I have such mixed feelings about this place. Parts of my experience were fantastic, while others…read morewere underwhelming. The easiest way to explain may be a pros/cons situation. Pros: good location, beautiful views, friendly service. This is definitely the weirdest restaurant experience I've ever had in terms of service - you have to wait to be seated, but then you have to go back upstairs to order your food, bring a buzzer with you downstairs through the garden, and then when your buzzer goes off - back upstairs, gather your hot plates, and bring them to your table on your own. I feel like if you are eating on actual plates (not takeaway style dishware), and you have to wait to be seated... you should have a server. This situation seemed so weird to me. Either way, the people working here are very friendly. Cons: Food is expensive, which isn't a problem, but you are definitely paying for the view, not good food. However, even with a nice view, a $26 spaghetti with cherry tomatoes seems over the top to me. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, and we were both unimpressed with the food. It wasn't terrible, and we were hungry, so we have no regrets, but if you're coming here to chill and enjoy the view - eat before you come. For food and one drink each, my bf and I paid over $80. Bottom line: visit for a drink and a look at the view. Skip the food. Tables are nice and big, so it's a great place to meet up with friends.

The meal was replaced immediately so they really do care. For $26 they should. A pint of Asahi for $16 was a bit over the top but did taste fantastic.

Well, there was only option for vegetarians which was pasta. Everything else along with mock tail was average for the price , but I must admit their garlic bread was by far the best garlic breads I have had in my life and ended up ordering 4 servicing . I thought to give 2star but one extra star is because they are pet friendly , my little puppy scotch got puppy milk and boiled veggies on request . They have great friendly service . Ambience is great.

It may be a little expensive but we do not paying that for quality food and we always spend over $300 at the restaurant on each occasion. However, the quantity & quality of the food & service level at the restaurant has significantly decreased & this last meal there plus the previous 3 meals there have shown that this place is no longer the signature restaurant it used to be. We have been customers of this restaurant since 2012 and in the first 6 years the quality and quantity of the food was excellent. I mean we struggled to eat our way through the seafood platter. The platter was huge & I believe vallu for money for real quality food. As far as I recall, the seafood platterused to consist of: HOT TRAY: 1-2 full lobsters, 1-2 full Balmain bugs, 4 cooked king prawns, 4 oyster mornay, 4 oyster Kilpatrick, 8 baby octopus, 4 decent sized pieces of cooked fish, 4 scallops. COLD TRAY: 6 cooked prawns, 4 natural oysters, 1 full crab, nice size pieces of salmon & a good serving of a variety of fruit. Then we noticed that the quantity has slowly decreased none more than the previous meal where we had an entrée, the seafood platter for 2, dessert & 3 beers, I was satisfied but not full. The platter has definitely decreased in size & you now only get the following: HOT TRAY: only 1 full lobster, only 1 full Balmain bug, 3 cooked king prawns, 3 oyster mornay, 3 oyster Kilpatrick, 5 baby octopus, only 1 decent sized piece of cooked fish, 3 scallops. COLD TRAY: 3 cooked prawns, 3 natural oysters, 1 full crab, small size pieces of salmon & no fruit. I cannot for the life of me understand why you get an uneven amount of each item in the platter when this is for 2 people. Now the food quality has slipped and the recent meal we had at the restaurant on 29/7/2024 was atrocious & poor staff service. I made a booking online & requested a window table. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant & there was not a lot of people there as it was a Monday night & there were plenty of window seats available. We ordered our drinks & meal & I specifically requested finger bowls & additional serviettes to be provided with the meal. Anyway, when the meal arrived finger bowls were not provided & asked again for the bowls. I had almost finished pealing all the prawns & my hands were covered & finally got the attention of one of the a female watress who responded in a rude fashion like we were impatient, but in fact it was our 3rd request. The platter quality: The oyster Kilpatrick was cold, a bit dry & didn't have enough sauce, the oyster mornay was cold & didn't hardly have any sauce, the scallops were cold, the piece of fish was barely warm & didn't have any flavour, the Balmain bug was overcooked & very dry & didn't seem to have any sauce, the lobster was cold, had no sauce, was overcooked almost burnt, very dry, rubbery & stuck together. I did not eat the lobster, it was disgusting. I showed the female waitress (plump white female with dark hair and glasses) the quality of the lobster & the other items on the meal. She said sorry in apathetic apology & then started to collect the dishes from the table. Then she asked do want desert. I was very angry with her blaze response, bit my tongue, said no, got up & went straight to the register to pay. The same female waitress arrived at the register to finalise our bill. I reiterated to her about the quality of the meal & she just said sorry again & continued to finalise the bill. My wife jumped in & said so what are you going to do for us as the meal was crap. She said she could only give us the drinks off, that's all, which was $18. I was furious & said all you want to give is a lousy $18 of the meal when the lobster & Balmain bug are the main part of the meal. I begrungingly accepted the discount but stated I won't be coming back. I told her we have been customers of this restaurant for 11 years, have always have the seafood platter for 2, & have spent over $300 every time & have previously highly recommended this restaurant in reviews and by word of mouth. She didn't seem to care & appeared that just wanted finish up for the night, maybe she should be finished up permanently. I rang the restaurant the next day and made a complaint & to see what they would do. The restaurant manager provided a $50 gift voucher. I believe this is insufficient & is a cheap apology. Now, I would definitely not recommend the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant. I am sick of being screwed by businesses who do not take responsibility for their service and product & will patronise Ambrosia Seafood Restaurant at Silverdale, NSW. Ambrosia Restaurant when located at Lansvale NSW & was the best seafood restaurant I have ever patronised until the owners sold it.

