Recently visited this place and was disappointed with overall experience, wait times was excessively long, the staff was unprofessional, despite having an appointment, we still waited over 30 minutes, then we were told they're behind schedule and we have reschedule, that is very rude and explains that these people has no time management skills, with that I decided to leave I can't trust people like this place who can't even manage time, being unprofessional and who can't even clean or organize the office, horrible experience, they don't care about ur time, I don't recommend this place.

We used The Tax Return to do our 2017 taxes last year and they LOST all of our paperwork for…read moreseveral months. Then they finally found it again and filed our taxes but instead of sending us a copy of our FULL tax return for our records, all we got back from them was the first two pages of our 1040 and only ONE page of the two-page Schedule C. They don't even know how to scan documents correctly. The scan each page as a separate file instead of combining them into one PDF, which is NOT how a professional tax preparer would return electronic copies of your paperwork to you! Obviously, after they lost all of our stuff last year, we are NOT using them to file our taxes this year. But we need last year's complete Schedule C to file our 2018 taxes and have requested that they provide us with that. But now they aren't even responding to our emails. I strongly advise you to stay far, far away from The Tax Return unless you don't care if they lose your stuff and then don't even give you a full copy of your return when they're finished.

I decided to have my taxes prepared this year by a CPA - due to all of the things I had to take…read moreinto account - buying a home this past year, capital gains from stocks to make the down payment on the mortgage - and so on - I needed for my returns to be accurate. And I don't trust accountant chains - such as H&R Block. In short, I felt my tax situation this year was more complex than normal and I was a lot more comfortable having someone who knows this stuff taking care of it. And having someone to represent me to the IRS should they have any questions about the preparation. I visited with Brown and Associates, P.C. last Sunday afternoon - met with Nettie - dropped off my documents with her, filled out some forms, had a conversation - and then waited. Nettie called me a couple of times during the week for some additional documentation she needed. They called me this morning to inform me the work was done and that I could stop in to pick up my paperwork. I stopped in before lunch, met with Nettie, went over everything, and got some good additional advice from Christie - one of their Staff Accountants. My only criticism of their business is knowing how much you are going to pay for their services. They charge by the forms they need to fill out - which makes sense. But, it would be helpful from an expectations and customer service standpoint if they had a checklist they could go over with you ahead of time to get an idea or guesstimate of how many and what forms would be needed and what that cost might be.

It wasn't clear they wouldn't be submitting my return until paid in full, which resulted in significant delays.
