They also take all major credit cards, but, beware, they only take chip cards.

There were goats and cows everywhere and they even came by for pets. Then, I see a Volkswagen dealership and Rugenbrau in the middle of the countryside. I walk in to see what it is and it happens to be a brewery which I thought sounded familiar because it was a new beer I tried from the CO-OP supermarket the night before. Inside, not only did they have their brewed beer, but they making everything from whiskey to gin and wine and champagne, they make it all. GET THE BEER TASTING and if you can take more, try the SPIRITS TASTING as well. It was an amazing tasting experience. There was 1 server and she could understand English if you talk slowly and clearly. The beers are all made from maize or corn because that is prevalent in the area, you won't find much wheat beer etc. Not only was the beer and spirits tasting pack with amazing flavor, but the price was to die for. I ended up buying a small bottle of their gin and whiskey because it tasted so great. THEY USE GLACIER WATER from the mountains to make all their products which is cool also. They also do brewery tours at 4PM and they open up their cafe/restaurant during the brewery tours. We came early because we didn't even know about this brewery haha. They gladly gave us personal tasting menus, but we were too early for the brewery tour. When I paid for everything, the lady gave me a free keychain and landyard!

It's a small shop just a stone's throw from the Höhematte (the park in the center of Interlaken where paragliders land). Our group of four learned about chocolate making, sampled different chocolate ingredients and varieties, and then made our own custom chocolate bars, and we had a great time doing it. The workshop lasted about an hour, and the chocolate we made was ready for pickup, packaged in plastic sleeves and nicely bagged, ninety minutes later. Our workshop leader spoke fluent English and German (he was an American ex-pat studying in Switzerland) and the chocolate bars we made were sizable and became great souvenirs.

We travel a lot and we're from Colorado where craft beer and pubs are plentiful, and we can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the beer, the food, and the service at The Barrel. This is one of our favorite little haunts on earth! We so enjoyed our servers Winona, Gabriel, and Sandy and Brad the owners. There was always great craft beers on tap and every morsel of food was exceptional. The selection of beers to buy and takeaway is excellent as well. If you're a dessert connoisseur, make sure to ask what Sandy has whipped up--we had a lemon tarte, apple strudel, and snicker brownie that we still drool over when we talk about our time at The Barrel :D
