The kids love it and it's usually not very crowded which makes for a very pleasant way to spend a day. The tickets are a little pricey, but it includes plenty of activities including a petting zoo and corn maze. They have an indoor and an outdoor bar as well as a lunch restaurant and shop, so you really could spend the whole day!

When you initially walk onto the property there's a sight that has an arrow pointing towards the direction of the store and another arrow pointing towards the direction of the ticket booth. I didn't go to the ticket booth so I'm not sure what that area entails. This review will be restricted to the store and their pumpkin patch selection that's located out front. I really enjoyed the store. They have a bunch of treats and knick knacks available for purchase. I ended up buying 1/2 dozen of donuts. 3 were apple cider and the other 3 were their pumpkin donuts. The pumpkin ones were pretty tasty, but their Apple Cider donuts take the cake by far. So delicious! As far as the pumpkin selection out front I thought it was a little sad. I found much healthier looking pumpkins at Walmart. Overall, it's a cute place to bring your family especially during the holidays. Will definitely be back for those donuts!!

Dollinger Family Farm checked all the boxes, so we gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did because we had a very positive experience. We arrived on a Saturday right when it opened to avoid crowds. There were others there, but distancing was so easy. There were signs everywhere about wearing a mask and there was also a hand-washing station. We noticed a lot of other farms that are an easy drive from like Chicago did not take this pandemic seriously at all, so we loved supporting a farm that did take it seriously. We looked a bit at the animals--so cute!--before heading over to look at the pumpkins (AKA the main event). They had a tractor set up with a bunch of assorted squash for the perfect photo op. Then, pumpkins were sorted into piles based on size with a sign with the price. For example, a pile with $8 pumpkins. I believe the most expensive were $12. We selected two $8 pumpkins that were huge! My only suggestion would be to actually label the pumpkins with prices. The people in front of us in line picked a pumpkin from the $9 pile, but the employee insisted that this was too big of a pumpkin to have come from that pile. She said sometimes customers move the pumpkins around. I don't blame the customers for being a little frustrated because they obviously picked their pumpkin with the price in mind. We were worried this might happen to us, but they did not question when we told them we picked $8 pumpkins. The service was excellent. An employee actually took our pumpkins and we could drive up to pick them up before leaving. It was so helpful not to have to carry these huge pumpkins over to the car ourselves. We will definitely be back next year!

This place was free but you just had to pay for food and rides tickets. Overall loved the goats and animals here. The pumpkin patch was really nice where you could buy some small or big pumpkin. We bought their fresh made apple cider drink in the fridge.

We visited Sonny Acres Farm today to kick off the fall season, and while my family did have fun,…read morethere were a couple of experiences that really put a damper on the visit. First, we came with our double stroller and tried to use the accessible paved route into the farm. Instead of allowing us to take that route, the attendant insisted that we push our stroller over the loose gravel. With a double stroller, this was incredibly difficult and unnecessarily inconvenient. We also watched another family with an older man trying to get a wagon with two children through the same area, and they were repeatedly getting stuck just like we were. If there is an accessible paved route, it seems like families who need or benefit from it should actually be allowed to use it. Especially now that there is a new $10 admission fee, I would expect the experience to be a little more accommodating and organized. The second issue was at the apple cider donut stand. I ordered 16 donut holes, which were clearly listed as $10. The woman taking my order told me my total was $10.85, then proceeded to click the 20% tip option, which at first I hadn't noticed she clicked, and she directed me to tap my card on the card reader. It didn't work the first time I tapped my card, so she had to re-enter the entire transaction, and that's when I noticed she clicked the 20% tip option again. I looked at the total on her phone and it came up to $12.86. I told her the total wasn't right and that she had purposely added a 20% tip TWICE. I made sure the total was corrected before paying for my donuts. What concerns me most is how many times this could have happened throughout the day with customers who didn't notice the discrepancy, especially since you don't automatically receive a receipt unless you specifically ask for one. A $10 purchase becoming nearly $13 because a tip was added without the customer requesting it is not something that should be happening. Overall, my family did have fun and there are definitely things we enjoyed about Sonny Acres. However, between being made to push a double stroller through loose gravel despite an accessible paved route being available and having to catch an unexpected tip being added to our food purchase, there were some pretty frustrating experiences to kick off the fall season. Hopefully these are issues that can be addressed, because the farm has the potential to continue to be a fun family fall tradition.

The cows are my favorite! I wish I could give this place a 5 star but this last visit we lost 2 kids in our group because the hay stacks have two exits. I wish they could block one side off. Also, a SOBER, careful adult in our group almost got plowed in the head with one of those hammers from the strong man game while she was walking by a man doing it. They really should put a staff member there AND put a fence around it. Those adults having fun aren't looking around every time they swing... it's a recipe for disaster.
