Dr. Mangels is the best of the best. I don't think you can go wrong with his perfectionist demeanor and friendly bedside manner. He is a top notch doctor and person. He cares. He performed a 4 level posterior lumbar interbody fusion for me in 2006 with great long lasting results; so when my neck became a problem, it was a natural decision to select him to perform a 2 level cervical discectomy and replacement with artificial discs. My outcomes have been wonderful. The office staff, as a whole, is pleasant enough but make NO efforts to make themselves available to patients or helpful above the minimal effort. We have all been to other clinics where you feel welcomed and this office does not make that kind of effort. The business office lead, Konni, is fairly atrocious to deal with (and I am a good patient and pay all my bills- I even had to contact my insurance to request them to research and re-file my claim that was submitted by the office incorrectly- I'm not a business office person) so keep that in mind, but otherwise... I would definitely say the skills and talents of the doctors will be THE reasons you are pleased with this office- not the staff. I'm just not accustomed to being initially approached by "professional" business people with the words..." IF you DID call, it's not documented"- I'm sure you meant..." I can't see that my staff documented that call" or something else that sounds less like calling me a liar. I would never act that way to my patients. It's not my fault that YOUR staff don't return calls or document well, that's an office problem. Check yourself and your staff. While I am on the subject of process failures in the clinic, I may as well point out that the phone system is antiquated and inefficiently explained to their customers/patients. You don't get an explanation of the role of the staff you are transferred to on calls, which leads to the humbling experience of being told you erroneously are talking to the "wrong person" (when in fact, the staff explanation just sucks). Phone calls are not returned in a timely fashion from the business (and sometimes nursing or scheduling), all around- so don't hold your breath for a callback. It would seem that a significant culture change is needed within the office to improve customer satisfaction but I won't score the doctors low, because they are very talented. I like my doctor and his scheduler, Bobbi and Ebony at the desk...but the other office staff...hmm, I'll reserve additional comments.

Issac explained to me that it varies state to state and even hospital to hospital. they were busy as usual and parked my emergency cart against the wall in HB 8. For the time I was there I saw and heard a lot. I was a bloody mess but no one seemed to care. no blankets offered until Kiki came along and that was nearly dismissal time. But besides all that I want to give St John a massage. Cologne. When I was there shortly ago an ER nurse walked me to the bathroom. I nearly gagged she smelled so offensive, I wondered how her coworkers could take it. like a realllly strong deodorant is all I can say. I was told that if my claim with Mentor was approved that it is Mentor's policy to mail my reimbursement check to the Physician and that his office would promptly issue that check to me. I waited until July then left several messages for Cheryl. None of my calls were returned. Today, July 27th I called again this morning and was told she would call me today. She did not. I finally called Mentor myself and found out my reimbursement check was mailed April 15th and Received. I also found out from Mentor they only mailed it to their office by request of the Physician. They mail checks directly to patients All the time!! When I dropped by at 4pm today Cheryl printed it right then and had receptionist give it to me. I asked to speak with Cheryl who only came out to see me because I wasn't leaving until she did. Her only explanation is she was out the week after my check came in, she deposited it then forgot to reimburse me. She offered a very defensive apology with a completely dismissive attitude. She also did not care in the least that She personally cost Dr Ratliff a patient. I work in the medical field and will spread the word. Ironically I had just referred our Director to him yesterday. She is no longer going to see him.

I can't say this was a fun day, but it was an exciting day. It started at 5:3O AM we I jumped out…read moreof bed, quickly dressed and rushed to Dr Paulsen's office for my 6 Am appointment with the Morpheus 8 machine. My time in the office was pleasant. The staff from receptionist to nurses to physician are wonderful. I was expecting IV sedation, but the anesthesiologist decided to do general. I think last time I had too much fun work on IV sedation. I was aware of enough to feel and hear the rhythm of the machine and I dreamed about people marching to that rhythm. They told me I was vocal and moving to the beat. It must have been difficult working on a moving target. I had more fun the first time, but I appreciate that under general, the staff could get more done towards making me look youthful. Speaking of looking youthful....while I don't think I actually look youthful, I saw someone this New Years that I haven't seen since my facelift. I have been thinking there wasn't much difference, but he declared "you look different." "I want to say younger." When I told him I'd had some work done, he said " but it looks so natural!" " How did that happen? He elaborated that people he knew looked wind blown and didn't even look themselves. My friend who recommended Dr Paulsen said, "sometimes girls just need a little help."

I started with Dr. Caleb Nunley (Owasso), who is such a great doc. He listened, we talked, and worked out a plan to monitor things. Later on, I met with Dr. Susan Peterson, who did the actually surgery. Dr. Peterson is one of the best doctors I've ever met. She was open and honest about what I would go through, perfectly managing my expectations (which is not an easy thing to do). I could go on and on, but it would just be polish on the diamond. TB&J as a facility is outstanding. From the Union Pines surgery center to the main offices and Physical Rehab facility on the main campus, everyone I interacted with were extremely professional and relateable. Everyone was friendly, helpful and ready to help at every turn. Same goes for the folks at the Owasso office where I'm doing rehab PT. Brac'ee and Kayla have been so great to work with. They push you, sure, but they respect that you're in pain and do have limits. Overall I could not be happier with the entire team at TB&J, and would not hesitate to use them again.
