Nice seating (in the summer). Average meal costs around £5+. A great place to grab food. Not a great place for meetings (of any sort)

Bacon was too oily. Potatoes tasted over-seasoned. I'm not a fan of mushrooms in general, so I couldn't tell if they were good or not, I just don't like mushrooms. I was most disappointed in the beans. They were heavily seasoned in some kind of curry, when all I wanted was normal English beans. The food wasn't terrible, I was simply expecting better quality.

The waiters were nice but the food was not the best. I got a scrambled egg on toast with smoked salmon & the salmon had a fishy smell to it, was flavorless and there was barely any hot sauce available. My friend also thought her burger was just okay as well with the biggest positive point being the bacon. That being said, the fried dough balls dipped in chocolate were really great and so were the holiday specials for alcoholic drinks. While the inside was spacious and retro and had a cool vibe, I have to knock down points for the actual food itself and wish that I had kept the memory of how much I enjoyed this place pre Covid as that since I wouldn't make my way out to this restaurant again even if I'm in the area.

As Americans, we were interested in seeing the English take on a lot of our classic American diner dishes. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, my sister had cheese fries and macaroni and cheese (she has an intense love for cheese) and our friend had the burger with seasoned fries. I think the best things on the table were the pancakes and the cheese fries. It seemed to be ACTUAL cheese melted onto the fries instead of the fake "nacho" cheese that we get in the states -- even though the fake cheese is also delicious. The macaroni and cheese was a bit dry and in need of a bit more flavor, as was the burger. The pancakes? Awesome. They came out warm, fluffy, topped with a sprinkling of powdered sugar and a side of butter and maple syrup.

At this, they fail. Any Denny's will provide a better experience than this, without the London prices. Some complaints: after asking for sweetener for my coffee, I was informed they only have sugar or agave syrup. I asked for an omelette, and I was informed they were too busy to make omelettes, even though the menu offers scrambled eggs any way you like. How time consuming is an omelette? So I revised my order for 3 scrambled eggs with a side of bacon. They brought out two plates, with 2 eggs on each plate! The service was slow and unfriendly. This might be acceptable if it was a 24-hour diner, and I was there at 4 am with the clubbers and other freaks sobering up for the journey home. It was noon! I sense the people dining here were part of the bleed-over traffic from a nearby Breakfast Club, as there was no queue for a table at The Diner, unlike the competition on a Saturday morning. Apparently, this location is part of a chain. America isn't very popular these days, so these Londoners have a lot of cheek destroying the idea of one of the few good things you are usually guaranteed in the States: a friendly breakfast diner where you can get a bleedin' omelette when you ask! (One positive: they serve bottomless filtered coffee. There is that.)

It's one of those places I wanted to love because it's cool, independent, I've seen photos of my…read morefriends eating there on Instagram etc. But sadly it was quite disappointing. Although there's been a lot of complain about the decor I personally love it. It's rustic, old and lazy cosy looking. It even has an old Chinese sign still saying 'beer' which is probably left there from the previous place. If you're looking for a more modern sleek cool looking like Byron or Honest Burger then you're in the wrong place. I don't know if it was an one off but both of the burgers we ordered were burnt, the bun that is. It couldn't have been because the kitchen was busy as we were the only customers there plus one other customer who was finishing off. So they told me that the mushroom bacon and cheese burger I was ordering was actually lamb. The burger was stacked tall, almost impossible to eat my hand. But I didn't dare to try and use that knife and fork instead (the uncool way) mainly so I could avoid the burnt bun ruining the taste of the generous filling. I love mushrooms in burgers and here it was able to give the burger more flavour and wetness which it needed. Although the lamb patty was flavoursome, it was slightly dry and on the coarse side. Not the best burger I've had. The Shrimp Po Boy was a much better choice. I love the filling of beautifully battered shrimp that was light and plump. The seafood sauce and lettuce accompanied it well, adding different levels of texture. It was cheaper too. But another problem with the burger bun was that it was too thick and dense, taking a lot of moisture away and because it was a 'lighter' burger, some flavours got lost in there. But it had potential. We also ordered a side of onion rings that were battered perfectly. But sadly there were so bland they became uninspiring and boring. The poutine was also unseasoned and bland. There's no point adding salt as it didn't flavour the inside of the chips. I did enjoy the addition of the goat's curd and the lamb gravy was lighter and less synthetic/generic tasting than other poutine I've had which was nice. But there is one reason I would return to The Advisory for and that's for their amazing coffees. The flat white we ordered was one of most aromatic, smoothest and creaminess I've had. My boyfriend said it was very similar to Turkish coffee so the beans they used were probably very finely grounded. My hot chocolate on the other hand was forgettable. I was planning to give The advisory another chance on their food but looking at other reviews it seems the problem of bland food seems more common than an one off. I think with Patty and Bun round the corner I'll stick to that next time for my burger fix.

Highlights include a breakfast burger with avocado, one with blue cheese and bacon and a sweet potato and haloumi number. And of course the more traditional cheese burger. There are some new york style sides such as mac and cheese with cauliflower, greens with garlic and chilli as well as onion rings. The brunch menu is relatively restricted and pretty bread heavy. There is about 6 items to chose from including eggs benedict, blueberry pancakes and a salmon bagel. They also serve a few different sandwiches, again, quiet NY style. The pastrami one looked pretty good but didn't try any myself. And if I went here again I really really want to try the shrimp po boy. Service was a little slow BUT the waitresses were super lovely so that made up for it. I love the space and the whole room styling. The bar is fully stocked with everything you would possible need to start off an accidental saturday/sunday session. Sides are around 3pound and burgers/sandwiches/breaky items are around 5 - 8 pounds.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.
