Delivered washer dryer set as promised. Dryer had issues and would only run about twenty minutes and shut off. After consulting with tech support it was determined that dryer had a faulty sensor. Best Buy decided to replace dryer instead of repairing one delivered. Delivery of replacement dryer has been a nightmare. Customer support Is useless. Don't waste your money on the subscription plans. For some reason, if you order online instead of buying in the store, the item purchased will not be covered under a My Best Buy Total plan, rendering the plan virtually useless. In addition, the "Geek Squad" is unable to actually repair anything and is constantly looking for loopholes so they don't have to actually repair an item. It is much simpler to go directly to Apple. I'd like to give a huge shout out to an amazing employee named Yemi! I was shopping for a laptop for school as I'm a full-time nursing student at Parkland in my regular laptop was on the fritz two days before I had my first assignment due for my spring semester. I was looking around at multiple stores, but they seem to have all of the displays down and I won't buy something unless I can see it first. I was looking at the computers and opted for an HP laptop at first because it was the most affordable and I wasn't ready to drop $1000 on a computer just yet. Yemi came over and let me know the computer I selected wasn't going to be fit For my used and would likely stop working just as the other one had. From there he asked me what I was using it for and I told him to school and he asked my price range. He immediately started searching high and low for me for the perfect computer at a reasonable price. He really did go above and beyond to make sure that I would be successful With my laptop. I end up walking out the door with an amazing laptop at an affordable price, and with a smile on my face because it's not every day you encounter someone who really truly loves their job and wants to help you and it made it easier as I had my son in the store with me who is only 10 weeks old, so I try to keep shopping trip short as possible . I purchased a tv through Amazon, the seller being Best Buy. When I received the tv, the screen was cracked. I got such a good deal on Amazon Prime Day that I did not want to return that tv since it had gone up to almost double the price and that was the only option Amazon gave me. The overseas call center for Best Buy is absolutely no help, so I loaded the tv up and drove it 40 minutes to Best Buy Champaign. When I got there, i was immediately greeted and helped. The manager Tim was called over the radio and agreed to swap out tv's with me. Tim took over the entire exchange because we immediately ran into trouble. First, the 1 for 1 exchange was not an option due to me buying it from a vendor, which was not known when he agreed to swap. So, Tim called his GM and they agreed to drop the price for me down to the initial price I bought the tv for. Then the return wouldn't go through to a gift card so I could easily rebuy without using my credit card again and simultaneously would have to wait for Amazon to refund my money. Then when we tried to return and buy with my card, the system wouldn't let Tim drop the price as low as I got it for. Tim put the price as low as he could and loaded the difference on a gift card for me to use with the purchase. I left the store with a working tv and only had to pay an extra $5-10 tax. My wife even commented on how quickly I was on my way back home. TL;DR Tim worked with me despite many adversities and was able to provide me with the best possible outcome. He knew the price I received was the price I wanted to stick with and made every concessioin to satisfy the customer. Great work Tim and the other staff involved! read more

There was only one nice guy when we had to exchange an item we purchased due to the original box being dirty. The other guy we purchased from with glasses was super rude. Not a word throughout the transaction except for when we heard the total and then asked for a bag and he said "ill give it to you this time but it's 10 cents". Ill pay the 10 cents if I have to? Today, after more than 14 years in this country and the city of Champaign, we had the worst shopping experience at Best Buy due to their employees' judgment, bias, and discrimination. We went to purchase a washer and dryer and were assisted by an associate named Ceecee at the Champaign, IL location. We explained our requirements to her, including adding pedestals for both appliances and arranging for delivery and installation. She entered all the details into the system. When we were about to complete the transaction, my husband mentioned that he is a Plus member and wanted to finance the purchase over 36 months. Ceecee checked and informed us that her system showed only an 18-month option. She advised my husband to select "other options" for financing, which he did, choosing a 48-month plan. However, when he asked if this option had 0% APR, she responded that it was interest-based. My husband asked her to cancel that selection as he wanted the 0% APR option. At this point, Ceecee became visibly frustrated, left us, and called someone to cancel the transaction. Throughout the interaction, Ceecee was rude, unhelpful, and appeared frustrated from the start. We then requested to speak with the manager. The manager, Kyle, came over and asked us to recount our story multiple times, becoming increasingly frustrated. He even suggested that either the associate or my husband was having a bad day, dismissing our concerns in front of our three children. He defended Ceecee, stating she is one of their best employees. Following this experience, we decided to cancel our Plus membership with Best Buy. After 13 years of shopping at this store, we will not return, as we were treated unfairly and unkindly, with employees prioritizing their egos and biases over customer service. read more

