First time using a home inspection and detail report was amazing. Highly recommend. We are going to use them for our other property. We are purchasing that's under construction as well. read more

Professional and efficient. Report was thorough and detailed. Would highly recommend using their services.

I used Bent Nail to do my initial home inspection (when I purchased) and did a more limited follow-up inspection with them four years later. Given I used them again, that should tell you that the quality of their initial whole-house inspection was excellent. This limited one was just as good. My realtor had recommended a different inspector for our previous home, and they were not good at all, as they missed multiple problems. Bent Nail finds everything! (although we had no bent nails!) :-) read more

Bent Nail Inspected our new home in Star twice, once at closing and one year later. They missed what would become a major problem with our roof a couple of years later. This problem, called "Ski Sloping", the flashing along the edge of the roof lifts up and water leaks under the eaves. Due to poor construction practices it is apparently a fairly common problem with builders like Toll Bros, but takes several years to become a problem and damage occurs. I called Bent Nail to ask how this was missed during my inspections? They said they would get back to me, that was four weeks ago and I haven't heard from them yet! If they had caught this problem during our inspections, I bought have save a lot of money and it would have been appreciated if they had called me back! read more

Tim Pettee was courteous, efficient and informative. Everything was explained in "layman's" terms. Really enjoyed talking to him and would recommend Bent Nails. read more

This is the 2nd time using them and they are awesome. They explain everything they found and tell you to call with any questions. The reports are so detailed you really don't need to ask anything. read more

I've used Bent nail multiple times but this last time their inspection really missed the mark and most importantly their management response was terrible. Total lack of ownership and accountability for all the misses their inspector had. I gave them the chance to make it right privately but their management simply stopped responding to my emails hence posting this review as I believe their service is not worth anymore if you are selling or purchasing a home and they treat you as if you are a stupid home owner who doesn't understand how things work. I understand that when you buy a used house, it will not be perfect by any means and an inspector cannot detect all the issues, however the reason I'm very disappointed with Bent Nail's service is because they missed some OBVIOUS issues that were visible to the "naked eye" and detectable within minutes for a good inspector. 1) A/C Water leak - water marks all over from previous leakage. We detected the leak within minutes of turning the AC on. We paid ~$300 to have the drain line repaired but the AC guys said we have potentially a bad coil which cost ~$4,000!. 2) Missing GFCI in two baths. This home is 2019 and it is not code compliant in those two bathrooms. I've made a few real estate transactions within the last ten years and guess what? , if there is no GFCI for the bathroom outlets the house will not pass an inspection, period. I even sold a house a couple of years ago where Bent Nail did the inspection for the buyer and they called out that my house was missing the GFCI which I needed to pay an electrician to install. I built a couple of homes in the last 10 years and the same, if no GFCI in the bathrooms the house will not get the city permits. 3) Exhaust Fans - We ended up replacing 4 exhaust fans because guess what? - their air duct was blocked. Again, I would not expect an inspector to see a blocked duct but an inspector should have detected the symptom which in this case was exaggerated noise when you turn the fans on. 4) Squeaky floor and buckled carpet: These may not be safety or functional issues but issues that need to fix them and they add up to the repair bill. Overall, it is very difficult to comprehend why these easy to detect issues were missed and one must wonder if the inspector is qualified. Buying a house is a serious decision and easy to detect issues like these can cost your customers thousands of dollars if not highlighted in your inspections. The reason we have used Bent Nail's services is because for the most part your inspectors are meticulous and help us check for major issues but this time you guys completely missed the mark. I wish you guys would show/demonstrate some ownership for these misses. As you can see, I'm not just a customer making stuff up, I reached out because these are real issues and so far I've spent ~$500 to repair them (with the potential to spend another $4,000 for the A/C coil) while I spent $585 for your inspection so the ROI on your inspection was not really great I believe my review is fair as an inspector cannot be held accountable for every single detail you find in a used home but these fours issues were obvious and could have helped us saved some money and potentially we could have had some negotiation leverage at the time of purchase. read more

With nearby blasting causing cosmetic damage to my home I called Bent Nail in a panic. I requested the gentleman who did the original inspection four years prior. The following Monday they sent out Will and he was great. He arrived on time, was through, professional and very knowledgeable. He patiently humored all my dumb questions and put my mind at ease over some issues. Worth every penny for peace of mind and documentation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bent Nail Inspections. read more

Timely, thorough, and informative. Gave us the confidence we needed for purchasing our new (to us) home.

Great company! I always have inspections done on houses I'm selling! They were easy and great to work with! Would definitely recommend them!

