He didn't show me my monitor results, explain to me any findings, talk through theories of what has been going on with my heart, nothing. He came in, used a stethoscope, then said he didn't see anything, and dismissed me mid-sentence lol. I am not exaggerating. I was in the middle of asking him about the results and he straight up shook my hand and started leaving the room. What??? I have been struggling with scary heart issues for two months now and was finally going to see this cardiologist and get things sorted out, and I was dismissed mid-sentence. He spent maybe 3 minutes with me tops, barely said a thing and then practically ran out of the room. I was so, so disappointed. He basically said for me to see my general doctor, and I said "MY doctor told me he didn't know what was going on and to see YOU, a cardiologist!" You can understand how one would leave an appointment like this feeling hopeless. BUT just know that the staff at this facility, not him, he's terrible, but the staff are incredible, helpful and so knowledgeable! They will bend over backwards for you, very cool people, hence why I didn't give this place only one star.

A real family doctor, he identified my dad's cancer, and supported him through the acute years of chemo after setting him up with a great oncologist. My dad is stable and healthy a decade later. He also treated my grandma (nonny) and came to the bedside of her hospice room during those last days of her long life, sharing stories, laughing with us. From my pre surgery appointment to my post colonoscopy, it went as "smooth" as one could expect. Dr Paul Nguyen perfectly articulated what to anticipate the day of. When I arrived at the surgery center for the procedure, I did not have to wait in the sitting room. They promptly brought me into the prep room where I was introduced to my nurse and anesthesiologist Dr Wong or (Dr Fong)? Nurse Julian got me dialed into my gurney and Dr. Wong careful administered my IV. I then was rolled into the surgical room where my favorite tunes were playing and I was greeted by Dr. Nguyen. Next thing I know, I was being rolled out of the room, waiting for my pick up and waving goodbye to the friendliest team of Drs. and nurses. If there is one more point worth mentioning...I never once was anxious or fearful. The staff was so well trained and organized. Because of their timely bedside care, I never had a chance to think too much about what was about to happen. If you are due for a colonoscopy and are worried about the experience, I would highly recommend scheduling your appointment with Dr. Nguyen. He and his staff are a class act. I've had a really terrible time dealing with this office. The professionalism and communication has…read morebeen subpar. I had an emergency surgery scheduled with Dr. Nguyen back in March for an abscess. I did not have the surgeon explain the surgery to me prior to going in. At the hospital he just asked if I was ready to go back. I think the assumption was that I had the procedure before so I wouldn't need to be consulted. I was hospitalized for a couple of days following. I was supposed to have someone from the office come in and check on me and my wound, but my nurses were never quite sure when they were supposed to arrive due to lack of communication. One of the PAs from the office came to see me on the second day to check on my wound. She wasn't quite sure what she was meant to do and while in the room she kept texting the doctor for instructions which I found to be super unprofessional. I had my first recheck at the Watsonville office and the recheck went well. I had two insurances at the time and they already had one on file and then asked me to provide them with the other one which I sent an email to them with the information. This ended up being an issue later on because they never added the second insurance on file and that was the start of billing issues pertaining to the procedure I had with them. I reached out to the office for another recheck as I was having issues and felt that I had a fistula. They scheduled me with the PA Christina again and she did an ultrasound and said I had a fistula and required another surgery. They didn't prioritize this issue and scheduled me out a month to see the surgeon. During this visit I was provided a doctor's note for my work that was not well written by the medical assistant. I had to relay to my manager what she meant because of how it did not make sense. Between then and my appointment I had the office call and say they would no longer see me as a patient as they no longer worked with my insurance. I explained to them multiple times that this should be a continuation of care because it was an issue from the first surgery. We went back and forth several times about this. I had asked to speak to the manager a few times and the staff would go to look for her and claim she was in a meeting or she would relay information to me through the person on the phone but never spoke to me directly. They eventually learned that I was right and that they could still see me as it was an issue from the first surgery. When I saw the surgeon again he said he did not agree that I had a fistula and wanted to have imaging done. I was in the process of scheduling the imaging when not long after that I started to have issues where another abscess started to form. My wound was protruding out and fluid filled. I was experiencing discomfort at this time. They were able to fit me in, but it was with the PA again. She said I was starting to reform the abscess. I had an MRI done the day of that last appointment so they could see if I had a fistula. I got a call from the office to tell me they couldn't do my second surgery and they were dropping me as a patient. I never once got a call explaining what came up in the imaging. They told me to see this specialist surgeon and that was that At this point I had spent two months going back and forth with this office about numerous issues. I was very upset about how everything got handled and asked to speak to the office manager. When the office manager Jeanine called me I explained to her that I was frustrated with the communication. She said there were no notes stating I ever wanted to talk to her. I tried to explain the situation, but she was rude and dismissive. Dr. Nguyen did call me a few days later to discuss my frustrations and he was apologetic and took accountability which I appreciated. During that call he explained to me what they saw in the MRI which again no one had delayed to me prior. I requested my medical records and I was told I would get a call when they were ready. I called a month later asking about them. I got attitude from the girl on the phone stating that they have been ready all this time for pick up. I told her that I was told that I would get a call and she said there was a note that I requested them and that they had them ready. I tried to tell her I never got a call and got hung up on. I called back and it was the same girl, I asked for the manager and she was super dismissive. When I spoke to the manager a second time, I again had the same issue that she was dismissive and condescending. I told her about never getting a call and she claimed someone wrote a note but couldn't give me more information. This woman is very abrasive, rude, and unprofessional. I would recommend going elsewhere because of how unprofessional and unorganized they are. Please seek help elsewhere and document every interaction you have with them if they happen to be your only option.

Him and his colleague Dr McDaniel are the best of the best and anyone who have them as their provider are lucky! Martha the medical assistant is great as well. The only negative is the call center that you have to call into and leave a message for the Dr. Sometimes you get a call back and sometimes you don't. Also they are no longer providing services at Watsonville Community Hospital. But all in all they are worth a short drive if we need to go to a hospital.
