He text back an hour later saying sorry I gotta cancel. I usually don't write reviews, but the fact that he took two hours out of my day is unacceptable. I get it people are busy, but if you're running a business you should be more professional and take the time to reach out just like barbers would like their clients to give them ample time to maneuver around client cancellations. Time is money and that goes both ways.

Traveling for work, I sometimes wait to get a haircut until I am in a business city. One thing I…read morehave found, is most black or major cities charge about $15 for a fade. At $25, I think R Barber is a little too ambitious, especially for the zip code. In Kent, the population of single mothers and families on government assistance is probably the highest in the county, but for some reason these guys are confident their pricing is fair and reasonable. Someone told me to never hate someone for their hustle, but I think when you overcharge for services, you are setting yourself up for failure. I don't care how good a haircut is, it's only worth so much money, and unless your appointments are 100% on time and every cut you give is clean, you are opening yourself up to criticism. I think you will get a solid hair cut here, but I also think you could get the same cut elsewhere for about $7 less.

My favorite barbershop. I'm VERY picky about who I let cut my hair bc I'm EXTREMELY particular about how it is done. I'm mean down to what kind of blade is used... I know, I'm ridiculous. When we first moved out here to Washington, my amazing wife surprised me with a cut at Squire's in Seattle. She knows how much I love a properly done hot shave. I want an ACTUAL barber who can use a straight blade on the head and is competent and confident enough to do so. Of course, I was more giddy for that appointment than a late 80's Japanese schoolgirl at a New Kids On The Block concert with JTT as their date after hanging out all day with Blossom. It really is a great shop. I mean, they all look like hipsters... and they charge prices that make me wonder if something should have been happening under the hair barrier blanket too... but they give an excellent haircut!! With my wife in school, we just can't afford to maintain my hairstyle at their prices. So, in search of The Chosen One, A.K.A. my new barber. Berry's Barber Shop was recommended by nearly EVERYONE I asked. Over and over I was told to go there. So naturally, I went to some other barber on the South end of town. Lost Art or something. I sincerely hope they find the art one day, bc afterwards rushed over to Berry's to have that mess fixed. I'll never go anywhere else as long as I'm here. Billy and Berry provide a great atmosphere, with constant conversion about everything from sports to politics to family to religion. But, of course, the main thing you'll notice, are the clients. Most shops have a particular clientele. And there is nothing wrong with knowing your audience. But these men have no limit to their range of ability. Any and ALL hair types, lengths, styles. Man, woman, old, young, white, black, Asian, Latino, Hispanic, Poly. Almost makes me feel like I'm back home in Miami. Try Berry's Barber Shop. I dare you. **Side note, they are extremely military friendly here. This is a locally operated business owned by two locals who are very active in giving back to the community. So brother's, let's give them our business, yeah? read more

A few days later I went in to get a haircut & beard trim with Abdul. The cut is spot-on, clean lines, perfect length. He asked a series of question to know exactly how I wanted it cut. Most places we've gone just look at a photo we share and ask almost no questions. You can tell Abdul and his crew really care about the work they do and want customers to just get *a* cut but rather *thee* cut. The location is between Harbor Freight & Ross. Just a few doors down from TJ Max, Target and other stores. Ample parking (huge lot). Handicap parking in lot with curb cuts, first floor entry, and a double door entrance all make it very accessible. Food trucks frequently in the area too. Great location to go shopping, get errands done, and look sharp doing it. As for vibe, this place is by no mistake a modern barber shop. The place is clean, beautiful floors, ample lighting, comfortable chairs, friendly staff and no awkward experience of walking in and it feeling like you're a stranger, nope, Abdul gives you a warm greeting and makes sure your taken care of even if your a walk-in. Cuts are at or slightly below market (what you'd find elsewhere). Payment via card or cash. Beard trim included hot towel, aftershave, etc. Offered product after haircut for styling, you'll be asked for preferences product they won't just throw in whatever they happen to have. Again these folks are friendly, attentive, professional, thorough, care about the craft, and pay close attention to find out exactly how you want it cut down to the small details. I'll be going here regularly now.
