An incredible cocktail bar, one that evokes an age where classic cocktails were king: an intimate bar, the red banquettes, and the piano with a light jazz accompaniment in the background, setting the stage for a perfect night-cap. We decided to sit at the bar so we could watch the masters at work, bartenders who are obviously very proud of their craft. For me, it was a Boulevardier - think Negroni, but subtract the gin and add bourbon in its place. The drink was beautiful, with a hand-shaved ice cube that looked like a glimmering gem surrounded by what was easily the best cocktail I've had in years. (For those of you who follow me, you know that's high praise!) One of my friends opted for the Gin Cocktail, what the drink menu calls a "high-strength stirred drink": Umburana gin, Grand Marnier, ginger, and Rangpur lime bitters. I took a sip and can vouch for this being a high-octane drink, a quite delicious one at that. For many of the drinks, the original source of the recipe is cited. The Gin Cocktail comes from "Cooling Cups and Dainty Drinks", published in 1869 - a nice touch of history that takes one back in time while enjoying their cocktail, right down to the quintessentially British instruction to the bartender: "The recipe of Terrington demands a table spoon of bitters". How imperial! The bartenders were great, answering all of our questions about the array of items displayed on the bar, from the little misters used to give a finishing touch to cocktails to the array of botanicals and garnishes in the Mason jars on the bar. Frank Bar should be on everyone's list when they visit São Paulo, whether it's for a pre-dinner cocktail or for a nice way to end an evening out with friends. I'm not afraid to say that this is the best cocktail bar of São Paulo. The job Spencer Jr. and his crew do is remarkable. They seem to take care of every single detail to prepare the perfect cocktail. From the ice craving, the glasses to the quality of the liquors, everything is perfect. Had different cocktails here, so I won't tell details about every single one. But be sure that you will have a great time The environment is classic, with a piano on the outside, and dark and cozy environment inside. The bar is located on the Maksoud's Plaza lobby. The price is a lit bit expensive, but it[s something you can afford every once in a while. The service is very good, and be prepared to wait depending on the time you arrive. read more

Love the drinks and principally the Moscow mule. All the experience is cool there. The ambience, the service, the drinks. If you want to have a nice drink just get there! One con is that the food menu is nearly poor and they don't offer a variety of snacks and who is vegetarian or vegan do not get much. read more

Ok...so there are a lot of reviews about Frank and there is no doubt this is simply the best cocktail bar in town...watching the bar experts at work and going through those complex procedures with great ease just is spellbinding. Getting done with that, let me review their food menu - yes that tiny food menu with around 9 options and let me tell you that if the drinks are the star of the show the food certainly is no slouch at all. The menu signed by the creativity of one of Sao Paulo's best burger joints, Meats, is a hidden gem among the cocktail stars of the bar. The 'bolinho com barriga de porco" is a perfect way to get a taste of what's to come...and to top it the sliders (not really mini-burgers) are mouthwatering and made to perfection. The 'falafel burger' simply is a redefinition of how yummy veggie burgers can be. I am a fan of the cocktails at Frank, now with a taste of this awesome food menu, I don't think I am going to be looking at other places to drink AND eat !! read more

It's hard to give 3, start to a place that almost everybody has rated 5. Yet, progressing from self-doubt, and not knowing the local palate very well, I have to first say that I agree with theatrics of cocktails, extensive ingredients list etc but the cocktail that the bar tender recommended turned out to be a dud. Nothing exciting in there. Then I ordered a slider that was so salty, I wonder how anybody would ever eat it. I had to wipe out most of the ingredients and just eat the one sided bun. So maybe I was a little harsh last time and maybe a little drunk too when I gave Frank 3 stars after waiting three hours for a drink. Returning twice, one a quieter night and another on a semi busy night, has given me some time to think about much work and effort go into each drink. From the cut, chilled cocktail classes, the pellucid ice, the types of alcohol available, all create a perfect night. Spencer and his time are pretty much able to make you any cocktail you desire, providing they have the specific alcohol (seriously no rye whiskey anywhere in Brasil??). Nonetheless, their knowledge is outstanding and will easily offer a substitute for your drink. Sit at the bar and strike up a conversation with one of the bar tenders and they'll happily hear your sob stories or ramble along about alcohol all night. read more

We had a ball in this place. Their cocktails are mind blowing...try the soulless gentleman. Nice jazz ensemble playing until 01am in this nice hotel! Food is also good despite a bit pricey. read more
