC were here yesterday and we made a deal on a new furnace. They said that they would arrive this morning to install. They're here.. as promised. read more

I will never set foot in this store again. They should display a BIG RED sign larger than their store name: "14 days return policy!!!" in case you miss all the other red flags. I tried returning something a few days over the cutoff that was clearly defective. They basically told me it wasn't their problem and to call the manufacturer. I was angry at this point because this was the 4th time I had been there with the same problem. I should have just gotten a refund the 1st time. The guy wasn't hearing it, told me a manager would talk to me shortly, which was a lie. They called the police instead!!!! Yes, you heard it. I left and went to the Southpoint store where they took care of me without any stress or BS of any kind. BTW, the New Hope store looks like a third world slum compared to the Southpoint store. Lol. Did not think I would be leaving a review of Best Buy on YELP, but every last person in the store was soooo nice and helpful when my husband and I went in on Sunday, July 13th. I was in a hurry that day, but I almost walked back in to speak to the manager and praise the employees. You all know who you are. 1. I asked about a thermostat and if it needed a C wire. The young man was unsure. He found me later in the store to confirm that it did not need a c wire. 2. T. V. Area-- young man gave some helpful info on tvs. Seemed really knowledgable, and although I wasn't buying, he was still providing useful info. 3. A young women asked me if I needed anything as we walked out the the TV area. 4. As I walked out the door and said goodbye to the young man sitting at the exit he said, "stay safe out there :)". Very nice. People seemed relaxed and happy the day I went in. Maybe it was just a good day, but hats off to the manager and the employees. The store was low on stock, but there might be a seasonal rotation going on after the 4th sales. I will definitely go back to my neighborhood Best Buy . read more

I bought printer ink (over $70) that would not work in the printer. When I called tech support, they said it was bad ink. I returned to Best Buy, where I was told they wouldn't take back open ink. I explained that I didn't know it was bad until I opened it. I spoke to the manager, Eric, who explained that they don't make the ink. I told him I didn't think that Best Buy made anything in their store. They buy it all from other people. Eric told me to reach out to the manufacturer and get a refund from them. I asked him I why I would purchase a product from Best Buy if they aren't going to back it up and just direct me to the manufacturer. Why shouldn't I just buy straight from the manufacturer to start with? He told me "for the convenience." I told him it wasn't convenient to make two trips to Best Buy, end up with non-functioning ink, and out $70. I also explained that I would not be shopping at the store again, as I could not trust them to be responsible for the products they sell. Eric continued to insist he had no way of knowing I had not "tampered" with the ink, as if I spend my time driving around to Best Buys trying to get free computer ink. Eric kept telling me that I would get my money back if I went to the manufacturer. By that logic, can't Best Buy get their money back if they go to the manufacturer? Isn't that how it works? Best Buy buys the products and sells them to me. If they don't work, I take them back to Best Buy, and they deal with the malfunctioning product? Otherwise, what purpose do they serve? This is the death of retail. Their only edge was customer service, but they clearly don't know how to provide that. Skip Best Buy. Go online. That's what they prefer. read more

I don't usually complain about waiting in line but when I'm the only one standing in an empty line made specifically for "customer service" and no one is there to help me with no one to help me, it's questionable. I stood there for 15-minutes and eventually went to the check-out line. I asked if they could help me do a return and the person wanted to send me back to customer service. Okay, they're pretty much the only electronics chain still standing in the area (I couldn't stand HH Gregg). However, they're sill my first option for shopping for electronics like TVs and computers. The staff are generally knowledgeable and professional. I know music CD's are practically extinct but this used to be my go-to place to buy those as well. Best Buy has a good website and good buy-online-pickup-in-store options. Sometimes I wish they had a bigger selection in the stores, but I know I can always check the website. read more

The last two times I was at this store, I had a terrible shopping experience. I used the Best Buy app to utilize curbside pickup: neither time did it work. Both times, I waited a long duration of time in my car, yet nobody ever came to me. As a result I had to go inside the store both times to find a deserted "Store Pickup" table with nobody there. After waiting in the usual checkout line I was able to get my order, but if you want to use the COVID precaution of curbside at this store, don't expect it. Do not shop Best Buy. I had a freezer delivered with damage. Immediately called to report damage and customer service offered either an exchange or credit of $200 to keep it. Since it was just cosmetic damage I agreed to keep it and have a credit issued. 2 weeks go by and no credit. Called back and told the "system"was down and they would call me back. No phone call received. Called today and they say they will only offer me 10% credit or exchange. Told them to come get it and bring me a new one. She then said they couldn't since it was past 15 days. Had issues with delivery also. Will never spend another dime at this store and will let anyone that ask the same thing. read more