Needing a new printer, I spent many hours this past week investigating online. For many printers, however, the information offered by manufacturers is not always unambiguous--for example, I wasn't absolutely certain whether I was REQUIRED to subscribe to an automatic ink purchase scheme or not; and I wasn't certain whether or not I would have to use an online app every time I employed certain functions of a printer (what a pain!); I THOUGHT I understood the benefits (and lack thereof) of inkjet vs. laser, but wanted expert advice from a human rather than from a blurb on an internet page. I finally decided to follow what my gut was telling me all along, i.e., to buy local. I had to wait nearly a half hour before a floor person could help me. But from then on it was a lovely experience. My helper was *Alec*. He answered EVERY question I had, thoroughly and expertly. He also (so rare!) was completely willing to give me his opinions about certain brands, specific models, based on his own experiences. I don't know how long he was with me, but it was at least 20 minutes. One of the things I love about Best Buy is that their sales people are not on commission--which means they have zero incentive to upsell customers to more expensive items, or for that matter to convince a customer to buy anything at all. I walked out of the store with a new printer that appears to be more useful than what I would have chosen based on my own online investigations; and it was about $50 less expensive. read more

My wife and I purchased a TV 10 days ago. We bought a more expensive TV since the one we originally wanted was out of stock. We were assured but Nick, our sales guy, that this one was readily available. The installation was scheduled for today. We get a call yesterday confirming the installation. BUT today we get a call saying the TV was not at the store. Even worse, I cannot get past their call center overseas to actually talk to a manager physically at the store. I know he has a twin brother the use to work here and I believe he's good also. I needed new headphones he took time to see what I needed them for. And walked me through different pairs until we agreed one the pair I chooses. I was hesitant to take my phone to Best Buy, if I had the choice I'd take it to an Apple store instead, but with COVID and a lack of GPS I had to take it to the one in Champaign that's booked back to back. What a nightmare. My phone stopped working and waited a week for my appointment. I took it in on Friday, left my broken phone with them and Geek Squad said a replacement would arrive on Monday. Monday comes, nothing. The online status from Bestbuy.com shows that the phone is still being "repaired" and hadn't been updated since Friday. I tried calling the store and no one picked up. On Tuesday I tried to reach online chat multiple times. I would either get a message that forced me to exit the chat or due to a "technical issue" I would get disconnected before reaching a live agent. Once I actually reached a live agent, he dragged me through the entire process of confirming my details before informing me that due to "a technical issue with our Application" (why did he capitalize this?) he could not check the status of my service order nor reach the store to check in. I guess not even internal staff could reach the store! Here's the zinger. I get an email a few hours after the chat ends, I go to the store ecstatic to put this all behind me... they lost my SIM card. They don't have my carrier - and the attitude was that one of the employees couldn't care less. I was dismissively told that I'd have to go to the mall. I asked twice if they're sure they lost my SIM card, no one went to check in the back or anything else, just told me nope. Lost. Gone. No apology at all from any of the employees... Never in my life have I had such an unprofessional and unpleasant experience. Disgusting. UPDATE: Called to speak with management about SIM card. Turns out it was still in my old phone under their possession, but my new SIM card is already on the way. read more

Wow. Saw the negative reviews, so I'll note first that I haven't used Geek Squad much. So I can't say much about it ... but my limited interactions with Geek Squad / service (via Total Tech) have been very good. And my experiences elsewhere in the store have been great. We've bought a lot of appliances (hence the total tech membership), and these appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, frig) have all had installation and removal of old items, and the purchase / install experiences have all been great ... which is saying something. Total tech, which isn't cheap, has so far proven to be well worth it for us in terms of installation, over-phone help, and extended warranties, which distinguishes best buy from some other stores where warranties and service are sub-par. We've also bought rather a lot of electronics including a couple mac laptops, apple watch, TV, Denon receiver, speakers etc - all good. We've also bought quite a few phones, apple and android, through them and the experience has been good and seems even better lately (thx Zach) with the purchase / warranty / cellular plan stuff. Really, pretty much every salesperson in the store has been great, and while we've had plenty of "can I help you?" comments, they'll leave you alone if you just wanna look, which is always my preference .. no hovering. So count me impressed. And they used to (and still might?) match others' prices. My only problem has been getting someone's help at a little before 5 PM, so maybe there was a shift change happening. read more

