They fit me in with zero notice and the vehicle was comple in 90 minutes. When I dropped the car off I clearly stated "Do whatever you have to do--go ahead and replace the tire if needed and just call me when it's ready." What could have easily been an easy $250 new tire (and I was OK with that possibility) was a $30 repair even though the tire was near the end of its service life. I appreciate that kind of honesty and will be sure to let my Lock Haven friends know. I hope I don't need to visit the shop again soon, but I know I'll have a good experience if I return.

He did not have one on stock and after realizing I was just passing thru he dispatched a driver to another city to get a replacement tire. 4 hours from start to finish was was on the way again. I was in the beginning stretch of a cross country rode trip when my car started acting funny and the check engine light had turned on. I pulled off the highway and stopped immediately at the first mechanic I could find. They ran the computer to find out that it was the catalytic converter BUT I knew enough to know that just the computer test is not a definite. They guy at the first place I stopped was super pushy (told me I had to make the decision now or they wouldn't get the part), quoted me at over 800 dollars and the other mechanics there were all talking rudely to each other and didn't seem to care about each other or their customers. I got an extremely bad vibe so I looked up a couple places and found Hillside Service center. I called them up and he eased my mind immediately! He asked if they had done a smoke test or a pressure test to make sure it was the catalytic converter and they had not. He asked me if I could make it to him and he would check all of that for me. I am so happy I trusted my gut and found Hillside Service center! It did turn out to be the catalytic converter, unfortunately, but he quoted me at a much more reasonable price and he replaced my spark plugs for free. The whole process + labor time took less than a couple hours and I was back on the road heading to California. At the time, I was scared being alone on a road trip and upset about how much this all was costing. With my nerves all over the place, I found myself crying in the parking lot while trying to figure out funds to afford the work. And I cannot express how grateful I was for the father and son at hillside service center. They made me feel as much at ease as was possible in that moment. He could probably tell I was flustered so while his son worked on the car he made an effort to to have a nice conversation with me. His overt friendliness did not go unnoticed! These two men are extremely honest, hardworking mechanics and I could tell the second he picked up the phone for me. The waiting room was clean and accommodating. The way they interact with each other and their customers shows that they put love and respect into their work and their business. I will probably never find myself in Lock Haven, PA or at Hillside again but I'm so grateful that I did that day. Thank you!!

He…read moredid explain that what was wrong he may not be able to complete the job, but he was willing to make all the calls he could and work on it to his extent. He promised that if he couldn't do the work, he would find someone who would do it and at close to his prices. After being on the phone with a few people, he told me that he could finish the work, but it would take the day. He offered me a ride home, which I took, and then called me with updates. He called me to tell me when the work was finished, and when I told him that I couldn't pick up my car until after he was closed, he had no problem with that! He told me to grab it on my way home, told me where the keys were and to pay him whenever! I went over when he was open to pay and pick up my car, to which he was so appreciative of! He's a good guy and I trust him with both mine and my wife's car!

We had previously taken my wife's car here for an inspection and felt like we were significantly overcharged, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, I will no longer be giving them any business after my experience this week. I had to have my car towed from the highway last week. They were the closest tow company and I just had it towed right to their garage, hoping that it would save me some money. Through a combination of their expensive parts distributor and the shadiness of the garage, I felt like I was being overcharged by $150-$300 (I know, big range) for a part. I called around and got pricing for that part myself and disputed the cost with the garage. They tried to pass it off on the parts distributor overcharging them, but only showed me the list price on the invoice, while intentionally hiding the net price. I spoke with the parts distributor who, while still significantly more expensive than other places, definitely did not charge them full list price. Miraculously, $150 disappeared off my bill when I spoke with the garage again and pressed further, since I knew the actual cost of the part. I ended up paying about what I "should" have (minus the still too expensive part), but if I didn't know any better I could have really been taken to the cleaners. This all felt very shady and I wouldn't feel confident recommending Dobson's to anyone.
