Got the works burger. Filled me up. Semi-sloppy and mega-delicious. Good prices, friendly staff and primo beachy location.

Best fish & chips I've had in years. Love both the battered flathead and grilled barramundi, will definitely come back again for it.

It is definitely not a place to take your kids as it is very dangerous seating and without any barriers to the main road. Must be very careful when opening the doors of your car at the offside as the ledge is higher than the pavement and you will visit the body shop . In short if you are not craving for fish and chips go elsewhere

Got really hungry after a big day walking around the coast. When you wonder around next to the sea,…read moreyou starting to crave for some "Fish & Chips"! I hop onto Google since Yelp did not have much, the first one that came through was the "Legendary Fish & Chips". Yelp did not said much on this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. The place is very casual. The restaurant has a peculiar set up. Half of it is a convenient store while the other half is the kitchen. The dining experience is not fancy. Select your combo, pay for it, wait for it to be ready, take away and dine it anywhere. Outside the store, outdoor parasol and benches are provided! To be honest, as long as the food taste great at a reasonable price; it does not need music and high class decor! The menu varies a little according to the fishing market. So do expect small fluctuations in the menu. I recommend carrying cash to avoid using EFPOS / Credit Card. Card payment attracts a 1.6% surcharge as to date. Onto the menu, there are a bunch of combos you can choose. They offer burgers as well, but why would you? The fish & chips are freshly made in front (which requires a short wait). Staffs is very nice. The restaurant cook also allows you to select a wide range of fish which you can have as your main. I do not have anything positive to say about the chips... The chip is boring... But the fish is the real gold. I have eaten Fish & Chips at some fine restaurant which costed more and taste like sand paper... But not this one! The fish does really stands up to the "legendary" title. It is smooth & buttery on the inside and crispy on the outside. I wish I had second piece of fish for another $7.00... Will definitely visit again when nearby! Hint: The shop is located exactly on the highway. You can only get to it when you driving from South to North bound. There is a street right after the shop for street parking. Be sure not to miss the turn!

The seagulls are annoying as they do come near you if the food is not surrounded by people. Otherwise they are just there, watching... There are two sections - cold seafood and the fried seafood. You get to choose how you want your fish to be done - battered, crumbed or grilled. Besides chips, there are also some salad sides that can be ordered. I had the crumbed fish (almost like the Japanese panko coating which did not overwhelm the fish) which was freshly fried and good. My friend had the grilled barramundi which was equally good and fresh. We also had the salt and pepper squid (calamari) with chips which were so-so as it was salty to me. From the cold seafood section, we bought 1/2KG of cooked prawns which were huge and sweet. A bit too salty at times as they were pre-seasoned with salt. What's with all the salt in Australia? The raw oysters (pre-shucked and shrink-wrapped in a tray) were gorgeously delicious. Super fresh with no fishy smell or taste to it. And the price was good too. About $11 for a dozen regular size rock oysters. How could you say no to that? Most people order the food for take away but you can dine outside on the patio. Just remember to clean up after yourself so that the seagulls do not get to the waste. The bins are right there. Bring your own sauces if you do not wish to purchase there. Also your wet wipes to clean your hands. There are no washroom on the premise but there is one at the end of the parking lot where the sailing club building is. Parking is easy. Just relax and enjoy the food and view while you dine on fresh seafood. This is definitely a go-to place if you are in the Gong area.

I have such mixed feelings about this place. Parts of my experience were fantastic, while others…read morewere underwhelming. The easiest way to explain may be a pros/cons situation. Pros: good location, beautiful views, friendly service. This is definitely the weirdest restaurant experience I've ever had in terms of service - you have to wait to be seated, but then you have to go back upstairs to order your food, bring a buzzer with you downstairs through the garden, and then when your buzzer goes off - back upstairs, gather your hot plates, and bring them to your table on your own. I feel like if you are eating on actual plates (not takeaway style dishware), and you have to wait to be seated... you should have a server. This situation seemed so weird to me. Either way, the people working here are very friendly. Cons: Food is expensive, which isn't a problem, but you are definitely paying for the view, not good food. However, even with a nice view, a $26 spaghetti with cherry tomatoes seems over the top to me. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, and we were both unimpressed with the food. It wasn't terrible, and we were hungry, so we have no regrets, but if you're coming here to chill and enjoy the view - eat before you come. For food and one drink each, my bf and I paid over $80. Bottom line: visit for a drink and a look at the view. Skip the food. Tables are nice and big, so it's a great place to meet up with friends.

The meal was replaced immediately so they really do care. For $26 they should. A pint of Asahi for $16 was a bit over the top but did taste fantastic.
