There's little not to like about this quaint, old-timey, suburban train station bordered on one side by a bucolic Memorial Park, featuring soccer fields, tennis courts and a top-notch playground, and on the other side by the town's downtown center, complete with restaurants, coffee spots, a supermarket and a movie theater, among other offerings for business or pleasure. The subterranean walkway, decorated with artwork sponsored by local businesses is a treat, although the infrastructure itself is a bit crumbly (and leaky when it rains). Otherwise, it's a pleasant way to start and end your commute.

Maplewood Station is a relatively pleasant place to commute in and out of. As other reviews have mentioned, it's definitely a quaint, charming little building. The inside has a coffee shop which many commuters frequent, and there is an indoor area to wait for the train and purchase tickets. I've found the transit workers here to be helpful. The most confusing part about this station is the numbering of the train tracks. Contrary to the assumption that numbers should go in order, the tracks here start with #2 (closest to the station, on the cafe side) and then the next track is #1 followed by #3 and #4. When I first started commuting, I felt like I was playing frogger to find where I needed to be. With that said, most of the people who use this station are polite and friendly enough to ask, so they helped advise me where to go. They seem to know the tracks by heart. If you don't feel like chatting, need a little help or are shy to ask, try downloading the official NJ Transit app and/or the OnTimeNJTransit app. The OnTime app is always current and even tells you track/when the train is boarding.

The lobby itself is nice and fairly spacious but In more recent years it has become a safe haven for the homeless prompting the lobby to locked up after midnight. The warmth of the lobby is always welcome but there are back steps to access the platforms from the outside and even an elevator. The lobby windows hours are narrow being only 6am to 1pm so if you a special kind of ticket such as a bus pass you have to make it there during this time. It isn't open on weekends so if you work a regular job how are you supposed to get a ticket of this type? I know this is more of an NJ Transit issue but i think they should be more accomodating. Overall though its one of the better stations on this line and pretty well, kept up.

It's way better than playing "find the $60 parking spot" in Manhattan. Tickets are easy: NJ Transit app, the clerk, or the machine (which saves you from the conductor's fee). Covered benches included at no extra charge. :) Sometimes I'll ride the train in and bus it back from Port Authority, depending on where I land. Kids under 12 ride cheap (under 4 is free), and if the city isn't your vibe, the train's perfect for town-hopping without the parking drama. This station's safe and reliable, plus there's a little store right there for coffee, snacks, or even a lottery ticket. It's not fancy, but it's convenient and that's the point. NOTES/TIPS: **If you're ubering or lyfting, put in "Millburn On The Go" (the store noted above by the stairs to the NYC-bound side). If you type "Millburn Station," you'll end up on the wrong side of the tracks. Literally. **Free parking on the west bound side after 6pm and all day on weekends. No parking 2-6am.

They have more single day ($10) parking spots now, accommodating the new reality of hybrid work, but still plenty of annual passholder parking spots. There are many lots, they may want to simplify it going forward. Nice space upstairs is an inside place to sit in bad weather with the ticket counter, an under track walkway to cross (does pool with water during rain), and lots of trains courtesy of being close to Summit and a few near express trains through to the city in less than 40 min to Penn Station.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I had to book a round trip from central NJ to Newark airport and forgot…read morethe name of the car service we used previously. My wife was at work, so I couldn't ask her to remind me. I called MetroPark on April 3rd for a pickup on April 4th and spoke to 'Sid'. He seemed like a nice enough guy although he couldn't seem to either hear or understand what I was saying part of the time. He told me what the price would be for the pickup at our home and for the return trip, I gave him my credit card info and email and he said I would be receiving an email or text confirmation. By the morning of April 4th, I had still not received any confirmation but what I did receive was an almost $400 charge on my card from them. The agreed upon price I got on the phone was $120 each way. I called the main number back at 8:10 am on April 4th, got a different person, told them I had not received confirmation and asked why I was charged so much extra. He was rude and condescending, said it was sent and that I should check my spam email (which I had already done prior to calling), told me the extra fees were for gratuities and other expenses and added that I shouldn't book them if I can't afford it. Keep in mind that this comment comes from a semi-literate working at a taxi stand. Needless to say, I emphatically told him to cancel the service and hoped this would be the end of it. I then called my bank to give them the heads up about these charges as I would be out of the country for over a week. They explained that the charges were still pending, but I at least wanted it to be on record that I contacted them immediately. As I write this on April 13th, the charges were still on my card, so I filed a fraud complaint with my bank and the charges will be taken off. Also, we went with the car service we had previously used and they were honest, charged less, had a clean, new car and were top notch. Even our driver was a pleasure. To summarize, it is much easier to be an honest company who treats their clients with respect and good service than a vampiric parasite who tries to cheat honest people out of their money. You are only hurting yourselves in the long run through loss of business and reputation. MetroPark, are a few extra ill-gotten bucks really worth it?

He said he was at a party, no problem. Never did he tell me I was being charged from the original time. I believed that because I gave over 2.5 hours notice, I wouldn't be charged. I paid $193 for the trip from Metropark to Rumson. They billed me an extra $180 the next day. When I questioned Sid, he was extremely rude. He sent an email threatening to sue me if I write a bad review.
