I was very lucky to train here for a week while I was in town for a conference…read more Although I haven't been training jiu jitsu for very long (about 18 months), I have been to about 15 different gyms and schools. I'm also a teacher, and between my training time and my profession, feel qualified to say that Professor Asche's teaching is of excellent quality. First, he explains things in a way that makes them easy to understand. I noticed that everyone in his classes have a strong BJJ vocabulary, which means they've been understanding the theory *and* the techniques. Second, the class atmosphere is extremely respectful and kind. While BJJ is a combat sport, it can be taught in a way that is fun and provides a safe learning environment. Professor Asche's classes achieve this balance wonderfully. Third, the classes are well-structured. There's a skill-specific warm-up that has nothing superfluous (like random ab exercises). Each movement is an actual grappling movement and gets you ready for class. After, there's instruction, drilling, instruction, drilling, and then positional sparring where you get to practice the moves of the day in a controlled manner. After positional sparring, there's open sparring. It follows the teaching principle of 'gradual release of responsibility' or 'I do, we do, you do' which appeals to me as an educator. Fourth, the facilities are great. There are changing rooms, loaner gis, and Professor Asche has very good sanitary practices, which are important in grappling sports to prevent the spread of skin infections. It's probably the cleanest gym I've visited between the mat wipedowns after every session and the feet sanitizing tub. Finally, Professor Asche himself is very kind. I felt very welcomed, and hope to come back soon. I can't say enough nice things about the people or the training. If you live in the area, train here. TL;DR - great training with a great professor in a great facility. Train here, now.

I can not say enough about Prentice Chiropractic and the work they do to help you get out of pain…read more Not just temporarily, but permanently. I was working with another Dr in the same clinic using StemWave therapy to help a should and neck issue I had been dealing with for 10 years (which I also highly recommend). My shoulder and neck would literally trigger each other in pain and it was extremely hard to do much as a result. I had done an ablation through my pain therapy clinic but that did not solve the issue, it temporarily helped the neck but the shoulder remained on fire. My pain over the last two years was in the 7-9 pain levels. I tried the Stemwave therapy and it was completely helping my shoulder pain. My shoulder pain was gone, but I can tell it was not 100% solving the issue in my neck because it was structural. The shoulder was doing so much better and the triggering of pain between the neck and shoulder was gone, but the neck started creeping back in as ablation started to wear off. For me this was not acceptable and I began to fear the pain coming back with a vengeance. The Stemwave Dr initially told me about the Atlas Orthogonal treatment as a solution and thought I would be a good candidate for it so I reached out to Dr. Prentice and got the ball rolling. SO HAPPY I DID. My pain is a zero in my neck and shoulder now!! I am in ongoing treatment as it is a process to fixing the structural issues that had been present for many decades, not just the past 10 years of constant neck pain I have experienced. I am 100% happy with the results and highly recommend people trying this treatment as a solution, not just a band aid and without surgery or a temporary fix. It is also important for me to mention, I am also doing decompression therapy for a stage 1 slipped disk that keeps on slipping and causing me to not do the living I like to do and though I am early in the process, I am extremely hopeful this therapy will be what I need to fix....not just mask this issue. Stay tuned, I will certainly provide an update once I am on the other side. My goal is to avoid surgery in my back. A stage 1 disk slippage can easily go from 1 to done if one is not careful. To all of you going through pain, do some research on your own as I did and ask yourself, is this masking my issue or truly helping it. I get it, sometimes getting out of pain regardless becomes the goal, but truly healing, well that is where the magic starts.
