They were super quiet in the mid-afternoon when I stopped by. The establishment was clean and although I don't know if I'd say it had a particularly established "vibe," it was a nice space. I was greeted quickly by a friendly employee. Their large menu is posted on the wall and they had a lot of selections. In addition to coffee, they have smoothies, lemonade, and energy drink refreshers, as well as some small bites like cake pops and bagels. The employee was quick to offer assistance and gave recommendations based on the things I said I liked. I wound up ordering a "Dude Brew" latte, which is a white mocha with peanut butter and caramel flavors. I really like peanut butter mochas and don't see them at shops that often, so I was excited to try this one. It was prepared for me quickly and the drink was quite pretty when it came out. It was also, I thought, quite generous in size in relation to the price. Overall, I liked the drink. It had a discernible and enjoyable peanut butter flavor and the white mocha didn't taste artificial (definitely something I've struggled with at other shops I've tried lately). Personally, I didn't detect any caramel flavor and I thought it was a little heavy on the milk, but I definitely liked the drink and would probably order it again. There are lots of items to try here and I had a positive experience. Thanks, Local Grind!

Also pleased with the selection for breakfast: croissant or biscuit sandwiches, donuts, pigs in a blanket... I wanted a big breakfast so I chose two of the pigs in a blanket made with full size sausage dogs. Then I also couldn't pass up the face-sized cinnamon roll for just a $1.50 which I planned to save for later. Sausage dogs were very good and filling. Croissant roll tasted freshly baked. Believe it or not I actually saved the giant cinnamon roll for my next morning's breakfast. It was still very good but tasted more like a donut than a cinnamon roll dough. Reviews from friends on the donuts have also been all thumbs up!

The Falkville downtown is very small and quaint but cute. There's street parking right in front of the shop and I nabbed a spot. I walked into a really adorable environment - it felt super homey and several people were at work on laptops or chatting. They also had a few selections of local crafts and gifts, which I enjoyed checking out. They have small bites and cafe type breakfast and lunch items (eg paninis, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, muffins, etc) and an extensive hot and iced drink menu. They did have some Valentine's Day styled seasonal specialty lattes advertised, but I didn't really like the sound/flavor combinations of any of them. Instead, I was able to build my own latte with flavor add-ins, which is nice. I ordered an iced latte with dark chocolate and maybe cinnamon? It's been a while since my visit but I seem to recall cinnamon. The service was adequate; my drink was ready in a timely fashion and the barista checked to see if I wanted an alternative milk. However, I didn't get the most friendly vibe and when I asked about the specialty drinks (e.g., which one is your favorite?) the answer was pretty flat and noncommittal. Idk, just a slightly weird vibe. Nothing crazy unpleasant, I just didn't feel very welcome, I guess. No biggie, I wanted to start the drive home anyway. I enjoyed my drink. It was nicely balanced and I could definitely taste the dark chocolate. And, unless I'm hallucinating this memory/flavor add-in, the cinnamon gave it a nice kick. It was a pleasant pick-me-up on the ride home. If you're in the area, I'd recommend stopping by for a tasty drink and some fun decor/gift shopping.

There's a seating area and it appears from their menu they offer some cafe style lunches in addition to baked goods. We came near to closing and so the selection was somewhat picked-over. The person working there was apologetic and offered her suggestions as to what to try of what remained. I wound up going home with a slice of chocolate cake and a chocolate chip cookie (the latter per the worker's recommendation). They did also have some other treats such as no-bake cookies and some other confections. The employee was friendly and the space was clean. She took care in retrieving and packaging the cookie I ordered. The treats were good. The chocolate chip cookie was a standard one but enjoyable, with slightly crisp edges and a chewy center. I liked the ratio of chips to cookie. I actually liked the chocolate cake slice even better. The icing wasn't overabundant and had a pleasantly fluffy/whipped texture. The cake was moist. I wish it had been slightly more densely chocolatey, but it was definitely a good slice of cake. This is a solid local bakery with pleasant service. They're worth a try if you're in the area and craving a treat.

There was a sign out front that explained they only operated an inside sitting space during the hours of the other business; it was drive through only otherwise. This was no big deal for us! They have coffee, smoothie, and some snacks and cafe type meals like grilled cheeses. I didn't see any specialty drinks but there were a LOT of flavor add-ins. I saw an option for chocolate peanut butter which I immediately jumped on. This is a somewhat uncommon flavor -- in fact, I've only had it once at another coffee stop -- and so I was excited! Iced lattes come in three sizes; I got the smallest. The price was about what you'd expect. Service was truly lovely! Lady at the drive through had such a nice disposition and seemed very happy and kind. My drink came out quickly. However, taste-wise, it didn't really deliver for me. It had a very gritty texture that wasn't pleasant, and not much discernible peanut butter flavor. The coffee flavor itself was a little on the acidic side but terrible. Just overall not my favorite. The drink was really pretty to look at, though! Perhaps I got the wrong flavor add-in. I'd be willing to give them another try someday.