I went & did some other errands---then I returned to BB & waited 15 minutes to speak to the salesman that was looking for my new chrome book & he told me they couldn't find any of them so I was leaving & I thought I ought to explain my disappointment in their service to someone so I asked for a manager & I spoke to Rob & explained my dilemma which he was very sorry for but by then I'm totally done with Best Buy which might be their name but it's really a joke on their customers. I recently bought an iPhone 11 Max and subsequently dropped and cracked the screen (even with a case protecting it). Best Buy was the only place in town that could replace the screen because the model is still new. I got a Geek Squad appointment fairly easily and had my screen repaired within an hour. For a big box store they do pretty good. It really depends on the question you have and the associate you speak with. Some of them are quite knowledgeable and some are not. my tablet died and after some research I finally had one picked out. Best Buy was running a deal on it for the same price I could get it on Amazon. I like to buy local so I went into the store. I went in, found the tablets, and sat on my Walker and waited for assistance. There was a girl at the counter about 10 feet away from me. I sat there for 30 minutes and she never looked up from her phone except when co-workers came over to show her something on their phones. I tried to get their attention a couple of times with no luck. I got on my phone and ordered the tablet, a case, and extra memory Kama from Amazon while sitting in their store. All in all their indifference cost the store just over $600 today. I usually like to buy local but this is the last time I will be going into Best Buy in Champaign. I've been here a few times to do some Christmas shopping recently and I've been incredibly happy with my experiences. Despite the craziness of the Holidays, there is always someone asking if I have any questions or need any help. It's always nice to know that help if available if you need any, other stores this time of year don't always have enough staff to offer this. With the recent purchases have come mistakes and, in turn, returns and exchanges. This aspect of shopping is kind of the story of my life, and sometimes returns and exchanges can be a nightmare. That is simply not the case with Best Buy. I brought in what I wanted to exchange and it was a no questions asked exchanged. I simply gave them my receipt, picked out the replacement product, and got everything switched over without any issue. This is truly a great place with exceptionally helpful employees. This person was rude and his conduct was uncalled for. Especially when his fellow employees walked around with their masks in the same condition. Pro tip #1: If you see a good price online, print it out and bring it into the store with you. If you don't, they will not believe you when the in-store price is higher. They will direct you to their intranet, which will list the higher price. They got sued for this a while back, but 2 years ago when I got my TV they tried it on me. Pro tip #2: On big purchases, they will wheel and deal. The sales people DO have authority to negotiate, especially if you are talking about getting a couple K worth of stuff and know what you are talking about. If you want something that they are pushing (last year's model, yet displayed prominently and/or paired with accessories), you can probably get them to knock some $ off the top of a big purchase. It helps to know what it sells for on Amazon/eBay or other retailers. It also helps to go at the end of the month. Pro tip #3: Their prices on accessories and a lot of other 'small stuff' (power strips, head phones, phone cases, chargers, etc.) are positively horrendous. There a host of bar code scanning apps that will tell you the cheapest place to buy something, and even with shipping figured in, Best Buy gets crushed by online retailers (and sometimes Wal-Mart, Target, Meijer or other big boxes). Pro tip #4: Don't fuck around with their Geek Squad. I've heard horror stories galore (though no personal experiences) and their labor rates are high. With most hardware issues, they just ship off your laptop to be fixed, whereas there are many places locally that will fix your laptop for significantly less. $200 for a Virus Removal? I went to the champaign Illinois store to buy a laptop. After a long wait finally got waited on. He had to go find the chrome book I was wanting. Finally he found it. I wrote a check and the sales person kept trying to get me to sign up for a Best buy rewards card which I didn't want. Ran my check thru the machine then had to call someone to verfiy that it was good. After 15 min I gave him all the info he needed and still waited. Then he tells me the check is no good? WTF!!!! I had way more in my bank account than was needed he was pulling BS on me cause I didn't sign up for a best buy card. I left and I will never buy anything from them again. I went to this location to get a navigation system for my car. First off their prices are at least double what you'd pay on Amazon so do your homework before coming and they will price match. an example of this is the nav unit itself. Best Buy wanted $899 and i got it online for $465 after taxes and shipping. This goes for all the parts needed to install it as well. The salespeople told me they charged higher because they have a lifetime guarantee on whatever parts you buy from them. I dont know if thats really true or not, all i know is that i saved about $700 after everything was done through buying from Amazon. The installers did a great job and had me out the door in a little less time than the 2.5 hours they said it would take so kudos to them. The unit works great so far and the guy who installed it was friendly and professional in answering my questions. This place gets a low rating because they are that much overpriced. Several months ago, I received permission to work from home. So, I hadda go get a computer. Fortunately, one of my nerd buddies was selling most of the parts from his computer since he recently upgraded, so all I needed was a box. Well, I talked him into getting the box and putting it together so, boom, I had a computer. But then, I needed a monitor. So, I came here, and got a monitor. That was cool. Finally, after several years, I have a computer at the house. Well, within a day or so, I was like "dang it, only 1 monitor" so I went back and got another. Yay, dual monitors. I measured the space, and I can exactly fit another one in there... but kridz is like, you don't need it NO BUT I WANT IT!!! Well, last week, kridz got the option to work from home too. But she's not doing vdi in, she's doing vpn. And sunday it wasn't working. She was asking me questions and I didn't know the answer, then she's like it want's me to install java... and i'm like GAH!!!! So, she goes in to do some work. When she gets back, we are trying to figure out where to go eat, and i'm like "lets go get your birthday present" Her face lights up, "where are we going?" Best Buy. So we go into the computer section and start looking through the laptops. Every other minute a blue shirt shows up asking if we need help, "no we are just looking right now". When we finally decide on a device... all the blue shirts are gone. Still gone. Still gone. When we are looking, everywhere, when we want to purchase... gone. One shows up, we say we want this one. He goes and gets it. A transaction was made. We got the insurance or whatever because she is going to be taking it to bars and stuff. So why did she get a new laptop for her birthday? I had a motherboard issue with a computer I bought (with a warranty) from Best Buy. I went to the Champaign store, and they sent my computer to their central office for repairs. It came back over a month later, yet no repairs were completed. Best buy again sent the computer to the central office. This process was repeated four times, until, after six months, Best Buy gave up and offered me a new computer. Still, I was without a laptop for six months because of these guys! read more

