As non-Czech speaking tourists staying a little outside the city center we were a little worried about finding a friendly place to eat near our Air BNB. Luckily our accommodation said there were a few authentic places nearby and when I translated the Yelp reviews this place stuck out for every reason: service, authentic cuisine, alcohol selection and a few vegetarian-friendly offerings. First off, they have 5 differing gravities of authentic Bernard beer on tap with a larger bottled offering as well as authentic aperitifs and digestifs. There is a strict non-smoking section separated by the foyer rather than a line in the sand like other places. We knew going in there wasn't an English menu by visiting the website but with the help of submitting photos to google translate (download Czech to be available offline while on wifi) and the friendly staff, we ordered some delicious vegetarian-friendly appetizers and entrees. My wife had the chocolate cake for dessert and stated it was the best she ever had (I consider her a cake expert) and I asked the waitress for a traditional Czech digestif and she brought me Becherovka, which was an herbal bitter tasting of anise, cinnamon and ginger. It was wonderful. This was all for the price of 590 Czech koruna, which was very cheap for what we got and probably due to the fact that it was a bit out of town. We'll probably go back just for drinks and chocolate cake before heading back stateside. read more
