Come Tuesday, I was taken back quickly and received X-rays. The doctor seemed knowledgeable and said he was ordering an MRI. Insurance would need to pre-authorize and I should be getting a call come Friday or Monday. I never received a call regarding the MRI, so I call them a week after my initial appointment and finally get someone on the phone after getting disconnected twice. I'm told they are waiting for insurance to approve. I call back the next day and told again they are waiting for insurance and it can take up to 30 days. I call my insurance company today (Thursday) and was informed that nothing has been submitted for a pre-authorization . I then decide to drive to their Springhill location this morning to talk to someone. I was informed that the Saraland location only has one person who handles MRI scheduling, but she would forward my information. After waiting all day and hearing nothing, I drive to the Saraland location. The receptionist did not seem to care one bit. She told me it would be next Monday before that person would be back. I asked if there is someone else I can talk to as I am not getting any better and she just says nope.... I do not recommend using this provider for any care. In my opinion, they are a high volume clinic that prioritizes collecting as many copays as possible and little priority on patient care. I made a new appointment with another provider in the parking lot.

From the moment you walk…read morein the door, the staff is super friendly making sure to ask you how you are doing and informing you of how long your wait may be (which is never long at all) It's a very laid back, casual, and friendly atmosphere. By my third visit, everyone knew and remembered my name, how many kids I have, and that my dad was running for the city council. Dr. Lyssy is very professional and explains everything he is doing before he does it so there are no surprises. Dr. Lyssy and his staff are accomodating to whatever the patient needs to leave his office feeling more refreshed than when they came. There is also a massage therapist on staff that I look forward to checking out soon.

I only got to see so much of the bad attitudes of the staff because I had come early, and got called back late. After I sat in the back until 30 minutes after my appointment time I got up and left. That same day I made appointments with two other potential primary care providers. Two weeks later I got a letter from Alabama Medical Group indicating that they were concerned that they might not be able to provide the best medical care so they would stop providing care after 30 days. I did not write back to tell them that the "care" I had received was not even adequate, and that anyone willing to put up with disrespectful treatment from people who were willing to let the patient know just how overworked they are, well, I do expect good health care and am willing to leave to get it. Btw, I do have Medicare and Plan G supplemental insurance, so lack of coverage is not part of this.

You have to wait a while but he is so worth it. My Dad has started using Dr. Burden after Dr. Ashurst (whom we love) retired and he is so sincere, listens, has a great bedside manner and very knowledgeable and smart.
