I happened upon this bakery one night after dinner. The aroma was intoxicating and once I discovered where it was coming from I knew I had to try. I went crazy and bought a box of various pastries. The dossants (?) were amazing. My kids devoured the donut holes. The cinnamon roll was on point but could use some more glaze according my son. The only thing I think could use a bit of improvement was the scone. Maybe add some lemon glaze. It was kinda dry with just the sugar on top. Please visit this bakery! read more

A must visit when in Surfside. We rented bikes while we were there and biked there each morning for their wide variety of fresh bagels, sweet breakfast treats, breakfast burritos, delicious coffee & smoothies. We never did take advantage of their lunch but their menu looked amazing. They have baguettes too. They sell cheap used books if you need a beach read. Highly recommend. Service wasn't consistently good so I give it 4 stars. :) cute murals on the outside make it a fun spot for photos. Located off of 3rd street in a sleepy neighborhood. read more

This place was a bit far from North Myrtle beach, like 40 minutes, but I read their reviews and I was Jonesing for some descent Artesian bread , so I made the drive just for that. When I got there , I found out they normally just sell to the big stores like bi-lo or other grocery stores but the guy I talked with on the phone set me aside 2 loaves of his private stash of sesame french bread...for free! Then he walked me through the factory asking me what else I'd like. They were preparing orders for other company's . They make bagels, french bread, baguettes, croissants and other stuff .They also have these 1 1/2 lb.loaves of fresh Marble Rye. REALLY good!! It would be nice if they opened a bakery for the average Joe to go to, but even tho they don't have that right now, they will still sell to you. they really accommodated me well! I found out about this place from a food festival where I met the owner and tried the cold brew. The next day I ventured into the actual bakery and I'm very glad I did! The bagels are baked fresh daily and absolutely delicious. The pastries, specifically the danishes are also wonderful and I got chocolate chip cookies to bring home. I finally went here & I've not been disappointed. I've had bagels with cream cheese, all the donut hole flavors, a cheese Danish, a dossaint (wow, that thing is so good), the owner suggested we try a bialy breakfast sandwich (great suggestion), flavored iced coffee, flavored latte, bought some dog treats for a friend's new puppy, & my friends gave me some ground coffee. Very impressive bakery. Five stars for the assortment of great baked goods from donuts to savory bread. The Jimmy johns had much higher quality chocolate icing than you ever find! And the white cream filling was just the right sweetness. I wanted a little more filing. But they're very good!! A standout was the "Dossants" (an amazing combination of croissant and donut) topped with a yummy glaze. Outstanding! Addictive! Kudos to Benjamin's!!! I would've gladly given the entire place five stars for great coffee, but alas, the coffee was not a high point for me. The flavor was alright but the body weak. it felt like just yesterday that benny and i were lil sprouts running along the coast. now look at us: one of us owns a successful bakery and the other is organizing the raid on area 51. despite our 31.2 year friendship, i can't let favoritism effect my reviews, so here it is: my honest review. firstly, bathroom: lots of mirrors so u can look at yourself as you tinkle. three bottles of frebreeze so you don't have to worry when the coffee hits you. faucet is a little confusing but after a few tries it gets easier. secondly, nourishments: the chocolate croissant is filled with chocolate unlike others establishments that only have a tiny strip of chocolate in their croissants. do you want a nice and delicious donut? well too bad, you can't get that here. but you can eat like 13.5 donut holes and you get similar after effects. thirdly, liquid nourishments: the frappes are nice and refreshing. i believe they offer water for free. and you can get a free regular coffee when you check in on yelp. lemme tell you, i've never felt more powerful than carrying out two drinks for myself. it felt like such a power move. fourthly, decor: there are a lot of old cameras in this joint. but the employees don't appreciate when you stand on a chair and try to grab one. fifthly, final notes: overall this place be pretty poppin. 9/10 read more

Went there for breakfast and was it was past breakfast so it was not busy. I had a poppy seed bagel with butter, Swiss cheese, ham and egg. It was exactly what I wanted except, the ham was the best tasting ham I have ever had. Bought a bunch of pastries for later. We have eaten two and they were excellent as well. I really can't express how personable and excellent my experience here is each time. The brew and the pastries are top notch. I'm particularly fond of their "dossants" which are doughnuts that are made with croissant dough. Melt in your mouth good. It's a cozy, communal dining area buzzing with life. Disappointed with the bagels. They looked like those low calorie flat bagels. Good selection but they were ridiculously thin and looked like they forgot the yeast or something. Cut them open and they were very dense and doughy inside. I would say they just messed up a recipe but every flavor was the same. We haven't bought from here in close to a year after getting some bad service and wanted to give them a second chance. If you are from the northeast and know how a bagel is supposed to taste, don't go here. These bagels are like bread in a bagel shape. Additionally, unless you have a good 15 minutes to waste even with only one other customer in the place (and 7 workers) don't go here. That's how long it took to get two plain bagels, plus one with cream cheese and one with butter. They only got the bagels for me when, after 15 minutes, I asked how long it took to get a few bagels. They were also going to toast the bagel, even tho I didn't ask for that. The WORSE SERVICE I've ever experienced. read more

My experience at Benjamin's Bakery was good, not great. When I first got there, I tried the free samples of cakes and bread and they were divine. I also tried the peanut butter cookie and I was disappointed. It was extremely crumbly and did not have the familiar sweetness that cookies normally offer. I ordered the Poplar Drive sandwich, and I liked it. The combination of turkey and bacon with spinach and tomato was delicious. Although, I would like it if the meat was not warm, that way it brought out the cool, crispness of the veggies. In summary I enjoyed Benjamin's Bakery, but there could be improvements. read more

I visited Benjamin's recently to pick up a dozen bagels. Despite being busy, the wait wasn't too long and the employees were very friendly. They have plenty of types of bagels to choose from. The bagels were really delicious and still fresh tasting several days later. They are very large, but not too dense. This place will be a must on all of our future visits to Surfside. read more

This is 100% the best bakery in all of South Carolina, most likely the entire US! The bagels are the best I have ever had, especially the jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese! A great amount of heat, but so savory at the same time! The donut holes are also so delicious and I cannot wait to try more bakery items and sandwiches as well!
