I'll admit, I was skeptical at first. Based on the reviews and the fact that no one around us had…read morefood when we sat down at 7:00 PM, I worried this might be a tourist trap. It took a little while to get someone's attention initially, but once the water arrived and our orders were taken, everything changed. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The Puttanesca was one of my favorite meals of the entire trip--I'm still thinking about it! Despite the mixed reviews and the slow start to service, we had a great experience and a wonderful meal. If you can be patient for those first few minutes, the pizza and pasta is well worth the wait.

They had a Hugo Boss collab, I think Boss bought out the restaurant recently. The street was lovely with some great shops to admire while seated (of course had to visit the shops after the meal). The food wasn't absolutely amazing but it was still delicious, great pizza, quality ingredients, it was very relaxing. I just wish the service was better, it's like they had a bunch of new staff that were young and didn't know what they were doing. We were extremely polite but they were constantly forgetting stuff we ordered or asked for and there were some items we said forget it, it's too late, but there were some things that we needed to be corrected -we ordered a large bottle of sparkling water, they instead brought a large bottle of still water and poorer it for us and we said that's not what we ordered. I ordered a cocktail and that didn't arrive until I asked 3 times for it (my fiancé already finished his first drink). I asked for ice and lemon with the water and they brought ice but no lemon, etc. they were just extremely forgetful and didn't care when they messed up. For the service alone I knocked off 2 stars. I hope everyone else has a better experience with service here.

The cappuccino was delicious... this is really how it should taste so if and when In Italy this is the place to do a sit down cappuccino. Of course you can grab and go at the bar located in the lobby of the cafe or just stand at the bar and enjoy your cappuccino. Seems like the locals go here too. We felt like locals!!!

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.
