Best place for yoga. Great, dedicated teachers. Easy to learn the moves and endless opportunity…read moreto learn more. Second only to my favorite yoga instruction in San Francisco. Yoga East brings excellent workshops, yoga celebs and programs to Portsmouth. And it's not about ego. Seems perfectly genuine, like Yoga East simply wants to build a dynamic yoga community and practice, practice, practice. Only trouble is finding the studio entrance... it's very - er - subtle. "Go past a pile of rocks on the banister of the exterior stairs," one patron advised, "behind the bank building on Deer Street just before the curve... " What? Finding the entrance is a journey with mystery. Fitting, isn't it.

Do not recommend. The instructor is very unprofessional -- she was late to every session (without…read moreapology or acknowledgement), and through our Duo classes she was eating, working on the computer, doing her hair, changing her clothes...) rather than attending to the class. The classes are very boring and repetitive (I've practiced Pilates for years, and rarely do the same thing twice with other instructors), and although there is constant correction and criticism, there is very little instruction. Finally too frustrated to continue, but she refused to refund for the last classes.

I am not a novice at yoga but I'm not a girl who can do handstands and such either. I took the class so I could learn more about the proper set up for poses I've been doing for years. I've also had an injury recently and figured I'd just start at the beginning. Let me start by saying ;The instructor Katie was a fantastic teacher. She masterfully broke poses and movements of sun salutations for us. She showed us the "common mistakes" and I felt I learned a lot from her. The studio was clean comfortable and cozy. There were a lot of beginners in the class and I was impressed with what a safe interactive environment Katie set up and I'm very much looking forward to the next one !!! Namaste
