No up-selling or unnecessary treatments included with my visit. Just a good cleaning and examination. I appreciate a dentist and office staff who give you good service and are honest. I have been to a couple dentists in Fernandina that while there offices are shiny and new, they lack experience and are more in a sales position than a medical treatment stance. I have had offices try to sell me their dental insurance, when I have great insurance of my own, and also try to drill my teeth because they "might" get a cavity. I "might" get struck by lightning tomorrow too. Once a tooth is drilled into, it is forever compromised and weakened. I don't like going to a dentist and feeling like I am negotiating for a used car when I am just trying to get my teeth cleaned and ensure there are no underlying problems. I read other reviews of this place and I think they are reviewing the office team that WAS there. Dr. Olson and his crew took over this office. Be prepared that it is not a shiny and new office. The dentist isn't either and I mean that in a good way. He has experience, knowledge and isn't looking to make a buck off his patients.

    I don't know exactly what's going on, but this office clearly needs intervention. There has been…read moresignificant staff turnover since I first became a patient about two years ago. Dr. Olson's quality of care declined noticeably--one example being a filling he placed that fell out just six months later. During that time, it was nearly impossible to reach anyone at the office by phone; the only contact available was a third-party call service located overseas. The office then appeared to be closed for several months, with no clear communication. While the practice has since reopened with new staff and a new doctor, they are clearly understaffed. I waited an hour and a half for my appointment. When it was finally time for X-rays, the machine in the room was not working and couldn't transmit to their IT system. I was told the solution was to use another room, but that room was already occupied, requiring me to wait again until the doctor finished with other patients. I don't typically leave reviews, but this experience is worth mentioning. Ownership needs to step up and address these ongoing issues. The entire office is overdue for updates, including a thorough cleaning, fresh paint, and overall improvements to the quality and appearance of the facility.
