This is one of the best indian restaurant we have been to after an long time. There food service and atmosphere is superb.

I got to Wagamama 5 minutes after it closed and found myself in the position of recalibrating my taste desires. Hopped onto their free wifi and checked Yelp for "pakistani." A two minute walk later I found myself being seated at a table for one at the very classy Bengal Tiger. I ordered some papdum which was served with some great chutneys and pickles. Ordered salty lassi (not on the menu - don't be afraid to ask for it) and ordered the first duck I'd ever enjoyed cooked with an Indian sensibility. The dish in question was Duck Jalfrezy: strips of duck cooked with peppers & tomatoes, garnished with fresh green chillies, lime leaf and coriander. It was great. Didn't want to order naan (feel like I always do) and had chapatie instead - which is a bit more dense and chewy than naan. I felt like they had a few large parties and were pretty busy throughout the night but didn't neglect the lone diner. Mango ice cream finished out my meal. read more

Excellent service and even better food. I live in a city in California that has a lot of Indians, and therefore a lot of Indian food. For that reason I almost skipped getting Indian while out here and am glad I didn't. Easily the best meal I've had since being in London. read more

While the ambiance is relaxing and the decor is elegant, the food is mediocre. I ordered the lunch portion of chicken tikka masala with naan but they served me rice instead of naan. The chicken flavoring was mild, with a slight kick. The rice was bland, no peas :( I've had much better Indian food in my home state of New Jersey. Disappointing. read more

I rate this based on Service, Food, Price and Ambiance. Service is poor and inattentive. I had to ask 3 people for a glass of water. The waiter took an order, delivered food and bill. I did not need an intellectually stimulating debate or a back massage but maybe stop by and ask if I need anything? Food was ok, nothing special. Indian City down the street has much better food. Prices are too high for the quality. Ambiance is nice. Good for groups of people. read more

We've eaten at Bengal Tiger three times now and have really enjoyed it. The food is consistently very good. While the restaurant is on the expensive side, it is an upscale, nicely decorated place and it is in the City (Black Friars / St Pauls area), where everything costs more. I can't think of any other restaurant in the area, serving Indian/Pakistani food, that is better or cheaper. Also, it's one of the few good restaurants in this end of the City that is open on weekends. We live nearby and Bengal Tiger has become our go-to place when we want something tasty on a Saturday or Sunday night. read more

Really good Indian food in a tucked away location. Don't let the location fool you though - it's a little upscale in both decor and prices. Our group ordered the 3 course dinner, and it was a lot of fun to try each dish. I wish I could tell you what we ate, but I am not very knowledgeable on Indian food and can't remember all of the names. Bengal Tiger was located just around the corner from our London base of operations, so we made it a point to give them a try once the jet lag had subsided. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and very modern looking. Definitely a fancier place to go if you fancy a curry. The service was attentive without being pushy, and once we were settled and had placed our orders, they were brought out soon after. Everyone in our party seemed happy with their orders. I can personally attest to the Chicken Tikka Masala and Duck Mango Delight, which were phenominal. The prices were a bit on the high side, but at the same time, the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant more than justified it. If you find yourself in the City and would like to fill up on curry, Bengal Tiger is a great choice. read more

What a scam of a place. They show you a price on the menu and then don't tell you that it's a minimum 2 person order. So even if you order 1 dish they bring out two portions and then charge you for it. The wait staff are rude and push you to order more food, rice and pappadum and then they charge you for each item. By the end of it, we had so much extra food. The food is nothing to brag about either, over sweet and not very tasty. When you question them about the bill the staff gets nasty and tell us we don't understand the menu and they've already explained it once. I eat Indian food on the regular and have never been treated so poorly. One of the worst dinning experiences of my life. I recommend that no one visit this establishment, I felt embarrassed as an Indian to be scammed by my own people!! read more

While the food was acceptable, the service was terrible and the items were overpriced. The waiters would wait by the table, staring as you eat. Surly and unsmiling, once they came to the table, they would push you to order and rush you. The food was what I would expect for that price, but during the meal, I just wished I could've microwaved it. The price was way too much for what I got. Stopped by for lunch on way back form office during visit based on Yelp reviews. Food- outstanding- Lamb vindaloo- excellent heat, flavor and texture. paired with garlic naan, which was to die for. Price- only knock on this place was price- my lunch- water, vindaloo and naan = 20 pounds...ouch. Service was attentive but not overly so. Atmosphere- this is an upscale dining establishment. Expect to pay more than you might elsewhere for the atmosphere Overall- food was great, pricing was a little high. My rating is based more on food, but price almost pushed it to 3 star. The location for this restaurant is good - in a residential neighborhood on a quiet street. The food is fine, but the service wasn't friendly. We had to repeat our order several times and the servers seemed to be annoyed that we showed up with young children in our group. No follow up to see whether we were enjoying our food. We had a really lovely chicken tikka masala and saag chicken, along with an aloo gobi. The sauces for both the chicken dishes were wonderfully and vibrantly flavored, in contrast with the mild creamy sauces found in typical US versions. With the saag, the spinach was not mushy and overdone like you find in the US; instead, it had good texture and flavor. Naan was good, rice portion small. Overall, we were quite happy and would return. To note, the main reason we ended up eating here was because it is open late, until 11pm. read more

I'm giving Bengal Tiger two stars because their food is fairly good, I'd give it 3.5/4 stars but their service is about 1 star. My husband and I went came here based on a pushy recommendation from our Uber driver (which was a bad call, we later learned our Uber driver has a relationship with the restaurant and often drops off his riders to this restaurant - there must be something in it for him). Our waiter was initially friendly. When we ordered soft drinks, one entree and one side dish each, this early wasn't satisfactory to him and he became very rude. He pushed wine and beer, appetizers, side dishes...everything. And he pushed all these things on us multiple times. He was clearly unhappy about us not ordering more (the only correlation we could find was a 12.5% service charge that he likely got a cut of). We ordered what wanted and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Our meal was £38 which inSan Francisco, would buy you an enormous amount of Indian food. I'm glad we didn't cave in based on pressure and buy more, we wouldn't have eat it. Advise to owners: check your service standards! Your food was quite good but your service really ruined our experience!! Also, your soda machine is flat, change the CO2. read more

People seem to like Bengal Tiger, but I'm less than impressed. It's fancy looking and the food is ok, but I find it on the expensive side for what it is. The prices are better during lunch when they have fixed prices; much better than their dinner prices. I haven't gone to any good Indian restaurants by Blackfriar though, so if you're hankering Indian and you're in EC4, it's probably your best bet. read more

Where do I begin...I gave them every chance to make right! First of all, the waiter was in a hurry, didn't want to give us the 'special' lunchtime menu, didn't listen, brought the food but because we sat underneath a really cold aircon unit the food was cold before I had begun. Then the nerve of it over-charged and then added a service charge to the bill - seriously peoples avoid at cost, over charging, too expensive £51 for a quick 30 mins lunchtime and then add insult to injury didn't want to listen when we complained and no apology for over-charging - eat at your peril! read more
