Bend Paint paints new construction for builders and apparently the quality that they advertise on their website (Why Choose Bend Painting?) is reserved for private paint jobs and not new construction for builders. Our home looks like a cross-eyed one-armed 5-year old primate painted it. We'd spoken to the builder about the horrid paint job and were told "it's within acceptable minimum standards" and in the next breath we were asked "can you see it from 10 feet away in natural light?" There's nothing about "minimum standards" and standing "10 feet away in natural light" on Bend Painting's website. Bend Painting, after all, advertises itself as "Bend Oregon's Premier Painting Company" So we called Bend Paint because this paint job is NOT representational of the quality of work they advertise all over their website. We just had the exterior of our house painted with a less common color. This resulted in various issues in the process with Sherwin Williams etc. However, through the whole process, dealing with Bend Painting was simple and they helped us through the process. Any time we had a problem they were quick to get back to us. The issues: - we were told painting would begin in July and they started at the end of August and didn't finish until early September. - The paint ran out multiple times. This was Sherwin Williams fault, and not the fault of the Bend Painting. - Selecting the color when using an abnormal color means Sherwin Williams are not helpful in finding it for the correct paint. Again, not Bend Painting's fault. - Contract says to pick a color one week before painting starts however, there was no scheduled starting date on the contract. - Weather strips were not installed at the end of the job. The awesome: + Bend Painting helped us resolve all issues with Sherwin Williams and even though the contract specifies to use Super Paint, they worked with us using a different paint to get the color we wanted. This meant extra work on their end. + The crew were super nice and friendly + TJ the owner is a nice person to deal with. + A simple mention of an issue such as weather strips missing, or paint needing touchup was handled very quickly and with no resistance. + They were easy to get along with all around. + Value. They were the best bid, hands down. So please note that the two first issues were not Bend Painting's fault although it could have been a bit smoother had the paint been ordered before the job. So given the list of issues, why do they get a 5/5? Because when I look at their issue resolution, the cost, and how happy we are with the end result, it's very easy a 5 star job. read more

I got three bids on my home, and all came within a couple of hundred dollars of each other. I liked the fact that Bend Painting used Sherwin Williams. We had rain followed by a week of scorching heat, that put the schedule off. Once the work crew showed up, they power washed, scraped, sealed, and painted with two coats of paint. My house looks fantastic, and the paint is super thick. They paid attention to detail, and understood that this was our "home" and not just another job. I can't imagine ever using anyone else in the future. I was excited to find out they can also repaint our kitchen cabinets...great job Bend Painting! read more

On the recommendation of our contractor I used Bend Painting to refinish our doors. Although this was a small job & the bid seemed expensive I asked it to be scheduled. The bid called for "multiple coats of Teak oil". They applied two coats & didn't return to reinstall the weather stripping as promised. To their credit the bill was reduced when I complained. Bend Painting may be good on large projects but I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. read more

I had a simple interior painting job in a wall-in closet that was sub-contracted through Neil Kelly. Bend Painting accepted the job and did not try to match existing paint. In addition, Bend Painting had an inexperience painter on site that painted over existing holes in the drywall without repairing them. Bend Painting claimed that they were told by Neil Kelly just to paint. Everyone repairs holes in drywall prior to painting. I would give them zero rating. read more

Bend Painting is extremely unprofessional and rude. Their work is subpar, they did not use the brand of paint requested and instead used a cheaper paint. And good luck getting them to call you back when you have a question or a problem. They claim to offer a 1 year warranty but when we called them to fix something they sent us a bill. When we questioned why we were being billed for warranty work, the owner called and yelled at us on the phone. read more

This review is long overdue, but I promised and they did such a great job at almost half the price of the other rip-off painters in Bend they deserve this review. First about me, I'm a painter, a fine arts painter so I know a lot about paint, techniques and a fair amount about house painting. I did a lot of research on painters in Bend and took 3 bids. The first bid was from fancy pants that got a big write up in the Bulletin, they're bid was ridiculous and was really for suckers on the west side, whose equity line was going to pay for it. The second bid came in at another rip off level. Finally Bend Paintings bid came in @ at least 30 percent less than the others at a very reasonable price. They got the job. They informed me in advance about the delays to a start date because they were super booked up, like everyone else, due to mainly the town coming out of recession and jobs starting to pop up everywhere. This was true of everyone I talked too and probably still is today. My communications with the main office were excellent and HONEST throughout the whole process. I found their business model to be excellent, great work at a fair price instead of the "get rich quick and loose all future clients approach" like a lot of contractors in Bend. As we approached our start date which was about 2 months from contract they said they could even come in early but I was outta town so we stuck with our original date. I suggest the people walk around your house and tell your contractor exactly whats wrong with it, what you want fixed and what paint you want to use way in advance. This will eliminate a lot of problems. I did this with the foreman of this crew who was super friendly and honest as well. Not only did they fix problems I pointed out in the original survey on the project they patched and fixed up a lot of extras once they got into the job that originally were not detectable, at no extra cost! Job day kicked off right on time and they got to work. They were efficient, clean, tidy , smart and serious about the project, (painting the entire outside of my house) throughout the process. WE used a custom color, from Sherwin Williams that i selected and had them order in advance with no problems whatsoever. Two colors , one main and one for trim, along with a custom color for the door, Preparation on the owners side, good communication on both sides, averts a lot of problems. Once on the job they stayed until done, which was timely and efficient and they did a great job. My house looks awesome and this is being written a year and a half after their paint job and one of Oregon's worst winters on record. To clarify, i have no affiliations or friendships with Bend Painting beyond the work they did for me but they deserve praise for fair price, great work the did for me. No doubt I will use them again in the future. read more

Bend Painting just completed a re-paint and re-stain of our exterior. 5,000 foot house plus 1800 feet of garages. Base color, trim color, and semi-transparent stain on natural wood surfaces. They did a superb job for us, with good clean-up each day of the project. They were very responsive to the short punch list we had after completion of the job (the punch list contained only half a dozen items). We're on Awbrey Butte and were scheduled for mid-October originally, but the owner TJ Iams, became proactively involved to move us up in the schedule to give better chance of good weather at the higher than most of Bend elevation of Awbrey Butte. It meant he had to juggle other jobs and on some days only a small crew could be at the house--no problem for us, a hassle for Bend Painting--and we beat the weather. Excellent value for the dollar with Bend Painting....and a great finished job. We're happy enough that we're asking them to come back next summer to apply an additional coat of stain on the natural wood surfaces to give us more years of protection and have also asked for a bid to do some interior painting since we found them to be neat and clean on the job site. If there were one thing I'd suggest be different it would be that they use ladders with the bull horns that sit on the roof, rather than standard ladders which lean against the gutters. The standard ladders can scratch off the original powder coated finish of the gutters--that occured with a couple of our gutters, but they are making it right by painting the gutters. Still, it would be better to avoid the problem in the first place to shorten the punch list for client and contractor. But a minor suggestion relative to a great job by Bend Painting. read more
