While doing unrelated work behind a bathroom wall adjacent to the garage where the furnace is located, I discovered that the return plenum had several unsealed seams and an open connection into a wall cavity. This area was supposed to be "cleaned and sealed" per the contract but was left incomplete. When I contacted Ron with photos, he said the section wasn't accessible during installation and noted that the job had passed HERS testing. At his request, I measured the opening, but after providing the dimensions, he replied that it still wasn't large enough for his "smallest guy" to enter, without offering any alternative solution or to come out and inspect the issue. Even if full access was limited, there could have been other reasonable ways to seal off the cavity during the installation, such as adding a simple baffle or barrier. At the very least, I would have expected to be informed that the plenum couldn't be fully sealed and that there was an open gap so it could be addressed properly later. I've since sealed the area myself to prevent air from the wall cavity and attic from being drawn into the return. My goal was simply to close off obvious gaps, not to redo the entire installation, but to ensure the return cavity was properly enclosed. We spent a significant amount of money on this system (and also had the company replace my in-laws' PTAC unit), so I had hoped for more follow-through and support when this issue came up. While the system itself performs well, I am disappointed by the response and focus on passing HERS testing rather than workmanship. Given how this was handled, I'd be hesitant to use the company again for future HVAC service or maintenance.

Our AC went out at 4AM on Thursday morning during a heat wave - of course! I called and spoke with Jovie at about 10AM and she said earliest they could be here is Saturday. I said 'I'll take it!!' We laughed about living with the heat and she said she'd call if anyone happens to cancel. Lucky for us somebody did cancel and thanks to Jovie for keeping her word and calling back to reschedule for today (Friday)!! He determined that he thought the compressor was bad (even used a meter to measure windings... uh NO?) He said he would provide a quote for a new heat pump system, which he never did after 3 weeks? So... trying to investigate further. I got my own Digital Volt Meter and also determined there was a blown fuse... I proceeded to purchase NEW fuses from Lowes.... And to my complete surprise.... the unit turned on and cools like it has for 40 years... Yes... original AC unit. Come on now???? Why did you lead me and the home owner to a NEW unit for $15K-$17K???? When you should have known to try the new fuse. You bragged to me about how many years you have worked in the industry, that makes me think.... how many times you try to 'trick or mis-lead' people that may not be able to determine the issue on there own. I'm also letting COSTCO know that they should question your technical skills and recommendation practices.... I'm an honest hard working individual. You should do the same????? Shame on you, I also tipped you $40... for a BS story about a compressor that did NOT need to be replaced.

I was given a time frame of 8-10am but told that they tend to be on the earlier side of the window. John arrived exactly at 8am! * John was friendly, and explained things well (and without being patronizing). He showed me various options and explained the pros/cons of each. I didn't feel pressured to choose a certain option, and I didn't feel like he was trying to up-sell me at all. He really helped me make the right choice for our home. * The cost was a little bit less than the other estimate I had received, and was more inclusive. * The quote was sent with three different options, plus optional add-ons, with the price broken out, and everything included clearly listed. It was also a signable contract where we could simply check off what we wanted. This made the process much quicker and easier than it otherwise would have been. Within hours of receiving the contract, we had our installation date set for less than a week later. * What might have blown my mind the most was after signing the contract, John said he might have a portable AC we could use in the meantime. I guess sometimes they have those available, sometimes not. It wasn't something we talked about so this was a very happy surprise, and a great example of going above & beyond! He came the next day to install it, and showed me how I could re-install it myself if I wanted to move it at some point. * The day of installation, Chris and his team were on time again, at the very beginning of the window provided. It was a 2-day project since we replaced the AC, furnace, and duct work throughout the house. They were quick, surprisingly quiet, and clean! I was able to work like it was a completely normal day. When they said they were done, I was shocked to see that everything was already cleaned up- you'd never know anyone was there! * In addition to replacing everything, they redid the inside of the closet where the AC filter, furnace, etc. lived. It's so much cleaner-looking and will be easy to keep clean. It looks like the entire inside of the closet was replaced- even the thing it was sitting on was replaced. * A year of maintenance (2 visits) are included at no additional cost, which I appreciate.
