DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT - ENROLL IN THE NURSING PROGRAM AT MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE…read more Less than 30-40% of students actually graduate. There is little to no real teaching, you are expected to teach yourself everything using ATI modules. When you fail and ask for help or a review, they just tell you to "read more and there is no time to review." You can read everything front to back, and the exams still feel designed in a way that makes them almost impossible to pass - with correct choices being marked as incorrect choice (despite having proof that that is what the book says). It is almost as if the exams are rigged. Even many outside adjunct professors have said it feels like students are set up to fail, possibly so the school can keep charging tuition, especially since many of the nursing credits don't transfer elsewhere. The get to simply re-bill the same people for an education that they already paid for and did not receive. They do not take accountability. When 62 out of 65 students FAIL, they blame the students instead of addressing poor teaching AND the fact that they do not provide CLINICAL EXPERIENCE. The same instructors can have failure rates of 90%+ semester after semester, and nothing changes. You are essentially paying for an education that you are not receiving. Clinical experience, which is required, is limited or nonexistent, yet they still charge full tuition. On top of that, the environment is very discouraging. Staff often speak to students in a condescending, demeaning and disrespectful way, like you are a child. Most nursing students are there because they genuinely want to help people, but that passion is not supported here. Instead, it feels like constant stress, hazing and intimidation. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. Go to a program where students are actually supported, where the graduation rate is high, and where people 90% of students pass the NCLEX. Out of a class of over 60 students, many of whom are repeating the semester, only about 2-3 are currently passing HALF of their classes. That should tell you everything. I'm sharing this to genuinely warn future students. If you're serious about becoming a nurse, choose a different program.

The most organized, professional and courteous environment for COVID vaccine…read more I had a 2:45 appointment: arrived @1:45 and at 2pm I received my vaccine. By 2:24 pm I was finished. The process is simple: Pre- visit fill out NYS COVID- 19 vaccine form and a registration form with your own personal ID is sent via email. Bring government issued ID, insurance card and a copy of the registration and vaccine form. When I arrived at the College, I first had to enter a tent like entrance and was greeted by a rep who inspected my forms. I then was asked to enter another pre- vaccine area to confirm I was actually me: name, birthday as home address. I was then asked to enter the COVID vaccination area: the College's gymnasium. I then was told to go directly to table 6 where Mitchell and Williams were awaiting me. Mitchell asked me a series of health questions and then Williams vaccinated my arm. That simple! I was given my Vaccination Card and was asked to wait 15 minutes in the waiting area to ensure the procedure went smooth. In the way out, another rep inspected my card and stated I will be back in three weeks to get my second dose. The National Guard and FEMA staff are exceptional, professional and courteous. Special shout out to Mitchell and Williams; they both were awesome. My mom received her vaccine three weeks ago from a young woman National Guard named Ellis and she too spoke highly of her and this whole process. Well done Medgar Evers!!

While attending NYSID, I interned for the notable David Anthony Easton interior design firm. Upon…read moregraduation, I worked for legendary Albert Hadley (Parish-Hadley Interiors). Those experiences wouldn't have been possible for me, were it not for my exhibited projects at NYSID. There are other exceptional interior design programs throughout the United States, while NYSID continues to be ranked among the highest, both in their accredited Undergraduate and Graduate programs. One reason, is their sole emphasis on interior design studies. Personally, NYSID also filled-in the gaps of where I lacked in education, when I attended public schools in Florida. To learn history, philosophy, art and humanities via an interior design curriculum has stayed with me to this day - a valuable foundation to any architecture and design experiences that I'm exposed to. Additionally, these essential studies help me relate with people from different cultural and demographic backgrounds - at times leading to fulfilling design projects. Attending NYSID also afforded me my first opportunities to travel abroad - St. Petersburg and London, by invitation from professors putting together design tours. Since then, I've traveled extensively where "experiencing" interior design has enriched my sensibilities and personal growth. NYSID's esteemed faculty, talented students and notable board members are a collaborative and supportive academic community, that is committed to excellence. And, the Beaux-Arts period building, itself in the tree-lined Upper East Side neighborhood is a place of inspiration and resource, that houses a well-curated design and decoration library. Today, as a successful sole practitioner in Florida, my foundation with NYSID continues to prove both practical and meaningful. To anyone considering NYSID, I'm confident they'll be thankful for the life-changing experience - academically, professionally and personally!

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. This was hands down, by far and away, the WORST…read moreexperience I've ever had with a school. Requests for help with my online account were ignored completely for months! The staff was rude, lacked follow through on basic requests for assistance, and demonstrated zero accountability across multiple departments. It was the most bizarre experience I've ever had. Not a single person I dealt with (academic advisor, registrars office, dean's assistant, AND the Dean herself) was interested in assisting with a simple request to adjust my registration start date. As a result they proceeded to enroll me in classes for the wrong semester and attempted to charge me approximately 13,000 dollars for classes I wasn't in! Every person I spoke to blamed a different department member and no one took the initiative to assist, all claiming there was nothing they could do. I ended up having to contact an attorney to get the charges removed. I will NEVER recommend this school and have never dealt with such a circus in my life. This institution sorely lacks accountability and professionalism which was extremely disappointing. There are several other AMAZING design schools out there to choose from (Savannah College of Art and Design and Pratt Institute for example), so if you'd like to focus on your passion for design and receive a quality education without the unnecessary stress and nonsense, definitely steer clear of this school.
