I rented skis through the AlpinResorts website for a week of skiing in Grindelwald. My flight out of the US was cancelled and I left a day later. Not wanting to have my rental cancelled, I emailed their general email address and got a prompt reply confirming that my rental would still be good.
Upon getting to Grindelwald, the shop is located on the main street. The rental portion of the shop is located downstairs. The selection of skis was excellent, with a good selection of all-mountain and racing skis. All of them looked brand new. This is a bit unusual, as I've definitely had some well-used skis in the past. The staff member who assisted me set the skis up perfectly. He felt bad that I had pre-paid for the rental via the website and mentioned that AlpinResorts can be difficult to work with around trying to get a partial refund. I mentioned that I had travel insurance and would pursue it through that avenue, but I appreciated his concern and commentary. He had some interesting tips for where to ski in the area and mentioned that the snow wasn't all that great to start the week. He said that if I didn't like my choice, a pair of Volkl's, I was more than welcome to bring them back and swap out for something else. At the end of the week, returning skis/poles were a breeze. read more