Not many people can afford to pay for parking at Sydney fishmarkets or make a special trip to Pyrmont to buy fresh fish. This place brings the fish to you! When you walk through the plastic flaps and into the giant cool room, it's evident what is for sale. Fresh fish and all different kinds of seafood lines the walls, so close you could touch it. But you don't, because there are people in gumboots, gloves and hairnets waiting to pick out the produce of your choice. There are people in the back gutting fish for the shop, so if you want to buy something whole, they can fillet it for you on the spot. To get an idea of price, the most recent visit I bought salmon cutlets for about $18 per kilo. A bit cheaper than the salmon fillets at $24 per kilo. Beats supermarket prices in the salmon stakes by at least $10 and makes eating fresh fish an affordable habit. If going at Christmas or New Year time, or any other holiday period be prepared to wait in a queue outside. Then be prepared to take out a whole garbage sized bag full of seafood for your holiday celebrations. Faros Bros is always busy and at super busy times there is a ticketing system. Parking is a bit hairy, with only 6 or so spaces in front of the shop, and on street parking a little difficult. There are now more spaces on the other side of the road, but take care when looking for a park as it's in a one way street with cars crossing from one lane to the other depending on which direction they are going.

The unlucky Crustacea are my flavour of the month right now, after I discovered how easy it is to make your own Singapore chilli crab sauce, which I admit I I have been craving after since I went to Jumbo's in Singapore earlier this year. (There is a great SBS food video and recipe that's easy to search for, if it's up your alley too) Googling for seafood outlets that are on my way home from work, I found the yelp reviews straight away. Easy for me to get to when swinging home through Marrickville. It's true you wouldn't know it was a seafood shop from the outside, but the fact you can very rarely get a spot in their tiny car park is testament to the fact a lot of people shop here. Park on the opposite side of the street to avoid the frustration of squeezing in. Think of something from the great deep blue that you can munch on and they probably have it here. Oysters, all of the Oysters!. Scallops on or off shell. Cooked yabbies - make yer own crawfish pie! Thinking I might do that next time I go. Fish of all species, Prawns cooked or raw, Octopus, Squid, and the one thing I came for Mud Crab. They have 2 tubs, one for boys and one for girl mudcrabs. I'm not up on the ethics of Mudcrab choosing, so I went for the biggest one. That sucker was alive and kicking. Trussed up of course, but that's the thing about crab.. fresh is best and you have to dispatch that little beggar on your own. She cost me $19. and she was delicious. There is a ticket system to get served, but for some reason I got bumped up the queue. I dont know if there were any tickets left, but the staff were immediately helpful and attentive. Prices seem pretty good, and everything looked fresh as a daisy. I dont even remember there being that fishy fish shop smell. Faros Brothers is totally worth of my half century review. If you're a local, go and see them the next time youre in need of a seafood fix I dont think you'll be disappointed.