I know several people who would not have a 3rd party inspection done on a home that is new construction but we did and it was totally worth it! William was professional, thorough and very knowledgeable. He took time to show us his findings, explain and answer all of our questions. He found several things, one being a small water leak that will be easily fixable but it may not have been found for a while if we had not had the inspection done. Photos and a few short videos were included in the report which was very easy to read and understand. The report was promptly done and sent to us. Highly recommend! read more

Highly recommended. Very thorough. This company provides video and written reports with clear explanations of their inspection. Thank you so much. read more

Scott G. Operations Manager Jaime Callen is a very difficult, rude and unprofessional person to work with. I am extremely unhappy with the inspection work on my home. I have contacted Mr Davin Strand (Owner). He has not reached out in order to resolve. If you like Frustration and to be charged for services not rendered then use Bent Nail. Buyer beware! read more

I requested William and Bill arrived for my inspection. At no point did Bill inform me that he came instead of William. I understand businesses can't guarantee a specific employee, but it would be nice to be told it is a different employee than requested. I really liked Bill and he appeared to be very thorough. I was ready to recommend this company with a 5-star review, but then I received the inspection report. Important photos regarding past water damage were blurry and some of the information totally contradicted what Bill told me in person. I specifically asked Bill about water in the crawl space, so this information was especially concerning. Bill told me verbally that some of my doors had stripped screws. This was not specifically annotated in the report. There was no location identifier for six pictures of door hinges other than "Doors". This is not very helpful when you have fifteen doors that are similar. The descriptions in the report were limited to two sentences. A few pictures were upside down. A picture of the garage door was included in the section on "Walls, Ceiling and Trim". Another photo in the "Interior" section was nowhere to be found in my home. The builder couldn't even find it. None of the photos indicated their location in the "Interior" section, so I had to search for them. Alex contacted me via email to see how the inspection went. I replied expressing concern and requesting clarification of items on the report. Meanwhile Bent Nail is sending me multiple emails requesting that I review their business. I didn't receive a reply from Alex, so I follow up and she explains she's only in charge of the feedback requests and my email was forwarded to someone else who would be in the office the next day. Several days later I receive an email saying that they had Bill reach out to me and he left a voice mail. The email said the inspector would reach back out to me and they verified my phone number was correct. There was no name indicating who sent this email. If Bill or anyone else tried to call me my iPhone logs all the calls and messages. No one called. I emailed Bent Nail explaining this and requested my emails be forwarded to David Strand the owner. I never heard anything back from Bent Nail Inspections Customer Service or David Strand. I find this very disappointing after paying the company $462 for this inspection. I have received seven inspection reports on homes I've owned. These reports had clear photos and sufficient enough detail that I didn't have to recontact the inspector for clarification. I'm in a development with many new homes and others coming up to the end of their warranties. I will not be recommending Bent Nail Inspections for inspections or warranties based on my experience. read more

We recently worked with Bent Nail to get an inspection after we completed a home remodel. They were so quick to respond to an appointment request which was really appreciated. They were very communicative about the process they were going through. They provided a brief summary of the most important issues before they left and we had the detailed report delivered to us in less than 24 hours. Highly recommend! read more

Will from Bent Nail did a very complete and professional inspection on our new home. I really learned a lot regarding the great construction techniques and quality of our new home. I learned a tremendous amount by listening to his explanation of different systems used throughout the house. I didn't expect to find out much wrong with our house, but the value of this inspection was the knowledge passed on to me from his experience. Well worth the money. Thanks Will! read more

Extremely thorough, professional, and reliable! They really set the bar high! I have now used Bent Nail Inspections for two of my homes, thanks to the recommendation of my wonderful realtor. The first time was back in 2018 when I bought my very first home, my pride, soon to become my very cherished rental property. Bent Nails went all out to make sure the sellers weren't hiding anything that was wrong. The home was newer so there wasn't much wrong, made it easy to flip through the pages of the report. I was even more impressed when we had them once more inspect another house we bought in 2020. First off, the inspect report was fat! So much information. It was an older home, there was a lot to point out and our inspector made sure to notate every last detail. He went as far as to notate every single crack in the Sheetrock, even chips on the toilet! I say that is quality service worth your buck. I would definitely use their services again when I buy my third property, heehee! I wish you could find great house inspectors like this in every city! read more

Austin did a very thorough inspection for us. He was happy to walk us through his findings and explain everything to us. His report was clear and concise including photos and suggestions on who to reach out to (licensed plumber, HVAC technician, etc) to find out more about each issue. We will definitely use him again! read more

