The day school here was not a good experience for us. After meeting the trainer, and trusting him,…read morewe purchased a package of ten training lessons. After several I was uncomfortable dropping off my dog there and was ready to write it off as a loss. I finally decided to call and ask for a refund for the unused classes. The owner was angry, hostile and accusatory and began yelling from the start. I finally got her to listen to what my concerns were but she just interrupted constantly and told my I was a liar. She said I was a dishonest person, though she had never met me. She claimed "I just didn't want to train my dog." Although I spent hundreds of dollars to get my dog trained. The trainer used a prong collar on our 14 pound puppy, which I thought unnecessary, but he was fine with discontinuing. Twice, after picking him up from school on hot days, he was so thirsty he nearly made himself sick drinking water when he got home. Again, the trainer was made aware and promised to check water more often. The website states that 'to keep a balance, structured play will be part of each and every day's lesson plan". When I asked the trainer about the structured play he didn't seem to know what I was talking about. The website also says the dogs have large indoor outdoor kennels with soft beds. They do have some but apparently not enough for all the dogs. My dog and others were in plastic travel crates. I was told the trainer would have up to six dogs. The last time I picked up our dog I counted 10 dogs in kennels and one that was leaving. When I told the owner about this she at first said I was lying and then said that it was because she was running a kennel. Previously the trainer had told me that the school space was only for that and the kennel was separate. So either they are untruthful about the trainer only having six dogs or they are untruthful about every dog getting a nice big indoor outdoor kennel. When I asked her about the promised structured play she said my dog was afraid of other dogs. He has been with other dogs his whole life, but even if he was, do you train a nervous dog to be social by keeping him in a crate? She refused to give me refund but stated 'if I didn't wait five months" she might have. In fact it was three months. That's how I uncomfortable I was bringing our puppy there. She stated more than once that "we are not the trainer for you." I couldn't agree more, but it seems that if she is making absolutely no effort to meet our needs as clients we should at least get a refund.

I board my arguably 'difficult' ABPT mix at Cappa's each year for certain holidays. I had…read moreresearched every kennel within 100 miles, and they were one of the only to make a point of their ability and experience handling dogs that are not able to interact with other dogs. Also, their prices are some of the best. The employees always remember my boy's special needs and cautions, and are always friendly, non-judgemental, and good listeners when I go on my nervous mom rants at drop off. They seem very calm and confident in their interactions with him, which is immensely reassuring for me. We've had no issues or complaints so far. One area I wish was slightly better was more personal communication and updates while he's there. I see him on their social media posts, but with his 'special' personality, I worry more than maybe most. Overall, great kennel for boarding.
