This was a total waste of my time and money. It was by far the worst beauty treatment I have ever experienced.
I found the communication process while booking my appointment was laborious and inefficient. Although the date of my appointment was immediately confirmed, it took me several follow up emails before they finally advised me of the time of my appointment.
When booking, we had to decide which lashes I wanted in order to pay the appropriate deposit. I had no idea what the differences were between the various types of applications and therefore had to guess and pay the deposit accordingly.
I was sent the Consent form and waiver two days before my appointment and was advised to sign and return it prior to my appointment. The form requires confirmation that the treating practitioner has provided information, given me the opportunity to ask questions, given me time to consider the treatment, etc. I could not sign the Consent since none of these actions had taken place. 24 hours later I received another copy of the contract with a reminder to sign and submit it prior to my appointment. This time I made modifications to the contract, specifically deleting the inappropriate provisions, signed it and submitted it.
I then received another email which provided information about the appointment. I saw that if I was more than 20 minutes late to my appointment for my Full Set, Jiemao Lashes has the right to refuse service and my deposit would not be refunded. My daughter, who also had an appointment at the same time as me arrived early and sat in the lobby, waiting for someone to get us at 6:30.
Finally at 6:50, 20 minutes late, I was finally taken to the suite. Had it been me running 20 minutes late, per their Terms, probably would not have been seen and would have lost my deposit. When I reached the room I was stunned to see three beds cramped together. I had an expectation of privacy as is customary for beauty treatments and reflected in the photos on their website. The fact that the only place for my bag and coat was on the floor near the door concerned me greatly as the door remained open during treatment and anyone could have stepped in and taken my bags.
Once I squeezed my way onto the bed, I was asked what type of lashes I wanted. I said I wanted a natural look. I was advised that I should have either classic or 2d. I asked what the difference was between the two. She said 2d has more volume. I then asked to see photos of each so I could see the difference. I did not get any guidance and I chose classic. At no time was I given any information about the process.
My daughter was taken up to the room approximately 10 minutes before me. She overheard a conversation with another client who was leaving refer to a 5% discount for leaving a review. I was shocked to hear this as reviews on Yelp and Treatwell, are supposed to be independent and it was on the basis of the reviews that I first contacted them. Had I known that their almost stellar review record was due to some sort of inducement, I would have chosen another option.
As I mentioned above, the photos on the website do not accurately reflect the cramped and unhygienic room in which the treatments are carried out. I was appalled to see a bowl of half-eaten food and a Franca Manca pizza box on the desk.
Additionally there was absolutely no communication with my technician regarding health conditions or anything else, other than a very brief explanation about aftercare once the treatment was complete.
This was my daughter's first experience with lash extensions, yet the technician did not take the time to explain the process to her. Not once during either of our treatments were we asked if we were okay or needed anything. In fact I was not offered the opportunity to use the toilet before my treatment, which made lying flat for 2+hours even more uncomfortable.
If writing this review stops one other person from havin an equally unpleasant experience, then taking the time to write this will have been worthwhile. read more
