Joel has been cutting my hair for a long time, but the fact that we've known each other since the Reagan Administration is NOT the reason I keep going back; it's the good, solid cuts he (and the others) deliver. You know what I mean. The kind where you leave the shop looking neat, clean and squared away, but not like a newly shorn sheep. Joel is also great at fixing bad cuts obtained elsewhere. My job has me on the road a fair bit and I often have to get a haircut somewhere unfamiliar. Sometimes they're fine but more often than you'd expect, they're not. Then I come home and Joel puts things right. The shop atmosphere is laid back and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. They take reservations to keep the number of people in the shop to a minimum as we work our way out of the COVID crazy. I brought my 4 year old in for a much needed haircut on a Saturday morning. There were two people working, so things moved pretty quickly. They were so kind and patient with my son who got a bit nervous halfway through. I really liked the shop because it was clean too! It's easy to miss when driving past, but it's right on the corner in the light house looking building. There's also free parking behind it. Took me a little while to find my local barber shop, but I eventually found Razor's Edge and have been going here for I think five years now. My usual barber moved away recently (miss her but wish her the best!), but thankfully Joel (the owner) is also fantastic. I love the welcoming atmosphere and how it feels like this shop and its staff are really part of the local community. The clippers with the vacuum attachment or whatever is also much appreciated as I don't leave feeling like I'm covered with tiny, prickly hair shards! I really like this place! Real barbers are hard to come by, and here there be REAL barbers, friend. And by "real" I mean you can get a straight razor and warm lather shave here, hot towels and all, old school. I'm sorry, but if you can't do that for a customer, you are a "hair stylist". No shame in it, son, just don't call yourself a barber. Some sniffly geek might push their thick, taped glasses back up their little pointy nose, clear their throat and attempt to school me, saying, "Well, if it's authenticity we're after, then they'd better be able to do surgery, amputations, bullet extractions, lancing boils, bleeding people to treat fevers blah blah blah..." Look pup, that was two centuries ago, and it ain't legal these days, so put a sock in it... But yes. Barbers have a long and storied history, and I recommend reading up. So back to the biz: They do good, intuitive haircuts here. Their equipment is good, the technique is solid, and they are friendly, clean, chatty and careful. Did I mention reasonably priced? That too! And guys: there is a bar downstairs! So, you can tell the wife you're going to get a a haircut and then have a beer before hand, or after, or both, and no'ne's the wiser (depending on the wife). Make a day of it! Bring a pal. Bring the wife...nah, bring the pal. He can get a haircut too, and then "getting a haircut" can become legit code for grabbing a little guy time and a pint... Great place. I got a cut by the owner, and he definitely took the time to make sure he knew what I want. He did a great job. This is the first place I've found that has awesome service and a decent price. The barbers are decent conversationalists, if a little soft-spoken. They have great stories and want to hear yours too. It's been a while since I've gone to a place where there was just a mass of masculine conversation going on. Pretty refreshing to get it. Also, they have actual straight razors there. Not the kind that look like straight razors but actually use a separate razor. These things are fully bladed. That's something I was pleasantly surprised to see. All the prices are way more reasonable than anywhere I've been in Seattle, and anywhere else for that matter. $16 for a cut, $8 for a shampoo, but $6 if you get the shampoo with the cut. A full shave is $10! A full shave anywhere else I've seen is at least $25. I haven't tried that yet, but I think I might. Be aware that this place deals only in cash. You'll have to run across the street to the bank, to use their ATM. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. What keeps this place from 5 stars? Frivolities; there are none. I like music playing, not blaring, but playing. I'd like a rinse out and a blow dry after the haircut, that's definitely an extra mile thing. The best barber shop in western Washington hands down. I got my hair cut, mustache and goatee trimmed, and a shave with heated shaving cream and a straight edge razor. All for $22. So I've been here a few times now and I officially will not be returning. There are two guys who cut hair here and the first few times I got my hair cut by the same one. The last time I was there he was on lunch so I settled for the other guy. He totally screwed up my hair. My hair has been lined up perfectly for a year, all he had to do was follow what was already staged and he blew it. Got here right at closing, but Jack still offered to give my brother a haircut which I'm so thankful for as I wanted to get him something done before I leave the state. I showed him a picture of a certain style and he worked on it catering to my brothers age as well. The cut took about 30 minutes and he took care of my brother and didn't rush although it was again, past closing! Jack knows what he is doing and did a great job. Another Yelp success! I needed a new barbershop so turned to Yelp for advice. I chose Razor's Edge and discovered it to be just what I was looking for. Joel was busy cutting and shaving a groom and his groomsmen for a wedding so I ended up sitting in Annies chair. She took the time to ask exactly what I wanted and then checked in throughout the cut if she needed clarification. The atmosphere was friendly, Annie and Joel were working hard but also taking time to deal personally with their clients, the haircut was just what I wanted and at $16 it's a bargain. This place is GREAT!! I took my son here the other day for his first real hair cut, he's had long hair since birth and we've been trimming it down shorter and shorter for the last 2 years ... I often visit Razor's Edge when it isn't super busy in there. They do a great job on my hair and beard trim. I usually spend $30 each time, including tips, for the hair cut, beard trim, straight and edge razor shave. I have not seen this before but their clippers have a vacuum tube on the end to keep the hair from falling on you or the floor. It's not that loud either. If you are looking for a traditional barber shop, check them out, but bring cash as that's all they accept (there is a Chase bank across the street, with a BoA, Wells Fargo and Key Bank nearby as well). They were very accommodating - I came in with a few ideas about what I wanted in terms of a haircut (I brought a picture of what I wanted) and a beard trim (I just had some vague ideas there; my beard was 4 months old and pretty scraggly), and they worked with me to get the look that I wanted. This is best hair cut experience I have had in my entire life. I came in to have my hair styled and to have my beard shaped. The women who cut my hair was incredibly knowledgeable. She listened to what I was requesting and explained what she was doing as she worked through the process of getting me to what I wanted. Additionally she offered suggestions along the way to make both my hair style and my beard style better fit my face structure. What I ended up with was not only the hair style I requested but it was cut in a way that it completly fits me. She followed it up with an explanation of how to maintain it in daily care.
