It's no Penn Station but I like the old building and there's a bathroom open weekdays until 7 (this "luxury" is certainly helpful for NJ Transit tourism).
The location at the edge of wilderness felt cinematic for my staycation day, a proverbial fork in the road. I could safely return east at 5:07, hang around until 8:26 or catch one of the more abundant westbound trains after 6. When I saw two locals walking to a destination unknown with a fishing pole, that made up my mind against.
My transit appreciation later that day declined, given the terrible communication about the weather shutdowns that had me wondering if I'd be overnighting in Peapack NJ. But I enjoyed the Bernardsville segment of the trip and the station that outclasses the unadorned whistle stops found elsewhere. read more
