My sister in law loves designer make-up. She needs her name brand stuff. I like to joke with her that "she's a bad girl". Bad girls need "Bad Girl Lash" mascara. I tried to get her a gift today from Benefit but it just so expensive. The lipgloss set with affordable but ugly shades. There was a set but it comes with blue Bad Girl Lash, how tacky. Expect to pay a bomb in here for make-up less fab than MAC, Nars, that I would trust less than Clarins or Clinque. Not worth it. read more

Being from San Francisco, loving makeup, and frequently needing/incapable of doing my own eyebrow waxes, I consider myself a true Bene-babe. Have been for at least 10 years now. I am so happy they have a presence in London, and I will do all within my power to spread the good word of Benefit, especially the brow bar. My brow wax was £13, which is cheaper than they are in the US, even with the 1.50 exchange rate (cause here we don't really have to tip like in the US). The gal did a great job. I love that you can just walk in and usually get seen right away, no wait/appointment necessary! And even if you DO have to wait, there is plenty to look at. Some of my fave benefit products are (in no order): -bad gal lash -big, beautiful eyes palette -high brow -brow zings -eye bright -high beam -dandelion Ok, yea pretty much everything. What can I say? I normally feel entirely too frumpy to go to these slightly trendy places, but my blonde eyebrows needed some help, so I sucked it up and in I went. It was pleasantly busy - that is to say, enough people so I wasn't jumped on by 89 members of staff, but not so busy that I couldn't get help. I examined the eybrow products by myself and found what I thought looked to be what I wanted. At just the right time, someone asked if I needed help, and when I said what I was looking at getting and asked if she could show it to me, it was all taken care of with a smile. She did try to upsell, of course, but in a gentle way - and was quite happy when I said no, I didn't want the other product. She did get me to have my eyebrows waxed though, which wasn't planned but as I hadn't had my threading done in like 4 months, it was time. I have psoriasis under my eyebrows and the beautician came over and checked it all out before she agreed to do the waxing - I appreciated that. Last thing I want are bleeding eyebrows! The waxing was relatively painless and she did a decent job - a few strays to be fixed later. I had heard many great things about Benefit brows so I guess I was expecting to look like a new woman. In all honesty, when she went through the shaping and stuff, mine were already completely in order (just a bit untidy). I normally get my brows waxed for around £5, so the waxing at £12 wasn't really worth it for me. All in all, a good visit, with good products, and staffed by nice people. Quite expensive and a bit intimidating, but worth it as an occasional treat. read more

I love the products, but this store I always feel like I'm pounced on as soon as I enter and there's a need to want to sell the products to me. Which for me can seem a bit pushy! Benefit cosmetics are very expensive but oh so good for your skin and general beauty. Trust me. If you like your make up then you will want to invest here. The mascara is excellent but is about £15 a pop. Also, you can get little paks of various products, such as a little box containing blusher, concealer and lip balm, apparently for emergencies. I got one for a present and it is usful, but costs £24, not sure whether that would be my primary choice. I would go for some of the powder blushers and the skin highlighters which give you a dewy glow. read more

Arrived 5 minutes late (I have a little puppy at home so did as best I could) and was refused treatment because of that. I have been coming to Benefit for almost 5 years. I am American expat and only trust Benefit to do my brows. I normally rate this so highly and have recommended this to all Americans who move over from the US as a great place to get eyebrows done :)! That is...until my visit today with Alesssandra. Everything was rushed, unclean, and she was extremely rude. She didn't wash her hands or use any antibacterial prior to touching my face. It was a miserable experience and when I tried to tell her I was unhappy with my eyebrows, she gave me such attitude I just wanted to leave and get out of there. She rushed through my eyebrows and they are now very uneven...for New Years, clearly not happy about that at all! She was extremely rude when I tried asking her to fix them. The saving grace was her manager seeing the interaction and stepping in when I was checking out. I was actually going to wait and call to speak to the manager, as Alessandra was so rude I was scared to ask in the store right then that she would yell at me. I would recommend Benefit, however ensure you don't have Alessandra at the Upper Street branch! It's an unpleasant experience, she doesn't give the normal service that I love at Benefit! read more

I honestly love Benefit and all their products i think its an amazing company, but when i went in today to do a eyebrow wax and tint the ladies in there had the worst attitudes. It honesty made me not want to be in there, i'm sorry but if you represent an amazing and successful company like Benefit you should have a better attitude towards paying costumers! Everything else was great it was clean and of course my eyebrows looked amazing, I just hope at my next appointment I get treated a little nicer if i am going to be coming in regularly! Claire did a fantastic job shaping my eyebrows and was very conscientious of my level of pain. A really lovely person. Cannot fault the lady who waxed my brows. Only thing I'd say that was slightly inconvenient was I attempted a walk-in and then had to book. The lady booked me in half an hour later, but if I was able to walk straight in and wait it would definitely be a 5* review! I had to hover around and get myself a coffee I didn't need to pass time. But on to the most important part - the brows. They are so professional. Rather than just going for it with little conversation, they ask the shape you'd like, offer tinting and really take care in their craft. I am so over the moon with how my brows have turned out, I opted for a wax only as I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade for colour and texture which I love! I'd recommend to give them a call and book first but will not be going anywhere else now. My brows for the first time ever are in perfect condition and look like twins rather than sisters! I love benefit products - I am not insulting the products here but the poor level of customer services I received in this branch. I went into to exchange some products I had been bought as a gift and actually had the intention of buying quite a few other bits and pieces that would have resulted in me spending far more than the exchange value. However as soon as the girl (Tilly) learned that I was looking to an exchange rather than to spend money she seemed as though she couldn't be bothered with me and I was taking up her valuable time, she kept looking at the clock, didn't recommend any products for me in the end I just swapped over the products didn't spend a penny more and left. It's a shame really because on the whole I really like benefit but I won't be going back into this store again. read more

Great brow service. Went to the store as a walk-in and the brow lady was able to fit me into her schedule and take care of me immediately. I told her about my sensitive skin and fear of wax on my face, and I asked if it was possible to get eyebrow plucking with the tweezer instead of waxing. She was very accommodating and did an amazing job with the plucking. She gave me advice on how to crayon my eyebrows and I love the result of my brows. Will definitely be back! read more

i've been to this branch of benefit many times for lash and brow tints, and recently started letting the ladies there wax my brows as well. generally there's been no problem with the tinting, which is why i've given two stars for this review. but the woman who waxed my brows there today didn't pull the skin beneath the brows while waxing, applied the wax lower on my eye-skin than was necessary and ripped off the cloth too slowly, and as a result my skin feels like it's on fire, and i've returned home to look in the mirror and see there are two strips of raw, burnt flesh above my lids where it looks like a couple layers of skin have been taken off. beware the girls in this salon - they're not real professionals. i would only trust them for tinting after this experience and actually, as i wait for my skin to heal, i'll be looking for a different place altogether to get my brows done in future. as well as switching back to threading for brow shaping. beware!! read more

Benefit are an American cosmetic brands with quirkily named products with retro/vintage style packaging. Some of the products work very well and make a welcome addition to the dressing table or make-up bag, and the staff here are always very keen to offer mini-makeovers which can be useful if you're looking for a particular product. The staff really add to the feel of the place and dress in vintage/retro fashion or other unusual dress when they have a promotion on. Quite a fun shop to visit even if you're not looking for anything in particular. read more
