"It's all too much for me to take The love that's shining…read moreall around you Everywhere, it's what you make For us to take, it's all too much" (The Beatles) OK friends, here's a serious question. In all your years of going to restaurants and food stands, have you EVER seen a customer refuse something they ordered because the portion size was too much? Well, I'll willingly put my right hand on a stack of hot fudge cans and swear to the Chocolate Chip gods that I saw such a rare curiosity yesterday at Gibson Brothers Dairy Farm. A guy in front of us ordered a large cup of ice cream, and when the window attendant handed it to him it sure looked like it was the size of a quart container. The shocked customer said, "there's no way I can eat all of this, and I hate to waste food, so can you take some of this back?" Of course, she couldn't take it back, so the guy bravely took away his ice cream, sat at a picnic table with his buddy, and gave it the old college try. Luckily, we didn't order any large portions, just a small soft serve and a small cone. Our order was the culmination of a very long study of the flavors on the menu board, because Gibby's has over 70 types of hard ice cream and over 20 flavors of soft serve. My wife's small cone of banana walnut chocolate chip was immense, and the window attendant told us they use a scoop the size of a softball! The ice cream had plenty of walnuts and chocolate chips but we thought it was light on banana flavoring. I went with a small cup of white chocolate macadamia soft serve. Both of our ice creams ran around $10. Gibson Farms has been in Worcester for 100 years and has become a local institution. There are benches and picnic tables on a deck, and more benches and tables on the lawn to the side of the stand. And how did our friend with the gargantuan cup of ice cream do? Sad to say we saw him toss half of it into a trash can after he hit his limit. So -be advised a "large" is obscenely large, but a helluva bargain for around $6.

Good ice cream for the ice cream set and (for me) the heavy set. -- Ginger: My first taste of this place was on a very hot day and it was spectacular. Gloriously melted on top but not becoming soup, so even more creamy than the natural creaminess. Really pleasant flavor in the base as well as the sweet ginger that had a kick too. Delightful for both flavor and texture. -- Coffee Oreo: Solid version, but neither as creamy as my earlier experience, nor as strong of flavor. Above average but not I-gotta-get-back-here-and-STAT like the first one. -- Peppermint: Better than my second visit, but not as good as my first. Entirely pink color with a few ripples of darker red, with flavor again above average. Easy parking and organized entry and exit paths that might seem a little overkill, but it avoids mayhem and accidents, so thumbs up for that. This place was conveniently located not too far from shopping plazas, so it made for a very good errand plus treat day. When we arrived, there was a line of about four parties and only one employee but despite that, the line moved very quick and she greeted everyone with a smile and treated everyone with kindness. There were many flavors that looked and sounded good including the chocolate chip cookie dough which was packed with more cookie and chocolate chips than I have ever seen, as well as the Nutella and strawberry cheesecake. Last minute, I went with the salted caramel with pecans because of all the caramel it was packed with, and my brother had the cookie butter. Both were very good and portions sizes were decent. The cookie butter was a vanilla base loaded with Biscoff cookie; I enjoyed the smooth, but crunchy/grainy texture. The pecans in the salted caramel did help to offset the sweetness, but also added a crunchy texture. There is ample room to sit and eat inside, and also a couple tables and chairs in the shade outside.

Our sundaes come with homemade hot fudge, whipped cream, a cherry, and your choice of topping!

I wish they'd have 2 sugar free flavors available at a time but it's usually just one.