We used Bent Nail when we purchased our home and used them again for a follow up inspection before the home warranty expired. We highly recommend them. Our inspector, Tim Pettee was very meticulous in inspecting all aspects of our home from the roof and attic to the crawl space, and of course, everything in between. He was very professional and his level of knowledge was outstanding! We sure appreciate how he explained things to us in an easily understandable manner. He provided a very comprehensive report of his findings that evening complete with pictures of all areas of concern. We are very pleased with Bent Nail and have subscribed to their annual roof, attic and crawl space inspection program. read more

bent nail was hired by a realtor who represented a buyer of my home in Meridian. my home was only 4 years old and In impeccable condition. The inspector hired to look at the house nitpicked every minor thing they could possibly uncover. They even went so far as to pointing out the most minor flaws that were obviously there when the house was built. At some point during the inspection, the guy removed an access panel and broke the hardware, then left it there and didn't bother to tell anyone about it. These guys are complete clowns and only nitpicked things because they want to look like they were going above and beyond. they put my realtor through the wringer with their punch list. Not professional at all. read more

My realtors, Tom and Katie Westhora from Top Idaho Homes in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho, highly recommended Bent Nail Inspections for the inspection of a house I just purchased in Star, Idaho. They were very responsive and were available to come out the next morning for an inspection at the last minute which was really convenient. The app and website made it very convenient to sign and pay online to get the process rolling. Chris, from Bent Nail Inspections, thoroughly inspected the house for almost three hours and then gave me the opportunity to meet on site and walk through the house with him at the completion of his inspection. Chris was awesome, stellar and very personable! He pointed out things, provided by his expertise, about any issues or modifications and he took his time with me and my realtor. Chris promised the written report the next day, but low and behold he provided me a comprehensive and nicely written report the same evening with photos attached. Chris and Bent Nail Inspections were BOMB! Thanks you guys! read more

I recently used Bent Nail inspections for a home we bought in Meridian. My agent recommended them and we knew she had great contacts, but we were REALLY impressed! Robert was the guy that did our inspection and he was soooo nice and helpful. We live out of state, so he FaceTimed us after his inspection and went over EVERYTHING (big and small) that he found on the home. He spent a long time going over everything in great detail, and answered every question we had we a ton of patience and was very through. My husband asked if he would measure how big the side access was () and Robert did it no questions asked! If you're looking for a company that is priced reasonably, responsive, friendly and reliable, check this place out! Thanks Robert! The Hutchings read more

Not many place have 5 star rating overall with more than a few reviews. You will notice over 100 here. These guys were fantastic. I didn't call them, my realtor recommended and I went with it. My realtor knows her stuff. If you need a good realtor I can recommend her also because she put me in touch with Bent Nail. Full inspection report that night. Included video where needed but an entire video run down of the inspection, not just an online report. I'm an out of ton buyer and was not there for the inspection. With the results of the inspection I had what I needed to ask for another $5,000 off the price of the home. Can't beat that deal. Less than $1000 for an inspection and saved me $5k on the deal. Professional and personable. These are the guys to use in the Boise area. read more

Living so far away from our potential new home I wasn't able to attend the inspection in person. Without even asking them they automatically sent me pictures and video clips highlighting the areas of the home that they recommended to be repaired. A detailed color-coded list of the items that could be clicked on to show pictures and even more detail kept everything organized and easy to review. I never expected such great service. Thank you Bent Nail Inspections! You made my first home inspection a surprisingly-pleasant experience. read more

Bent Nail made the stressful process of a home inspection smooth and effective. They were able to schedule me the day after I called and Jamie and Alex were great at explaining the details and the entire process over the phone. Our inspector Austin was very thorough, detailed, and professional. He walked the property with us and explained the things he had found needed our attention. He was friendly too. They provided a complete report the same day of the inspection and it included photos and descriptions of everything. Again, very thorough and easy to follow. We added radon testing as well and the report came the same day the 48 hours test finished. I would recommend Bent Nail to anyone looking for home inspections! read more

Ok, hopefully I'm not duplicating my review bc YELP said I never finished it... FROM ALMOST A YEAR AGO. =( Both COVID and my builder were causing completion delays to my home, but BN's was very accommodating. COVID also kept me from being at the site during the inspection, it was clear, BN's was very thorough with their inspection (and written report); which allowed me to sign off with the builder and take ownership of my home on schedule!! Several months after taking ownership my dryer was delivered (delayed due to COVID), but it would not work due to an outlet malfunction. I was able to utilize BN's report to prove to the builder it was malfunctioning prior to ownership and they quickly sent out an electrician to fix the issue. On the flip side, I now enjoy receiving BN Newsletters for knowledge & fun ideas and have no problems suggesting them to others. ~Thanks so much for your assistance with my forever home BN's!! read more
