Forever now, my expectations for tacos have changed. And it's Albert's fault.
We'd been invited to an event (a baby shower, to be exact), and that's where we were first introduced to Albert's tacos. He was the event's caterer, hired to feed 50-70 hungry guests, and his food--his incredibly delicious assortment of tacos and accompanying array of sauces and salsas--blew us away. Seriously, while eating, I had to take a seat. This was an experience.
Albert's tacos--carne asada, shrimp, carnitas, and chicken--are such delicacies. He takes so much pride in what he presents and offers; he truly stands by his product. Even his sauces are hand-made and specifically designed to draw out the flavors for each taco. (Even the beans--I'm telling you, the beans!--were exceptionally delicious.)
We loved Albert's tacos so much that we decided--an easy decision, really--to have him cater our two receptions. First, however, he invited us to his private residence so that we could have a private taste-testing lunch. What a great way to sell it! We arrived, he had places set, and tortillas on the grill. He explained his technique and his ideas for serving our guests. (This was a couple months in advance, and since then, I had literally been craving his appearance.) He arrived, set up, and the line of guests never ended. They returned for seconds and thirds. And on the following reception the next weekend, our guests followed suit.
If you are looking for a caterer, someone professional, someone extremely personable, and someone who stands by their menu, giving Albert a call and setting up an appointment with his is the SECOND best thing you could do. The FIRST would be when you are tasting one of his tacos for the first time. read more
