After needle placement, you're left to relax or sleep (bring your own audio if you want). Last ~10-15 minutes is acupressure massage, which can be painful, but always leaves me feeling better than when I came in. Occasionally, the Dr. does cupping treatment to boost circulation for a few days beyond acupuncture/acupressure. It's painful, but effective and my marks fade within a few days. He says "no pain, no gain." Dr. is adept at diagnosing muscle/joint issues usually by watching you walk in the door and just a few questions. Sometimes the injury/cause is not where you think, but the Dr. knows. My elderly mom and several of her friends also go there and also recommend this place widely. For those of us who work on computers all day, this is a great place to get some remedy for repetitive stress and too much sitting.
