After years of feeling constrained and discouraged by veterinary experiences that often left me…read morequestioning whether my pets' best interests were truly the priority, finding Dr. Robb has been life-changing. I first heard about Dr. Robb because of the extraordinary advocacy he has done for animals, advocacy unlike anything I have ever seen or heard from any other veterinarian. That alone spoke volumes about his character and dedication, but meeting him in person confirmed everything I had hoped for. From the moment I met Dr. Robb, he was a breath of fresh air. He provides compassionate, thoughtful, and genuinely accessible care. Most importantly, he respects both the animals and their owners, never forcing unnecessary treatments or making me feel pressured into decisions. Instead, he listens, guides, and empowers you to make the best choices for your pets. His staff reflects that same level of excellence. The front desk team is consistently kind, attentive, and welcoming. In a world where it's become normal to sit on hold for 30 minutes just to speak with someone, I was amazed that I could simply call and reach a real person who was eager to help. I live over an hour away, and distance means absolutely nothing when it comes to the quality of care my animals receive here. I would gladly drive five hours if it meant my pets could continue seeing Dr. Robb. Thank you, Dr. Robb, and thank you to your incredible team. From the bottom of my heart, I am deeply grateful for the care, compassion, and integrity you bring to both animals and the people who love them.

We just recently went away and boarded her with our 1 year old labradoodle. We communicated with them before dropping off and then at drop off that both dogs should receive the same services. Today, we went to pick them up and looked at the invoices and were very confused. Our labradoodle was kenneled the entire time when we told them that he should be participate in "day care" ie playing with other dogs. Our female beagle, on the other hand. participated in the doggy daycare services. The labradoodle is very large and active, so to find out that he was left in a cage for the entire week is devastating. When we picked him up, he looked extremely anxious and was shaking. We immediately called them back after discovering this on the invoice, and the receptionist was very dismissive and said that her manager wasn't there (at 3:30pm) to explain where the communication breakdown occurred. She kept saying it was our fault, although we told them on three different occasions that the dogs should be receiving the same services. She said he needed to pass a "screener" for the daycare, which is fine, why didn't they do it!? We had called them at least three times as we were worried about the labradoodle while we were away because this is his first time being boarded and we wanted to be sure he is okay. We were told each time he was "doing well, going to the bathroom fine, and playing well with the other dogs." But, were then told he never played with anyone and was stuck in a kennel the entire time? Additionally, we found a charge on our invoice that they were to call us (the charge was listed 3 times) because our labradoodle wasn't moving his bowels. Although we were charged for this, we were never called, which makes me even more concerned -- there was something going on with the dog which they felt compelled to charge us for, but never communicated it to us?

I rarely write reviews but our most recent experience inspired me to do so! review of this We…read moreadopted our first ever kitty (named Lorelei) from a shelter in North Haven about 12 years ago. Soon after adoption, we took her to the nearest Vet clinic. It wasn't the greatest experience. In part because they tried to sell all kinds of tests, scans etc. It felt as though we were renting a car where the rental agency tries to scare you into buying all sorts of additional coverages. Thereafter, we moved to another clinic in Cheshire area for a couple years. While it was a good experience, somehow it felt short of our expectations. We then landed at Mt Pleasant Hospital for animals in Newtown. It has been a wonderful experience from the very beginning. More on that in a moment. In between, I moved to Sweden. It was an elaborate process of tests, vaccinations and documentation etc to be completed before we Lorelei aka Google could be on her way to her maiden air travel and that too to Sweden. Dr Vali walked us through each step and was instrumental in ensuring that we had everything we needed! He even sent us to another clinic to avoid delays because their clinic was very busy and wouldn't be able to run a test in time! Can't thank him enough for that. Three years later (2017) we returned to the US but this time to the west coast in Seattle. During all this time every now and then Dr Vali would enquire about Lorelei's welfare! That's how much he cares about his patients! About six months back, we moved back to Connecticut. Among all the uncertainties the only thing we were certain about was that Lorelei would once again get excellent care! We promptly got her back into Dr Vali's care. Back in Seattle, Lorelei was being evaluated every six months under a a "wellness plan" for which we were paying on monthly basis. When I suggested similar schedule to Dr Vali, his response was- "sure you can come in and we can have a beer"! In other words, it wasn't needed! He could have said yes but he didn't and that tells me that this hospital isn't out there to take our money!! During the time we have been away, the hospital has been beautifully renovated with expanded space in the check-in / waiting area. About two weeks ago (Dec 10th), Lorelei developed acute abdominal discomfort. Dr Vali recommended that we take her to the nearest emergency hospital (his staff helped us locate one) and follow up with him the next day. During this process, we discovered that our kitty has developed either acute or chronic kidney failure. Dr Vali took her in the very next day and came up with a short and long-term treatment plan. He explained everything to us in detail so that we understood what all was to be done and could make an informed decision! Lorelei had an overnight stay at the hospital. Her renal function has significantly improved since! Of note, the care and compassion with which the animal technician Claire handled Lorelei was exceptional! Same caring attitude was shown by Emily at the check out counter. And, Angie who helped us with scheduling, coordinating and with communication before, during and after Lorelei's stay at the hospital has been truly exceptional too! Our collective experience tells me that the entire staff at Mt Pleasant hospital is genuinely caring and compassionate which is what one would want for one's furry family members and is definitely a true sign of a great hospital!! In addition, the facility is always very clean which is important to me! We strongly recommend Mt Pleasant Hospital for animals in Newtown!

However, since that time both the veterinary office and the vet owner, Dr. Vali, have taken the time to look into the matter, treat my dog, and going a step by providing the meds for free and discounting the visit. More than I expected and more than compensating for a bad experience two weeks ago. I've been with this practice for over 30 years through multiple dogs and cats and have referred them to friends looking for a vet. I feel the remedy was more than fair and I applaud Dr. Vali for addressing this personally With me. I look forward to continued relationship for all our pets.

Mark is the primary vet I use, he's got a great personality and a sense of humor I relate to. One commentor posted that the spay and neuter was cheaper elsewhere (a.k.a. Nutmeg Spay) in my opinion you get what you pay for. (DON'T go to NUTMEG SPAY: If Nutmeg spay cannot completely a surgery in their predetermined timings, they close your animal and send them home. They did it to my cat, saying he was too fat and couldn't find his testicle. I had already paid extra because we knew one testicle was hidden. THEY ALSO KEPT MY MONEY! NUTMEG SPAY IS THE SUPERCUTS OF VETERINARY CARE!) I'll stick with Mark and Kim and the team at Oxford Veterinary, quality veterinary care is not cheap.
