Here's the thing: I don't eat steak, pork, or most of the meats they specialize in, and I'm not a big fan of buffet or all‑you‑can‑eat restaurants in general. We came here because a coworker invited us, and she was being really kind, so I didn't think to check the price beforehand. I ended up only eating the salad, and with dessert my total came to about $66. For someone who doesn't eat the main attraction, that price felt a bit high -- honestly, I felt a little ripped off, LOL. Not the restaurant's fault at all; this is exactly how churrascarias work. It just wasn't the best match for my eating habits. Next time, I'll politely turn down the invite or suggest a different spot that fits my preferences better. But if you do enjoy steakhouse-style dining and want the full Brazilian churrasco experience, Barbacoa delivers exactly what it promises.

I love several other Churrasacarias in São Paulo, but this one is a real standout. We had a group dinner with friends and coworkers, and we were led to a large table, and the staff fawned all over us. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food and wine were all top-notch, and they brought whatever cut of meat you asked for, instead of waiting for the "good stuff" like the Picanha. The salad bar was great as well, although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Feijoada, which is usually a staple at any Churrascaria in Brazil. Again, there are several good Churrascarias here, but if you want the best, you won't get any better than Barbacoa!

Lots of outdoor seating make this a nice space, and the American bbq feel is fetching. As I was dining alone and not necessarily inclined to waiting for a table I just took a seat at the bar. No, not that bar, the one at the burger grill. It's toasty, so on a cool SP day it might be perfect. Today, at 31 degrees, I cooked along with the burgers, but only broke a little sweat. It's also nice to watch the cook load the grill will wood and move the meat. I took the waitress's recommendations (with my growing Portuguese), and ordered a Madalena and queijo chimchurri burger. The delicious French fries came first with a delicious herb-laced mayonnaise (but do NOT miss the "Ketchup Rústico"!). As I was quite hungry I thought I might finish them. Nope. The burger was thick, meaty, juicy, and very red (something tells me this is standard in Brazil, so if you want it done, better say so). It was decent but I expected a bit more flavor, but I took a pretty basic choice, so next time I'll get a bit more adventurous (bacon, spiced cheddar, jalapeños, etc). I'll definitely come back with friends, but as an infrequent red meat eater, I can't make this a usual stop. That being said, the meal was (very) satisfying and fulfilled the hamburger longing I'd been suffering for several days.

They seem to take care of every single detail to prepare the perfect cocktail. From the ice craving, the glasses to the quality of the liquors, everything is perfect. The price is a lit bit expensive, but it[s something you can afford every once in a while. The service is very good, and be prepared to wait depending on the time you arrive.

We decided to sit at the bar so we could watch the masters at work, bartenders who are obviously very proud of their craft. For me, it was a Boulevardier - think Negroni, but subtract the gin and add bourbon in its place. The drink was beautiful, with a hand-shaved ice cube that looked like a glimmering gem surrounded by what was easily the best cocktail I've had in years. (For those of you who follow me, you know that's high praise!) One of my friends opted for the Gin Cocktail, what the drink menu calls a "high-strength stirred drink": Umburana gin, Grand Marnier, ginger, and Rangpur lime bitters. I took a sip and can vouch for this being a high-octane drink, a quite delicious one at that. For many of the drinks, the original source of the recipe is cited. The Gin Cocktail comes from "Cooling Cups and Dainty Drinks", published in 1869 - a nice touch of history that takes one back in time while enjoying their cocktail, right down to the quintessentially British instruction to the bartender: "The recipe of Terrington demands a table spoon of bitters". How imperial! The bartenders were great, answering all of our questions about the array of items displayed on the bar, from the little misters used to give a finishing touch to cocktails to the array of botanicals and garnishes in the Mason jars on the bar. Frank Bar should be on everyone's list when they visit São Paulo, whether it's for a pre-dinner cocktail or for a nice way to end an evening out with friends. Muito obrigado ao bartênderes!

Gogigui (barbecue in Korean) in is he main item in the menu, with different options (beef, chicken, pork, duck) for sharing, but other dishes are also available. We were in a group of 4 and none of us were in mood of having the barbecue. Moreover, we had a member trying Korean food for the very first time and another one who wasn't much into spicy food. Taking everything into consideration, we ordered 2 bowls of bibimbap and kimchi jjigae (stew with kimchi, tofu and pork). While waiting for the dishes to come, we were offered banchan (side dishes) which was okay. A portable stove was placed on the table for preparing the kimchi jjigae and all dishes were brought at once. Flavor-wise, everything was very tasty, but spiciness was an issue for the ones that were not really familiar to Korean food. But fortunately bibimbap was served with gochujang separately, so we managed to make and edible bibimbap for everyone's standards. In the end we realized that 1 bowl could be enough for the 4 of us. One curious thing happened while we were having our meal: a family with a child seated in a high chair had ordered the barbecue. We heard a scream all of sudden. The girl had put the hands over the hot grill! So one important piece of advice: make sure you keep an eye on children if you come here with your family.

If one is selling BBQ in Brazil, you have to be original as the local standard, which is Brazillian BBQ (churrascaria) is pretty high. I was with my friend, a compatriot that has been living in Brazil for 50 years, He was not impressed either. If you receive good treatment from the restaurant owner, good on you.
