The menu was full of mostly sandwiches and burgers, which suited us just fine. I ordered the Roo Burger and my wife the Open Vegie Melt. We were excitedly told about what was in each meal before being told to not worry about paying yet and to grab a seat. I also ordered a strawberry milkshake, which was unfortunately a little disappointing and essentially just a Big M in a glass. I did have it topped up for free while I was half way finished though. We were the only ones in the cafe, but the wait for our food was still quite a bit, but once it did come out I was more than happy. The Open Vegie Melt was big and cheesy and the Roo Burger was absolutely delicious, not too big, but the perfect size to fill me up. The breakfast menu looked to be quite good too, containing all of your standard cafe brekkie items. We were in the area looking for a new house, so I hope that I'll be able to head back soon to try out more of what's on offer!

Nothing sensational but every word is gripping, holds your attention. He's critical, but constructive and I find that endearing. He keeps you wanting to come back and hear what he'll say next time. Actually that is a very nice suit. Not the suit of a lawyer mind you. A modern gentleman owns this suit. One of a kind. Individual detail. A touch of theatre. He eats well. Simple elegant fare. Sandwiches, picnic friendly luncheon food, occasionally dessert. Never to excess, just the right amount. One visit and he nourishes the soul.

The atmosphere is modern and industrial while being warm, inviting, cozy and flowing. The tables on rails are cool. The back patio is cute, too. The breakfasts and brekkie sangas are priced really well for Melbourne, and are BETTER than most of those other fancy pants places anyway. The pastries at the till are yummy, too. They aren't big on wanky latte art either, just great tasting and best of the best high-quality coffee with no cheap gimmicks. Come here for some of the best coffee of your life - filter, espresso or capp. You will not be disappointed. I've also purchased the best coffee beans for home here. Not to mention that the bircher muesli has rosewater, pomegranate and walnuts scattered on top, a boiled egg is served with a perfectly squidgy centre, the baguettes (stuffed with all sorts of Frenchy things) come from Noisette, the macarons by Josephine and the coffee... well. That needs a paragraph of its own. Le Flâneur has an intense focus on the beloved bean. Tony the barista has been gifted with a beautiful workstation - it's big and features all manner of contraptions, like various cold drip filters (for coffee and tea), a number of pour-over sets, infra-red syphon and other bits and bobs that coffee geeks like me love to ogle. It's beautifully presented and in many ways acts as a centerpiece for the cafe - allowing customers to be included in the process in a way that isn't intimidating or wanky. Cold drip is extracted quite long and served in a glass jug on a wooden tray, along with a glass of ice and little jugs of brown sugar syrup and milk. I'm a straight up black with no sugar kind of girl, but I imagine I may eventually be tempted to pour the contents in with my coffee to see what it tastes like. That's the thing with this place - for some reason you feel safe trying something you normally wouldn't. It's friendly and comforting, the staff immediately feeling like friends. The space is like the home you always dreamed of, and the food just like your Mum would make... if she were French, and oh so very chic.

The Seven Seeds blend was as distinctive as usual, whilst there were a number of single origins available I'm very keen to try at a later date. For one of the few times in ages I actually ordered an 'smashed avo', unfourtunately as the choices seemed rather limited for lunch (the menu seems rather breakfast focused). I ordered it with some smoked salmon, which was a seriously delicious addition, and the use of capers was a unique touch which worked very well! 'Tucked' away on the corner of Church St and Victoria St, it's one of those cafes easy to miss when you're driving by. It is simply designed, but has a very comfortable feel. Definitely a place to go on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but make sure you book ahead as I reckon it would get very busy!

Our server was very friendly and helped us with the menu and answered all our questions. GLORIOUS GREEN SMOOTHIE- banana, spinach, kale, avocado, honey, almond milk, and pea protein This smoothie was very light. It tasted healthy, but still sweet. The banana flavor was strong so it overpowered the kale and spinach and the avocado didn't have a taste, but it made the smoothie thick and smooth. PRANA LOOSE LEAF CHAI LATTE This chai was so strong and bold. I love the thick consistency of it and the strong spices. It was very aromatic. I could really taste the spices and it wasn't milked down at all. It was so strong and so good. BUBBLE & SQUEAK- caramelized prawn and chorizo, purple potato, red cabbage, fried egg, caper hollandaise, and purple bubbles with panko and parmesan Sadly, their bubble machine was broken so we had to do without the bubbles, but the dish was still really good. Overall, this dish was very meaty. I really like the meaty chorizo with the texture and sweetness of the purple potato. The hollandaise was creamy and the fried egg was perfection. Everything worked so well together. STACK ON WAFFLES- saffron and caramelized banana waffles injected with wild strawberry coulis, topped with lemon curd, whipped cream, and chocolate macarons This dish was really good. The waffles were slightly crispy and fluffy, which tasted great with the sweet and creamy whipped cream and tart lemon curd. The strawberry coulis added some fruitiness to the dish and overall the dish was the perfect balance of sweetness. CHARCOAL CHARGER- activated charcoal organic oats, turmeric poached pear, caramelized marshmallow, coral tuile, oreo crumble, and raspberry soy milk I really liked the poached pear. It was really soft and sweet, which went well with the nutty oats, and the mushy marshmallow, and crunchy oreo crumble. The raspberry soy milk was fruity, but overall this dish was too sweet. The oreo was sweet and on top of that is the marshmallows, all coated with the soy milk. It was just too much. I would definitely come back again. It's definitely a great place to grab some brunch.

Actually, I vaguely remember going to a cafe in the area years ago, though I suspect that even if it was this one, it was probably the one that was here before this one appeared. I was let down this time. Their vegan options had dwindled to just one and we had to 'make your own' to put together a meal which turned out extremely expensive for what we got. The vegan option was crumpets with spread. As we were hungry we opted for toast with the sides of avocado, hash brown, mushrooms and tomato. This came to the hefty sum of $22! (I'm certain we were charged for the eggs even though we didn't order them) The meal it self was tasty! I couldn't help wishing for lemon with the avocado but the hash brown was so delicious! The service was great and friendly and the place is so adorable. There was a very long wait on food, which we were fine with and they had set our expectations early. There also seemed to be a bit of a wasp problem so we needed to move inside. I love the outside tables on what is a quiet spot on queensberry st, so I hope they deal with the wasps somehow. It was like watching a comedy sketch, everyone flapping them away or running about then sitting down again. Overall, it was too expensive for such a basic meal and took way too long to come out considering there was still empty tables. Order the set meals and you will probably have a much better experience!