Good Best Buy. Big parking lot, right across the lot from Walmart and in a plaza with many other stores. Clean store, friendly employees. They were very helpful as we were looking for several specific items. I was surprised at all the sales going on at that time. We got a great deal on a wireless mouse and though they didn't have a heat sink processor cooler fan, they were very helpful, searching their shelves and finding it online. However, their only solution was for us to purchase it from their online store, whereas we were hoping to order it and pick up in-store. Regardless, there was still a great selection throughout, as well as ample cell phones and apple products. Though it's tough to beat Amazon prime's 2-day shipping and low costs. read more

My 72 year old father recently ordered a new refrigerator from Best But, the Geek Squad came out and installed the refrigerator but destroyed the pipe for the ice maker. We called out a plumber and was charged 300 dollars for labor and it still wasn't able to be fixed unless a new pipe is installed for over 600 dollars more. We called Best Buy corporate office and filed a claim and they haven't been heard from since. Stay away from this place! read more

We stopped going to Best Buy year's ago because of bad costumer service. When we moved to NC, we had to stop by the Durham NC store ( close to Chapel Hill). We were very surprised by the excellent costumer service , knowledgeable staff, and good management ( some of the managers ( Keith) are not there anymore but some ( Bryan in the Mobile department), are still there). It seems this is one of the Best Buy stores that management really cares about the costumers and the costumer service is excellent. I ordered surface pro, the signature cover and the pen, but ended up with only the pen. They were out of the tablet and totally forgot about my cover! I specifically required the black cover and the staff said he could get me the bundle deal, but on the receipt only the tablet was there. RE: GEEK SQUAD: DO NOT EVEN TRY to use this service. technician was only average: fixed some things, goofed up others. After making a follow-up appt, tech did not show up having left the company, failing to contact me. I tried to arrange an appt. BUT: It's impossible to contact either Geek Squad and/or Best Buy: I have spent, in a two day period, cumulatively 2.5 hours on hold following endless phone tree messages on 3 (!) different phone numbers. Have gone to Hello Tech: easy to communicate with, much narrower windows for service (1-2 hrs v 6) and apparently wants my business and Geek Squad does not. read more

I took my laptop here that died while I was writing one of the most important documents of my life, the computer would not turn on and I thought all data was lost. I had flown in from Los Angeles for only 2 days and they got all this done in 12 hours. Toby, Alex, and Tyler of the geek squad team did an amazing job extracting 100% of my data from my old PC and converting it into Apple compatible files. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Toby was exceptionally helpful in getting me back to class as quickly and efficiently as possible, and is truly an amazing and kind soul, geek squad is lucky to have him on the team. read more

In a previous post I criticized the local Best Buy at New Hope Commons in Durham. Briefly, I had picked up an item I ordered online. Meanwhile, the online order was canceled and my money was returned to my account. So I got the item at no cost. I bought this to the attention of the management at New Hope Commons. They charged me the store price which was $10.00 more than the online price. They have refunded my $10.00 and so now I am satisfied with the transaction. read more

I was going to buy a laptop. As I walked in I was greeted by security. I walked over to the laptop dept and there was an employee finishing up with another customer. We made eye contact, he turned around and went in the back. I started looking at laptops literally almost every laptop that was in my range, $1000. Another worker came over with a customer and they continued to chat. By this time I had to have been there about 3 minutes, still no one approached me. I then looked at my watch to see what time it was. I continued touching,looking and walking thru the dept. The one gentlemen finished his conversation and I'm not sure which way he went. And yet another employee came over and started straightening the laptops up on the lower shelf. I went right to him and stood next to him still looking at computers one by one. He kept re-arranging and still no acknowledge of me. I walked around him and made myself noticed, nothing. By then I had been there 8-10 minutes. He finished arranging and went another direction outside the laptop area. As I walked to the security I noticed several employees just standing around but not in the dept I was interested in. I stopped to ask him to let the manager know what I experienced and walked out. I felt very offended. I was ready to talk with someone about which computer to buy. And with a little help on which computer to buy and good customer service I would have spent well over the range I was looking for.
