I had quotes from two other firms, and Riverbend's quote was very competitive and, more importantly, didn't try to upsell me. Brian was also the only one who suggested delaying some of the trimming until my vegetable garden was dormant since it would be difficult to do the work without the risk of having the workers step on my garden plants to do the trimming. The crew was efficient and did a fantastic job of cleaning up afterwards. The crew chief (Benjamin) walked me through the work before they started to make sure everything was addressed, and walked me through the work after completion to make sure all was done to my satisfaction. It was a pleasure working with him. Another distinguishing point is Riverbend's office staff. I was able to get to a real person quickly when I called (a rarity these days). Everyone I spoke with was polite, efficient, and very helpful. Riverbend is an excellent company and I would highly recommend them (and plan to use them for all my tree work from now on).

Early Wednesday morning they had an arborist at the house, dispatched a large crew and a massive crane. They spent 7 hours carefully removing the tree, lifting huge pieces of it over our neighbor's house (thank you, good neighbors!), ground the small and medium branches, and stacked the very large trunk sections on the street. On Thursday they picked up all of the large sections and hauled them away. By 5pm the tree was gone and contractors were able to start doing a temporary repair of the large holes in our garage roof. This was a traumatic experience that was totally unexpected. This was a seemingly healthy tree that just tipped over without warning. Anyone can imagine how it feels to have a huge tree laying on your house. The support from JL Tree's Service went a long way toward making us feel like we were making progress on getting the mess resolved. We have used JL before and always thought they did good work at a fair price. Their response here was exceptional.

He was professional and able to solve the problems we had with ease. He put sod in the backyard and seeded, fertilized, aerated, and sprayed the weeds in the front yard. He provided us with advice for fixing a French drain that was not working properly. He walked us through the process of setting up our own sprinkler system. The sod in the back looks beautiful and thick and the front lawn has made a great comeback and is also thick and green. So THAT needed to go, as well as the remaining 2 ailanthus trees. Then as we looked at the tree with the large limbs, of course then we see it was rotten at the top. So that huge tree also needed to go. Bottom line was we spent way more that we had initially hoped, but once the crew was working it was easy to see why it cost what it did. They had an amazing piece of equipment that fit into the backyard and was able to reach way up to the tree top. The crew did a fantastic job of removing the trees without hitting our roof, the fence, the neighbors house and fence, etc. They also did a wonderful job of cleaning up after the removal, and it at our request left us some oak firewood, nicely stacked. I would not hesitate to hire them again. I had gotten several other quotes before going with Mills. It was hard to compare quotes because we ended up doing more work that initially planned, but we are glad we did the additional work.