Hard to find a good electronics store. I went here to buy an all in one printer, scanner, etc. and a new more upgraded modem/router. Totally expecting to drop between $500 and $600. I had many questions. That's why i went to the store instead of online. I picked out a modem/router but the didn't have the brand i was looking for. then i went over to the printers. Lots of sales people but not one of them asked if I needed any assistance. I put the modem/router back and left. i remember the guys from FyxIt telling me to go to Office Depot. So that's where I went to purchase the modem/router. haven't decided on a printer. lots of choices there. read more

So I called Best Buy at their local number and asked them for a price on ATV so I could compare it to Walmart's price. The lady who answered said they were out of the 40" TV but they had several of the 50" tv's on sale for $479.00. So I walked over there from Walmart to get the TV and when I got there I found out that my call, according to the store manager Jendi, Must have been re routed to a different store. I said I was told this as i had called the local best buy number, and I would like the TV at that price . She said they could not do a price adjustment so I asked if they could sell it to me at the sale price that they had it at and give me a gift card. I had wasted my time walking over there and was told on the phone when I called the local number that the 50" TV was $479 . She refused to do anything, put on what appeared to be a fake smile, and did nothing for me. I asked for the corporate number and called it . As I was calling them I noticed the guy who was the suppossed Samsung TV expert following me around and listening to my call acting like he was sweeping even though when I first arrived they were all standing around chatting. So I left that area (he could not have been more obvious). Corporate called Jendi while I was on hold and said she would do nothing for me. I explained to corporate that this is why brick and mortar stores are going out of business. I explained I buy most of my stuff on Amazon I just needed a TV today though. I then called Target and asked if they price matched on televisions, to which they said yes. So I bought the exact same TV from target at the same price Best Buy was selling it at but best buy lost my business forever!
